Instagram- AdamTheWooATW Touring this location in detail was a massive bucket list for me . One of my favorite 80s movies and one that sadly goes unseen by many movie goers . A true cult classic .
THANK YOU ADAM! When you warned of spoilers I actually paused the video and went off to watch the movie. Completely missed it back then(I was a HS Jr in '87). It is a FANASTIC 80s movie. Not only is the execution of it amazing, but it is also such an accurate time machine for me now. The grammar books were the ones I had in school. The dress and hairstyles and stuff were not exxagerated, just kinda normal 80s. I mean it pretty much looked like any school in America. They took a pretty basic high school story line and make a heck of a film. And of course you made a great filming location video as you always do.
This brought back some fun memories. Not only was I an extra, but I also got to work with the local casting agent in recruiting extras. Casey Siemaszko was fun to be around and was always kind and considerate. Richard Tyson was always getting into his character and no one dared to approach him. Liza Marrow, who played Karen Clarke was not only beautiful, she was also very gracious, friendly, and courteous. I got to know her while sitting next to her in the classroom scene with the nature video playing (which took like three hours). Final a big shout out to the director Phil Joanou. He did a great job for his directorial debut. Like most movies, none of the scenes were shot in order. I did not fully understand his vison until the movie was released. needless to say, I was impressed. I got to know many of the crew which made being an extra on this movie a great pleasure and a lot of fun.
HEY ATW...THE PRESERVATION OF THIS SCHOOL IS PHENOMENAL! They have done a great job of keeping this location , an actual functioning school, in pristine condition. This 80's flick also features so many actors it's mind boggling. Buddy is played by Richard Tyson-the bad guy from Kindergarten Cop. The school nurse was played by Alice Nunn-"LARGE MARGE" from Pee Wees Big Adventure! What an impressive episode this morning! The level of creative freedom you and Sean were afforded is unheard of in today's society. Incredible.
That’s my high school!!! We would watch 3 o’Clock High every year for homecoming in the auditorium. My year was the last year to graduate in that auditorium, before they did all of the renovations! Loved that you got to see it and that they let you inside for a tour!
An absolutely beautiful school. I love this movie, I was 17 when it came out, I saw it in the theater and about 100 times since. Very under rated movie, it seems to have disappeared only to reappear only once in a while and when it does, we all watch it. It's a keeper. Great movie. Great video. Amazing school. Thank you.
I live a few miles North of the school and remember driving past when they were filming. I REALLY wanted to be an extra, but I was only in 6th or 7th grade. I know a few people who were extras and have found them in the movie. It's always been one of my favorite movies and feel lucky to have this amazing building so close. Thanks for taking the time to do this. It has changed so much since the filming. Still fun to see it, as I never go inside. I remember it from the time before it was restored and remodeled and don't know if I've been in since the changes.
This is my hometown and took place while I was in high school. So many of my friends were extras, we were always trying to see who we knew in the background of the film! Thanks for this.
Many thanks to Adam and Sean. You guys do the best movie location visits. Appreciate you going the extra mile getting permission and an all inclusive tour. You guys are the best in the biz
Morning Adam! Thanks for making me laugh and feel better I had surgery and am still in the hospital .. Thanks for taking my husband and I along. Everyone have a Great Day! 🕊️😊✌️
So cool to see! I was an extra in the movie and went to the school. My dad did to before me. Loved the history of the school and the experience of being an extra was so fun and I have not seen it in 30 years. Thank you for doing this!
Oh my goodness I use to watch this movie over and over! Now I have to find it again. It’s such a good movie….thanks for reminding me of it with this cool video! 👍😊🇨🇦
It really is sad that so many people have NOT seen this amazing film! I have been rewatching it since 1987. I have the DVD now and make everyone I can watch this timeless classic. So glad this is one of your favs as well! I was 12 when it came out and also lived in Utah.
Fun to see you putting it online. I enoyed working there because I loved the building so much. I was happy whenever I pulled up for work...seeing the beautiful architecture. District mtgs were really nice because they were in the amazing auditorium. The video doesn't do it justice. The colors are amazing. It is like the Egyptian Theater here in Ogden. Great historical bldg.
THIS. WAS. AWESOME! I had to pause this video, and go back and watch the movie before you guys went inside the doors. HAD TO. lol! This was a once in a lifetime experience, Adam, so I'm glad it was the two of you who got the privilege. Well deserved!
Two of my Uncles were extras in that movie. They we're currently attending that high school and they used most of the high school kids if I remember right. What a great movie!
I freakin LOVE this movie! Not sure why this was not more successful, IMO this movie is WAY better than Ferris Bueller's Day Off. 3 O'clock was so unique and awesome!
I attended this school and loved it.. "Ogden High School was designed by the local firm of Hodgson and McClenahan. It was built in 1937 with a local bond issue and funds from the Public Works Administration and the Works Progress Administration, New Deal programs during the Great Depression. In 1983, the building and its sumptuous auditorium were listed on the National Register of Historic Places." It was constructed at a cost of 1.2 million dollars in 1937. What would it cost now?? WOW!
Three O’Clock High is one of my faves of all time and an inspiration to me to make movies. This is one of the greatest location tours ever! Thanks!👏🏼 Oh!… and remember… Pain is temporary, film is forever.
What a quirky movie. I remember seeing this not long after it came out and thinking while going into it tat it was a stupid premise and it would suck. To my surprise and delight I loved it and saw it multiple times. I love the over the top acting and camera angles. Such great camp!
What a perfect, intimidating, epic-looking high school. Perfect for the movie. I remember when the movie came out. I was a Senior in high school so I really felt this movie. Lol. In fact, there was several guys in my high school who could’ve played Buddy. Long hair, wearing jeans and boots, the wallet with the big chain on it, and looking several years older than everyone else. Lol
Graduated from OHS in 1988. Was an 'extra' extra in the movie somewhere in a window in the fight scene. 3rd generation OHS graduate, and can attest to the beauty of this building. Most of the actors and actresses in the movie were still in high school at the time, and some attended classes with the OHS general public. They were all wonderful people. Wow, what a memory. Agreed, should've gotten more attention but I can safely say for those of us who were part of the production either primary or secondary, this was THE movie of the 80's. O-town forever.
Loved the video. I have lived 20 miles North of Niceville all my life. I saw on the video of you and your dad's trip when ya'll came through Niceville. I wish I had known ya'll were coming through back then. I would have bought ya'll lunch and would have enjoyed visiting with the both of you. Fell in love with your mom and dad through your videos. He is a very knowledgeable man. Cherish them and make memories while you can. Be safe and Happy Trails.
Great Job Adam and Sean! It was fun to take you through Ogden High and to see your enthusiasm for the school and the movie! You are welcome back any time! Just let me know. All the best. Ken
It's a historical site and Architectural Landmark, which is one of the reasons it's so well-preserved. It's still a working school. I grew up 10 minutes from this school. It's a beautiful building. It's Art Deco, btw, not Gothic. It was the first "Million Dollar School" and funded through the Works Progress Administration during the depression. Anyone who grew up in or around Ogden is really proud of this school. There was a big community push and fundraising effort to restore the building more than had been preserved already in the 2000s (around 2006). Filming still happens at the school for various things every now and then.
Rain or Shine nothing keeps you down! Have been watching you for years and you still cease to amaze. Love your videos so much! The history, time, energy, research you give to us the viewers is by far the best og of youtube! Keep em coming! God Bless
It’s amazing how beautiful some high schools are because my high school looked NOTHING like that! It’s like they just scattered around a bunch of portable classrooms and called it a day 😅
One of my favorite movies I watched as a kid. I think men our age (Now in our 40's) remember seeing this as young children because it was playing on HBO when a lot of us got cable for the first time. mid to late 80's, all these movie played on HBO or Cinemax. Total Recall, and Over the Top with Stallone also around the same era....
I thought this was a movie I never saw but in watching your vlog i realized I did see this. You introduced me to "Manos". Fun vlog Adam! Thank you! And thank you for the Gatorland clip!!
This was really cool guys!! I must of watched this film but I'll have to check it out to make sure. It's one of those films that I don't remember but I think I've watched 95% of all the movies made in the 80s :) How amazing looking was that school. Great architecture and facilities. This was great Adam, I really enjoyed you and Sean working together you both have great enthusiasm and knowledge. A very enjoyable video to watch!
Omg! It’s beyond awesome that you did this video! My husband and I are huge 3 o’clock high fans. My husband introduced me to the movie years ago. It was hard finding the dvd of this movie I gave my husband as a gift. I have been to the school and took photos of the outside but never been lucky enough to go inside. It is a very beautiful school. They have done a good job of preserving it. So cool they allowed you up on the roof even. The view from there is amazing. Too bad they won’t let anyone else in to film or even go on a tour of the school. Bravo Adam on another great video! Love whenever you come to Utah. :)
Hi.. I attended Ogden High from 1967 to 1969.. So.. YES.. I have been inside!!! For three long years! LOL The school building was the first school in Utah to exceed 1 million dollars to construct in 1937. Total cost was 1.2 million dollars. This "walk through" brought back a lot of good memories for me.. Thank you Adam and company!!!
Incredible!!! Can’t say incredible enough!! One of my all time favorite movies and without a doubt one of my all time favorite movie location videos!!! Ranks right up there with the Evil Dead II location vlog!! Love it!
Never heard of this movie and I'm everything about the '80s since I lived through it and miss it terribly. I'm not into these movie set tours but I'm watching this anyways cuz it's you Adam and you make anything interesting.
I graduated from this High School and knew a lot of the extras that were in the film, The school is the first million dollar school west of the Mississippi built, first class graduated in 1938. Some of the scenes, when Jerry was in the reading class was filmed in the evening and they had scaffolding erected outside of the windows with lights shining in the windows to make it appear daylight
Hey Woo glad you and Sean did this filming location. I had a feeling it was coming when you went to Salt lake City. You and Sean Clark my favorites!! ✌🏼✌🏼
Woohoo - my hometown! My children and husband attended OHS. I attended the rival across town. Great vlog, even though I didn't stay to the end of the movie when I saw it in the theater. I thought it was lame. I may have to give it a re-watch. Thanks Adam!!
This school was built during the depression. The bricklayers were told to go slow and make it beautiful. This high school building gave so many jobs to help people when jobs were needed during that time.
I was an EXTRA in this movie! Wow that was so long ago. Was in the fight scene outside. Was fun making the film. And thanks for walking me down memory lane…
You're 2 for 2 in 2 days, Adam! Three O'Clock High ranks up there with Ferris, Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles. Iconic 80s cult classic! I saw it at the drive-in here, which is now part of a massive RV/Camper sales dealership lot. Your match-up game is on par with Herve Attia and Grimmlife. Do it for the fun, and the history books - but mostly for the fun.
hello again Adam , another cool interesting location video , that was so nice of them to let you walk around there , really well done and thank you guys 😊
Now this movie I have watched and love. I remember how INTENSE Richard Tyson was, that guy was terrifying. (Loved seeing him in Kindergarten Cop too, wished he had a more prominent career.) Pretty cool that so much of the movie was filmed at the one school.
That is an awesome school. Great video and loving the stormy weather to add to the ambience. I will check out the film as never heard it before your video.
This school is incredible - I don’t think I’ve seen this movie sadly - but will look up! That camera slip as he was uttering the word was some crazy synchronicity 😂😳👏🖤
RU-vid randomly suggested this video to me. I live about 6 blocks from Ogden High, and used to live about 4 & a half blocks from it. Never knew it was in a movie (just a local documentary that I knew of) , but I can see why it was used. It's a beautiful building. It should be or should've been in more.
This is one of my favorites!!! Move it move it move it!!! Hahaha never in a million years would I think I’ll be watching a vlog about the movie!!! Thanks for stirring the old memory glad up in my head! 🤪
Excellent job 👍👍 One of my favorite movies growing up. I think I was in 7th grade when this movie came out. It really had me spooked about heading into highschool. Lol
Haha I remember talking with you about this a couple years back after I first showed the movie to Maxx. Glad you guys were able to finally get in there.
That school is fantastic! So cool that it is so well maintained and the film history is embraced. Beautiful campus! Okay, I can't help myself- (22:50) "Asps, very dangerous, you go first."
Amazing building. I love the architecture and craftsmanship of old buildings. I live in the Detroit area and the old buildings that have been maintained are amazing. Alot of them were built by Albert Khan.
I was only 3 when this movie came out but I do remember watching them film Touched by an Angel episodes, Drive me Crazy and some Disney made for TV movies at Ogden high. Three O'clock High is one of my all time favorites. I had the intro song to the movie by Tangerine Dream burned onto a CD and used to drive to the high school sometimes just for fun. Kinda corny lol, this was back in probably 2002 😂
I don't know how I missed out seeing or hearing about this movie back in the day! Anyways, just bought it and Love it! Great 80's movie! Prime Video should give you a few bucks for the recommendation
Adam there is actually a reason why Ogden High looks like it did in the 1980’s on the outside. Ogden High is protected as a national landmark of Utah 😁. Btw as someone who actually lives in Ogden I appreciate you enjoying a city my ancestors helped found 🥰.
Went to Ogden High school , but moved in 85 to Florida, I remember my friends calling me saying they were extras in a movie being filmed there. I told my friends yeah right who would film a movie there?? Low and behold a little more than a year late I see the movie and my friends in the movies mostly at the end of the movie buying a pencil . This movie brings back so many memories, it’s a beautiful building. I paid a visit in 2021 they allowed me to walk the halls , some changes for sure inside
Adam, I watched SLC Punk last night, a great movie that I would never have watched without your video. I loved the bit when the boys go to Wyoming to get beer and use the "English" excuse.
