Eddie is coming to the end of Phase 1 of retirement. Phase 2 is incredibly dangerous. Many people suffer from loss of purpose. Hopefully he'll get through this phase and reach his nirvana and enjoy his retirement.

Many reasons if you are from the US, especially in big cities. Crime, cost of living, insane political climate, increasing government overreach, dating scene. There are more reasons, but that's more than enough for me.

Exactly, 1) tax is not something unique to Thailand, 2) work permits are available, I should know i had one and made serious money in Thailand, 3) there is nothing stopping you from being legitimate with your bank account and visa application, it's just a rant from someone who has no understanding of the subject

I wouldn't call those pet projects work, but no doubt they would be cracking down on it. Would be different if you were making a heap and getting half a million views for every video. He just needs to decide if he actually wants to retire or wants to work (I don't really consider it as work). May as well keep hopping around countries but the novelty will wear off and still need a proper visa of some sorts.

You have to have a work permit BEFORE working in Thailand, as well as pay Thai taxes -- (they have a minimum amount already calculated for you, no matter your actual starting revenue). I know. I had one, several times. If you work on a tourist visa, you are subject to arrest and deportation at any time. Thailand is simply not worth the trouble. In South America, we have property rights and can own a house and get permanent residency quickly and easily.

I beleive in Cambodia you can get a work permit for $200 and register as self employed

Indeed, and I think what really ticked him off about Thailand was that massage in Udon Thani when the masseuse only let him shoot his load once....that was an amazing rant. Quite frankly retirement in Thailand is straightforward, there are many oldies on retirement visas that are also RU-vidrs. If he wants to be 100% strictly compliant then he could see whether he qualifies for an LTR visa which would allow him to work & with concessional tax rates.

Think you might be over reacting to issues in Thailand regarding you tube/visa etc ut I think Siem Reaps always been your destination of choice can't fault you there. Keep up the great vids and all the best with new book

This is correct ASSUMING the financial system stays solid. Otherwise, your money may be safer in a condo than in a bank or investment company. (Or even safer in a house with a garden). Bill Gates has become the largest owner of farmland in the US because he sees a debt implosion coming, and so does not want his wealth in stocks and other financial assets.

Thai tax rules states that all income from Thailand sources (This includes all activities, business, work etc carried out in Thailand) is liable for Thailand income tax regardless of your status of stay in Thailand, Nationality or the jurisdiction the income is paid in. To date the Thai authorities have left YTer’s alone but if all those who are tax resident have to start filing tax returns then failure to declare this would be filing a false tax return & could be deemed tax evasion. If you do declare then it opens up the Q of we’re is your work permit. I have recently had a form sent to me from the UK’s version of the IRS called HMRC. They told me they are sharing tax information with other Countries & wanted to know we’re I am tax resident & what my Tax ID No. is & if I don’t have one the reason why. Also all YT Vids are time stamped. So anybody who thinks thinks they can convince the Thai Tax that having a YT channel while being based in Thailand is not a Thailand source of income or that they can hide the fact they got one then good luck with that. As for Work Permits some YTers say they have them through friends with Companies of an agent. According to Ben thought on his Integrity Legal channel his Vid titled Thailand Work Permits The Term Employer Of Record Is Meaningless & these WP’s are Null & Void.

We've found South America is 1,000 times better, where we have actual reciprocal property rights, can own a house, and a permanent residency visa is easy, with two years or less. They put the money in sort of freeze it and once u been to immigration for photo only no questions it's taken back out again. But u get a Thai bank account as well with the money u pay
