Never really messed with them till now.but loved afi. All albums. Somebody told me to check them out if i liked afi.not bad. Its no art of drowning. I probably wouldn't of liked them when they first came out. I am more mellow now. Aiden was another one i just started listening to. Because i seen them metion the misfits in interviews. I more grew up in the 80s 90s punk rock era. But try to listen to bands iv never really messed with. But they sound good.
The whole vibe then was more real, more idealistic, more hopeful. Maybe it's just the magic of childhood but I'm talking about the culture we lived in.
I am awake now. When I was about 14 years old, this song came out and I was obsessed with it. No one I knew in my age group was into this kind of music. So this was kind of a little secret gem I had found that I became totally enthralled with. In the beginning of Covid, I truly had my awakening. I had a great spiritual awakening. One night while meditating just a few nights ago this song came back to me in a vision. And I realized OMG this sounds like awakening music. I told myself OMG I need to look up the lyrics and go listen to this song now that I’m awakened and OMG! Everything I have been learning about the truth and everything going on in this life was confirmed coming back to this song. The tunnels and the children and taking back your soul part. No wonder I was so obsessed with this song at a young age because my soul already knew.
They're still underrated, imo. My last year of college, I listened to this album religiously and it's still such a good album almost 15 years later in addition to their newer stuff still being amazing.
You do know this is a Christian based song right? The image of the invisible talks about how we are created in God's image the "invisible" is God. We are called to stand up as Christians and let the world know.
@@frpdude Sure, you can interpret it that way, but the album cover alone should tell you it's about more than just Christianity. Everyone is named, everyone is known. Nobody can take that away from you. Even if they try. It's not just about Christians. If I was a modern day Christian zealot, they would call it "Satanic". I'm pretty sure he's talking about something more fundamental than just Christians acting out the Bible, which is what's happening today. They are making it happen, it's not God doing it.
@@thirdmonkeyent_llche is, but sadly, he went woke last I checked. Hardcore fan lost. I resonated with everything he did up until then. I almost feel like I lost a friend when he changed so much 😢
@@tinaholbrook9719 yeah. I'm way to the right. Income taxes shouldn't be a thing and are unconstitutional and immoral along with every gun law. Public education shouldn't exist nor social security, any sort of universal healthcare. None of them are responsibilities of government or your neighbor. I don't know how woke he got, but I just plug my ears and listen to the music, because most musicians will be. It was unique that he was openly Christian. People think he gave up his Christianity, but he didn't really. He just started talking about the Bible not being inerrant, because it's written by humans. Not because God isn't holy. Which I've struggled with some things too as a Christian, but that's just part of being a Christian. I figured he was pretty center or left of center in politics, but I figured he was left, because of his Christianity, thinking welfare and affirmative action and all that bullshit is just being altruistic, and doesn't realize it's literally putting a gun to people's heads and stealing from them.
This was a song that I listened to in high school and I liked how they included God into the meaning. It's still one of my favorite songs to play when I need to remind myself I'm a child of God.
A song having a minor biblical reference really shouldn't really be that much of a reminder of your faith. The bible is a piece of literature (the truth behind it is neither here nor there) but it can be referenced without the referencing work also being a biblical piece of work. I'm a Satanist and we reference the bible regularly because it coincides with what we believe; it doesn't remind me that I'm a child of Baphomet, it just reminds me that it's a piece of literature.
@@konversion Weird to tell someone how something should make them feel..but anyway, why are you a Satanist? If the Bible coincides with what you believe then why not follow God?
@@AvocadoToasted I recommend reading the Seven Tenets of The Satanic Temple. It's maybe a five minute read and it'll answer your inquiry. I've a feeling you'll be surprised by the content.
@@konversion I already know what the Satanic Temple claims to be. Hail Satan was pretty informative but the problem is you’re following a very new church that is still in many ways in agreement with the Church of Satan. I know you think you’re involved in something harmless, but I really hope you’ve at least given God a chance. Satan has nothing good to offer you and if you believe he does, you’re deceived. But I guess if you’re part of the Satanic Temple then you really just believe it’s all metaphorical. You do you, and I’ll be praying for you regardless.
Still bust it out a couple times a year. This album and song has so much nostalgia for me. Remember rockin out to this when FUSE was still a good network.
if you are struggling with guilt in any way in life, this is not for you my brother. This is not spiritual, but if you are attaching any spirituality to it, I am sorry to say you are being misled just as I was misled.
First discovered this song on a Tony Hawk skating game in middle school & it slaps even more since i've become a Christian since grade school. Praise God!
This was the song that got me into Thrice, was in high school at the time. Have bought every album since, both before and after, and even drove to CA from AZ to catch the live w/ Kiev opening. Glad that they got back together and are still making music
LYRICS : We're more than carbon and chemicals We are the image of the invisible Free will is ours and we can't let go We are the image of the invisible We can't allow this, the quiet cull We are the image of the invisible So we sing out this, our canticle We are the image of the invisible We all were lost and we are found No one can stop us or slow us down We are the named and we are known We know that we'll never walk alone We're more than static and dial tone We are the image of the invisible We're emblematic of the unknown We are the image of the invisible So raise the banner, bend back your bows We are the image of the invisible Remove the cancer, take back your souls We are the image of the invisible We all were lost and we are found No one can stop us or slow us down We are the named and we are known We know that we'll never walk alone Though all the world may hate us, we are named The shadow overtake us, we are known We're more than carbon and chemicals Free will is ours and we can't let go We are the image of the invisible We're more than carbon and chemicals We are the image of the invisible Free will is ours and we can't let go We are the image of the invisible We can't allow this, the quiet cull We are the image of the invisible So we sing out this, our canticle We are the image of the invisible We all were lost and we are found No one can stop us or slow us down We are the named and we are known We know that we'll never walk alone Raise up the banner, bend back your bows Remove the cancer, take back your souls.
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:15-17
I haven't heard this song in over 5 years and then I just heard Skid Row " Youth gone wild" and something about the guitar riff and backing vocals reminded me of a thrice song, hence leading me here.
I finally saw them live a few weeks ago. Just deeply powerful music. Not at all ashamed to say they brought tears to my eyes more than once that night.
It's ironic because I've always been a complete atheist but most of my favourite musicians are intensely Religious and it shows in their music. Regardless, I don't hope for a future without Religion, to me that's silly. It honestly doesn't matter to me whether people believe something or don't. If faith helped Thrice write these songs, then faith has good to offer.
What a comfort. You are named. You are known. You know that you’ll never walk alone. It’s not just faith. It’s a promise. We can’t allow this. The quiet Cull So we sing out this our canticle
@@gostreiver8036 yea Dustin has an amazing understanding of the English language crazy that he didn't go to college and he took a job at Starbucks and just read all the time besides the time for Thrice. I believe he's a devout Christian from an early age. Comes out more on his solo acoustic albums which are awesome as well.
I remember listening to this song so many years ago! Was wondering what it was couldn't quite think of the name. I have now finally found you once again.
Vision of the invincible, like the image of the visible, not so walking alone, static not so hexed, lostin found in the sound, removed the chemicals, still with free will, choose your write path in life, now dont go down, take backmy soul, not so cancerous after all
this song always made me think of the invisible children of africa. always makes me want to make a difference after listening to this song. great song btw and their new cd major/minor is pretty awesome!
For at least the last 2 months, anytime I hear about something that has troubled my spirit, this song has been resonating in my heart. This song and the song "My Deliverer is Coming" by Rich Mullins. The LORD is so good! Praying for REVIVAL!
