Rudy, I make the same comment on every one of your videos. Every time it gets upvoted, but you never notice. The alternate frame foil rares are the same rarity as what you call box toppers. Every time you have less box toppers than you want, or the clumping isn't together it is because you are getting the alternate frame foils in the last set and ignoring that they are the same thing. Giant Killer for example, just cannot be an extended art foil because it doesn't exist as a card. Instead they give you the alternate frame foil Giant Killer. But it is the same pull.

I was under the impression that the extended art foils do not drop in draft packs where as the showcase frame foils do, making the extended art foils unique to the collectors packs driving up rarity and value. Even if they're considering those two types interchangeable as far as collectors box drop odds the market and rarity between the two types definitely differs substantialy.

What I'm referring to however is when Rudy thinks the print run's issue of clumping is fixed or he thinks there is more variance than there is with the number of special pulls. Value wise you are right, but it doesn't change that Rudy consistently cannot is misunderstanding how the printing of that slot works.

Rudy... the foil alternate cards ARE box toppers. In the first box you got 2 box toppers in the start and then 2 at the very end (clumped) and then you got 4 in a row in the second box (clumped).

Matty Zee I agree.I don’t know why people think it’s a great deal because they’re Going to be lucky if they get their money back. The fact that he is only doing collectors boxes is insane. I could understand if he was doing The regular boxes that’s fine but the fact that people are willing to spend $600 and he’s doing a couple of them a day that is absolutely insane. I’m just surprised that there are that many people who have that much disposable income for magic cards

Matty Zee Yeah, it shouldn’t surprise me that people would skip paying bills and such. It could be an addiction just like any thing for some people. I guess a lot of people have their thing that they spent too much money on. I’m a big fan of playing but I just can’t imagine spending that kind of money. I would feel sick to my stomach if I knew I spent $600 like that

Matty Zee, think of it as more of a palette cleanser from War of the Spark. It’s more on the lighthearted side with tones of Lorwyn. Plus it brought Garruk back into the story.

I have followed the channel about two years, Big Love Rudy. But the hype about showcase rare foils, I just bought Bonecrusher Giant for 4.5 euro. Like Rudy has said in the previous videos the money is in "the second slot", extended non-foils are instant money at least here in the Old Continent.

I haven't watched a lot of these openings but I've noticed the alternate frame rare foils are clumped with the box toppers. Either before after or sometimes in between box toppers. They may be printed on the same sheet. Has anyone who's watched more ToE openings noticed this pattern?

Just as an added single data point; I bought 1 collectors edition single pack blister from Amazon and did pull an extended art foil. So they either didn't search out the toppers or missed the 1 I bought.

Once again wizards has found a way to totally rip off its customers and people are buying into it. They literally have a regular box and then a $300 box where you have a chance to get some really cool looking cards. This set has not shown to be very good value wise but yet people are willing to pay $300 because they might be able to get something amazing. It’s just crazy how many different ways This company has found to make a “specialty” product to get people to pay way too much for something. I just can’t imagine spending $600 and feeling like I spent my money well unless I am able to make a decent amount off of it which I don’t think that ever happening

Out of all the boxes av seen the alternate foil topper uses a box topper slot as there’s always a topper in the next pack unless it was the last pack of the box. So each of they boxes still had the 4 toppers in them.

What comes out of these packs doesn’t hold the price at all. The non-foil and even some foil alternate art, showcase and box toppers are worth shit. Most of them 2-5 bucks. And like you said in your video yesterday, no one cares for those kind of prices. A collection of 10K that is made up out of cards that are 2-5 bucks is worth shit. You’re better off buying the singles you like from this set. Not good for cracking to sell. Sealed box investment? Perhaps, but that’ll take 5-10 years to make you some profit and the buy in is just waay too high. The collector boosters are dead weight in Europe and Japan. They’re being sold for about 20 bucks each and no one’s buying.

The quality paper of those cards is way to acide for long term preservation (ask any archivist how they like modern paper) a 25 year old cards (if the card never seen light/more than 50% humanity) can last 50~75 (in optimal preservation condition) before the paper start the become crumbly and start to destroy himself.

The full art planeswalkers are considered to be showcase/special frame, not extended art box toppers. It's why you pull them in the middle slot.

Rudy opens Embercleave extended art. Later in the video "Wow I think this is our first mythic. And here's our first extended art mythic." Also Rudy the box toppers can be alternate rare frames in the last spot. You get some combination of the 4. Luckily learning from Rudy I only invest in vintage do not reprint tacos.

@Matty Zee True good point, there tends to be a bit of a flood of supply in the initial weeks or so in general. Question would be if or when the prices will start tracking back up. Apart from a few cards, i think the play testing still needs a bit of time to pan out.

@Matty Zee Fair points, bit of a worry EV wise as Dominaria and War haven't been doing that crash hot say compared with Allegiance and Guilds. There may be a bit of time to see if any other planeswalkers in War can make their mark but the time may have past.

Everyone otter know the 2019 gift bundles will basically be a regular 10 pack bundle + 1 collectors pack. Sealed collectors boxes are probably not going to be reprinted.

Rudy, I think there's something your missing with the pattern. I'm pretty sure the clumped box toppers pattern you are talking about holds true in every video I've seen if you count the foil rare storybook border cards as a box topper. They always seem to be clumped in with the extended art foils.

This set had so much potential but the value just isn’t there. Most expensive regular card is 30 and then all the other “high” value cards are 10 or less. At $300 there’s very little chance to get that much value in the collectors packs as well. Seen a few regular box openings and no one is making money. Also who are these people willing to drop $600 on two of these boxes? Crazy so many people have that much extra cash to spend on cards. That’s a vacation or something.

Those boxes were a bit different in regards to the first 9 foils, more instances of 5 Commons and 4 Uncommons (instead of the average 6 Commons and 3 Uncommons)

@Anti-Federalist 1776 if you pull one outside the clump they're not clumped. Like i said, the mythic rarity extended foil is the only card that jumps out of the clump. Once you pull your clump the only chance to get another box topper is a mythic box topper, which as ruddy points out, is super difficult. (I pulled questing beast my first pack and then 3 more+alternate frame in the second half of my box) the mythic box topper seems to be the only random outlier for cracking these boxes.

was originally an extra card (foil extended art (no borders were the art is)) in the Ultimate Masters box. This box topper looks like pretty much the foil Extended art Rare/Mythics in Throne of Eldraine/ELD Collectors boxes.

Yea funny that, he mentioned that this product really helps the LGS's stay afloat, but for a guy who doesn't help/serve the local gaming community he's able to get more than 15X the allocation of say a normal LGS. He rags on the big boys but at least Channel Snowball, Card Castle and co help support the players, build the gaming community and facilitates events. If Rudy were one of the big boys (in this sense)......would he? If he can't trust anyone else to work in his business besides himself, i'm highly doubtful of that. I think he is trully the one driven solely by the $$$$ signs.
