@@amanisalone the real fun here is when somebody asks you about why you're using dice with no numbers, you say in a slightly surprised, slightly skeptical tone of voice, you can't see the numbers? If you want to take it to the next level bring a friend have them sit at a table nearby, and confirm that they can see the numbers fine....

Buy a pack of index cards and write your desired outcomes on one side. Shuffle and enjoy. Or roll dice and consult a lookup table. Same outcome. D12 x D12 = 144 outcomes which is greater than a deck of cards.

Same way you use a d100 out of two d10s I imagine, either call it a d144 or d1212. People call the similar d6 x d6 lookup grid a d66 even though it isn't

I’ve avoided RPGs that use regular playing cards, and I haven’t played the games I inadvertently got not knowing they use them. But just recently I’ve been coming around to the concept. I associate playing cards too much with the ordinary world I’m using a game to escape from, probably because it was always what the grownups did when I was little, while dice were magic tools for kids playing D&D. But I picked up a couple of artistically designed, fancy-themed playing card decks that put me more in the mind frame for gaming, so I’m going to give it a try.

Roll for initiative. Also, because I'm the GM, I'm going to have you roll with QUADRUPLE DISADVANTAGE. This means roll four times, take the lowest result, and also subtract four from that result, and also my character is water-based and therefore impervious to flames.

If you want a fun way to increase tension for skill checks, use Jenga for success. It really adds a push your luck element to the session. In one game we used Jenga as each players life, it fails and you die. Once you get to a safe town and rest, reset your stack.

Yes, this is a great system too that is used in some solo journaling games like carved in the garden! Methinks a great system for tension when you're alone too...just the thought of the tower crashing down and shattering the serene silence.

I made a deck of six cards. I numbered them one though six then I lay they flat on the table shuffle them about then randomly pick one to replace dice rolls. If I need higher numbers I just make more cards. I've considered writing them on bits of screwed up paper and putting them in a top hat. But I do not currently own a top hat

Lenormand deck. 36 cards all with illustrations and meanings, associated with standard playing card values (6 through Ace). Draw three and combine when you need inspiration.

A standard deck of 52 cards means you *could* make a custom deck with 2 suits going 1-20, and 2 other suits going 1-6. Which means you could have die replacement for 2d20s, 2d10s or d100, and 4d6 if you wanted. I kind of want to make a set now just to have as a die replacement for solo games now. Do every suit a different color so like black red blue green? It's no fun having those D&D sessions where you fumble *every* roll

While watching the video I came up with a new idea (to me at least)..... how about using a newspaper or random book in some kind of way ? I think that's super accessible and also means each publication produces different numbers or words???? I got all the cards for Ker Nethalas, got covers for them, just picked up a card sorter tray to hold them all better than a bunch of piles covering the table, got a character made, and maybe I’ll actually play it one of these days (soon!) Edit: turns out cards don't fit correctly with covers on them

Ok, so let's unpack this: 1. Dude gives terrible, life altering advice for the sole purpose of attracting attention. 2. Dude immediately 'fess's up. 3. Dude then doubles down on the initial bad vibes by admitting it was all intentional and he even NOW is STILL fishing for attention. 4. Dude manipulates with an appeal to emotion, then 5. Dude then sketches out his own redemption arc and makes it clear that doing the bad thing (Step 1) and then immediately fessing up (Step 2) were already the beginnings of said redemption arc.
