Throwing / Making a Pottery Cookie Jar & Lid on the Wheel.
This is a simple shaped pot which a gallery is formed at the rim for the lid to sit in. The lids are a simple easy to make flat shape done by simply pressing the clay towards the centre to make the knob..

It's relaxing once you can do it, but it can take months to even center the clay if you've never tried it berore. Thanks.

I could see how that may be, but you sir make it look pretty easy! I'm a visual learner and sometimes seeing is all it takes, just sometimes though. Especially things that involves my hands. if I ever get the opportunity to try I'll come back and let you know how it went, I suppose I'm just being optimistic lol

Its a lot more difficult then you think. I too watched a bunch of youtube videos and then decided to take a class. 2 and a half months later, I'm only just getting to the point of being able to center consistently. I'm taking the class again next term, though, because it is very fun when you get the hang of it.

You and your father are amazing! I started a ceramics class at school several weeks ago & I fell in love with pottery within the first two weeks. I wasn't quite satisfied with my skills, so I looked up techniques on RU-vid and I am so grateful to have found your videos. To a beginner like me, your skills and speed look unbelievable. I watched some of your videos before I found how to throw a teapot yesterday; I was dumbfounded and so happy to see (who I now know is your father) such a talented person at work. I feel as if I improved by just observing your different methods :) Can you please make another video on this specific design? I really want to achieve his effect. Thank you!

I love trying all kinds of different things, from pyrography to polished tile coasters, dream catchers, and making jewelery, the list goes on. Though i lost interest in most of it. Then my husband showed me a couple of your videos and now i'm hooked. I love all the pieces you have made. I can't wait to start making my first piece, hmmm...which will probably take me months to get right! But cheers for inspiring me to try something new!

I enjoy watching yo throw. Your technique is different than mine, so interesting to watch. Your work is beautiful. Throwing is very addicting, to me. If I could I would just sit and throw all day, every day. But the ergonomics and economics keep that from happening. Thanks for sharing your work. Do you electric fire or gas fire? Reduction, salt? Would love to se the finished pieces, too. Thanks. Oh, you know, I just went to your FB page! There are lots of pieces on there! Beautiful!

@marshmallow1187
@marshmallow1187 7 лет назад
The inside doesn't get soft as fast as you think... and at the end you can see him take a sponge to remove the water on the inside because it would eat away at the clay as it dries

@IngletonPottery

This will sell for about £12 in our shop, we're not pretentious and charge hundreds of pounds or dollars for our pots. It'll take a lot more time to fire, glaze and fettle the pot before it's ready for sale. Plus you need a big building to house the kilns and workshop and shop and if you look at the price of properties in the UK you'll see it's not just as easy to make money as you think. Thanks.

@connorcaproon451
@connorcaproon451 7 лет назад
Chelsea Armour yes but his wheel has pins on it so the bats lock into place on their own
@IngletonPottery
@IngletonPottery 7 лет назад
It's for added suction to the wheelhead. The pins stop it from going off center but you can still lift the bat clean off the head when you lift up, so adding some slip or water helps stop this. Thanks.
