In this long term Thursday Boot Co. review, we’re going to take a look at a pair of Chelsea boots I’ve owned for 3+ years now. These have gotten a ton of wear since I got them. They were the first pair of Chelsea boots that I really fell in love with and wore regularly, and I want to share with you my thoughts and recommendation after having them for over 3 years.

These boots have aged nicely and gotten more comfortable with time. They definitely get my seal of approval, so if you’re thinking about buying them, you have my support.
This is Thursday’s first iteration of the Chelsea boot, a style that made a huge comeback a few years ago and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, at least not anytime soon.
I really don’t have any complaints about the Thursday Boot Co. Duke. It’s a casual Chelsea boot made with remarkably durable suede, and it’s a Goodyear welted boot for a very reasonable price.
My only advice for you is this: if you want a dressy boot that you can wear with dress pants or even suits, The Duke wouldn’t be my top pick.
But for me? With its casual silhouette, comfy footbed and versatile honey color, the Duke has become a staple in my wardrobe, and I don’t think that’ll change anytime soon.

I’m so happy you made this video! I have a pair of these same ones but in brown leather and those things have been through a LOT. Just as with yours, they’re comfy, worn in, and look just as great as the first day (especially after a good shine). Only complaint is they’re a bit slippery sometimes, but other than that I can’t recommend these enough. I got mine my senior year of college and they’ve taken me from graduation, to my first whole year at a big boy job. Thanks Brock!

I got the original Dark brown suede Chukka and have had 3+ years now and going strong with multiple wears, like you they are my most worn boot. Holding up exceptionally well!

Just picked up a pair in these in smooth brown leather, really loving them so far. One thing to note is that the smooth leather does get scuffed up pretty easily, so you'll need to polish and care for them, probably more so than the suede options.

A nice looking pair of boots. If you ever get a chance try the Australian brand RM Williams. I have had a pair of their Chelsea for years and they just get better and better with age. Mine are whole cut dark brown calf with leather sole. Beautifully made boots

I had just bought and returned these boots. Great price point. They wore huge, like jordans or basketball shoes. Was not really impressed on the looks as they seems to be very bulky. Quality is awesome. I was very excited as I watched a ton of videos on these but was very disappointed when I had received them. I wasn't going to go with the slimmer one from Thursday boot as I figured they were going to be just a smidge different. Looking for another brand, probably going to step up and get Allen Edmonds chelsea liverpool. Appreciate the vid.

These are definitely casual chelseas. For something in between, check out Oliver Cabell or Beckett Simonon. For dressier, Allen Edmonds, Ace Marks or Paul Evans would be better.

I'm having a bit of trouble with wearing chelsea boots casually.Maybe I would wear them to work but not during leisure time. I live in Manila Philippines and it is very dustyand muddy here. We have a tropical climate that is not good for suede shoes or thin midsoles. Pluswe are a thrid world country and most people here have the wrong negative perception that if you dress well, you are a snob or corrupt, or that you look down on people. I don;tlike to wear white leather sneakers either like Stan Smiths, because it gets dirty so quickly. for casual look I like wearing training shoes or running shoes. Sports shoes that's not too bulky but not too thin like vans either. Maybe someday you can do a fashion travel series. Go to places where the weather is unforgiving,humid and rugged like Vietnam, or Israel or Thailand,or the Philippines and I would be interested to know what you would wear in certain different environments.

i also live in Philippines and I'd care less about what people think of the way i dress, even if they think im someone to rob, they'll be surprised that I've had training from when i was still a teenager. people think dressing up is hot and uncomfortable, but that's their problem, i can already guess they've based their experience from wearing unbearable polyester fabrics and plastic school shoes. though our country's climate is usually hot compared to Baguio's cold weather, so I adapt by wearing oxford shirts (breathable weave) and summer suits (linen blends and tropical fabric), do keep in mind to go light colours because black, navy, or darker colours absorb sunlight rather than reflect them and as for shoes, loafers or monk strops with no-show socks are what i go for when i don't go brogue dress boots. but hey, this is how i like it, you can still have your own approach.

What do recommend for a dressy, quality made, black leather Chelsea with a bit of a heel? I love the "From the First" - Stefano boot. But it's been sold out for a year straight. I love the YSL too but i cant justify $1,000 for a single pair of shoes.

I have several pair of Thursday Boots boots and shoes. Most of the boots and shoes shoes fit me great at the recommended half size down but had to go full size down with the Thursday Boot Chelsea's. The half size down was just too big even though they still recommend ordering a half size down.

Weird...sizing seems to be inconsistent across styles. I found their loafers to run large compared to their boots.

Every foot is unique so there can be some variances in the sizing but I'm happy to hear that you found the right fit. This is weird to say but that pair of boots (your pair) represent the time in my life when I started caring a lot more about my style. Your "Do Chelsea Boots Make You Taller?" video was one of the videos that I used to begin my quest. This winter, I finally hope to get a pair of my own as a representation of my journey! That being said, have you noticed any issues with the footbed collapsing/getting less comfortable over time? With the Kavalier's post-purchase check-in, he has noted that it got less comfortable despite being very comfortable initially (as a result of the cork).

Kinda unrelated, but I was wondering if you knew if jeans and dress pants (suit) fit differently? I wear a size 30*30 jeans/pants all the time, but I had a suit tailor made from Jos A. bank and the pants they gave me were size 30R, and they seem really long for some reason. I've been looking into getting these boots for a smart casual wardrobe, thanks for the review. Couple questions... What have you done to maintain these (any waterproofing sprays, suede eraser, suede brush, etc.) and did you use a shoe tree and leave a day between wears most times or no? Thanks!

The Modest Man I just got their chukka’s and some shoe trees right now. Everybody on the East Coast of Canada currently wears blundstones and I just don’t fine them worth it when they’re cemented and same price as these Duke’s. Nice to know they can take a beating, now I need a pair lol

I ordered a pair of these due to all of the positive press they have been receiving online, & they just arrived today. They are beautiful boots, & they appear to be very well made. Unfortunately, they are not for me. I got them in an 11 Wide, & they are actually slipping at the heel, but too narrow at the front of my foot. It's also a shame that out of all of the RU-vid videos I've seen, not a single one mentioned that the insole is not removable. I actually have prescription orthotics I will not be able to put into the boot. They are certainly fine looking boots, I just wish they made wider sizes, & had removable insoles.

Bought a pair and they run Big! Even taking the half size down from my speaker's size like they suggest, they still large for me. So be very careful with sizing.

your right bro i bought arizona and duke. the duke runs big you have to full size down to your regular sneaker size. what i did is i put insole and it works.

Great site, but I have trouble finding ANY of the styles you show in clothes that fit me. Here is my predicament: I’m a 39 year old man that is 5’2” and weigh just under 105lbs. Most people say to shop kids dept, but hose clothes don’t fit either. If the length fits the waist is WAY to big. If the waist fits, the length is above my ankles.. I could have them altered but even in that case the legs and ankles of the finished product are way to wide. I don’t have as much trouble finding a shirt, but shoes (I wear a 5.5-6 narrow) and dress pants are impossible! Anyone have any pointers?

I just bought a pair of cavilers and got a half size down from my normal size and they aren’t tight but aren’t big. Should I return them for a whole size down from my normal sneaker or should I keep the ones I have now that are only a half size smaller?

If they aren't tight, and your feet aren't sliding around, they probably fit well. If you think they're too big, I'd try a half size down, then return whichever one doesn't fit. Better to go slightly too big than slightly too small.

How do you keep them looking this nice? I got mine less than a year ago, wearing them almost everyday. I use shoe trees and polish them when needed but they aged pretty badly.

Hey! A little conditioner goes a long way when it comes to maintaining the leather. That being said when it comes to leather in general, if you wear them everyday they will gather creasing , scratches and scuffs but it's with age that they actually look best. If you stop by a local cobbler he would be able to add that professional touch with polish and shoe care! Best, Kendra from Thursday

Wish I bought these. I got the AE Higgins Mill after several recommendations and all I can say is that I’ve suffered for one year trying to make them more comfortable and have gotten nowhere.

I am surprised to hear from you that the boots have gotten more comfortable over time. In multiple reviews they talk about “the drop”. That the cushioning bottoms out over time. Now I don’t know what to believe in. 🤷‍♂️

Hey! We've updated a few things since our initial run of boots. On our men's boots and Goodyear welt dress shoes last spring we implemented preformed shock-absorbing antimicrobial 17 shore A poron insoles with an embedded custom-made shank for each last. It has a better rebound effect than EVA and leather, and it's antimicrobial (leather can get mold and start to smell pretty fast). You shouldn't have a problem with the insoles but in the long term you need replacements we can have them sent. We tested EVERYTHING and I think you'll approve! Those boots don't have 3 years of semi-regular usage (1-2 times per week). These boots have barely been worn. Look at the outsoles at: 0:19, 0:29, 0:38, 2:05. These boots are barely worn! I would know, I own 10 pairs of Thursday boots. This video is false advertising...
