I’ve put my pair of Thursday’s through two years of hard wear (and I mean hiking, backpacking, all over the continental USA, as well as regular wear) and they are honestly one of the best purchases I’ve made. It’s sad to hear from the comments that others haven’t had the same experience, but in my personal use, they’ve exceeded my expectations. 1) Gorgeous, tough leather, 2) Easy to maintain (two years + regular conditioning and polishing and they’re still in amazing shape), 3) Comfortable as all heck, 4) Age beautifully (Trust me, after two years, they look better than they did when I first got them), 5) Amazing price. All in all, essentially a perfect all around boot for the price! PS. Great video, great channel!

I bought the Captain Arizona Adobe for my husband about 10 months ago and he really likes them, but they're not very durable like Thursday Boots said they would be. He used to wear them them about 3 times a week, up until the point when the stitching on the outsole started wasting away (about 4-5 months into having them). He works inside a building so it's not like they would've wasted away from rough terrain. Also, the outsole and midsole are splitting apart in the front and the sides. While some wear and tear is expected, he didn't expect that much wearing down so soon. He still really likes these boots and will be taking them to a cobbler, these are just some things to keep in mind if you decide to purchase from Thursday Boots.

Thanks nick, since looking at your vid along with some others on Thursday boots I pulled the trigger and got the same pair that are in this vid. They are surprisingly comfortable and I'm somewhat in love with them....weird but true. I sized down a half a size BUT they were too small in length so I went with my standard size 9 wide, which they only offer in 4 different finishes. So far I really like them and will definitely recommend them to others.

Great review my good man! I first heard of Thursday Boot on Barstool sports. I believe it was the Kirk Minihaine podcast. Hilarious show by the way but I digress. This is honestly one of the best pair of boots I've ever owned in my life. Certainly the most comfortable. Great quality for the price.

I've got a pair of the Brown Scouts that I purchased before Christmas 2017 and those have held up nicely. These are so nice that I'm buying another pair. I did not want the clunky work boot look of the Red Wings, so the Thursday Boots satisfied me.

Just purchased my first pair of Thursday Captains in tobacco and I'm hooked. These are very satisfying boots to wear and part of that is the perceived value given the price. My first full day wearing them was a 12 hour day mostly on my feet. I took a backup pair of sneaks to change into just in case and didn't need to. Definitely purchasing more.

I own a pair of Thursday's captain boots with a Terracotta finish. I've had them four or five months now and have to say I love them. I agree with almost all of the information in your review. They are very solid, well finished and comfortable. I hope to have mine a long time. Two relatively minor points of disagreement with your review: mine scuff relatively easily. Those scuffs buff out with some minor polishing and regular care, so it's not a concern for me. Also, their sizing system is pretty accurate, although not perfect for me. I typically wear a size 8 shoe. I bought the same size of Thursday captains, but will occasionally feel my toes pressing against the front of the boot when I"m wearing a pair of thick socks. My next pair will be an 8 1/2. If anything, I would urge people to buy a half size larger than their shoe sizes. Thanks for the review.

I want to order my first pair of boots. Them being the Captain Tobacco but I want to know if you’ve changed your mind on sizing. I normally wear a size 10.5 with my Jordans and Nikes and that leaves me with some room in the toe but that’s how I like it to fit. I’ve never liked my toes to be right on the edge. Would you still recommend going a half size down? Once again this is going to be my first boot ever. Really don’t know how boots should fit or anything. Nice video btw Please reply.

This was really a great review. As a result have purchased 2 pairs of Captains and couldn't be happier. I'm very curious as to which conditioning product you have been using on this particular pair of boots? I really like the shine on your boots. You mentioned saphia renevateur in the video. Is that what you use? I tried the Venetian shoe cream they recommended and the finish was not as shiny as I prefer. Also curious about your experience with their new Medaille d'or line. Bought mine today. The tobacco color was out, so I settled on Whiskey. I wanted the "comando" textured sole- tryin to get more slip resistance and was worried the standard sole would not have enough grip on damp surfaces.

Im honestly stumped by the negative reviews thursdays get. I have 3 pairs and am pondering ordering a pair of presidents. My Captains are perfect going on a year, and while the internet may not believe me, I actually prefer the thursday desert boots to my allen edmonds dessert boots (im looking at you r/goodyearwelt). I've had zero quality control issues, they've worn well, and having a big wide foot its hard to find a pair thats just right. Whatever last Thursday uses is great for us wide footed few.

Ordered a Thursday Captain base on your video. Three weeks in and loving it! The insole could use a little more padding but for 199, cant complain.

What would you use to recolor and clean some Thursdays? I'm finding my method of shoe care x2 a year leaves my black Captains a bit sticky: - Goat-hair brush cleaning - Fiebing's saddle soap - Cadillac leather lotion (changed to Saphir Renovateur) - Kelly's shoe cream - Lincoln wax if I want a mirror shine Granted, I'm probably using a 30 to 40-year-old horsehair brush (my dad's Kiwi, that I'm retiring this week). Maybe I should just try a damp cloth cleaning and Saphir next time? BTW the above combo works wonders on Allen Edmonds shoes, just not on Thursdays mix of chrome and oil tanning.

Hi Nick, thanks for this review from last year. Because of it, I purchased the same exact pair you're reviewing here. I have had nothing but horrible luck with boots and shoes if I don't try them in stores first. Although I am a size 11.5 D (on the Brannock Device), I've found that for most boots I need to go to an EE (E2)--especially Red Wing models, which seem to run narrow. Anyway, so my pair of Captains was bought from the TBC site without trying them on. I sized down a half size (per your advice) and got the D (wasn't available in EE, at least last year). When they arrived, besides looking classy and gorgeous out of the box, with trepidation, I put them on. Amazing fit! I mean unbelievable. I mean the best fit for a boot I've ever had. I can't tell you if I ever "broke them in" because they always felt like a Nike running shoe on my foot. It just conformed right away, so I don't feel there was a break-in period at all. I wore them for a season and just a few weeks ago, feeling happy with TBC, I got the Vanguards made in the USA (also taking your advice from another video review). I struggled w/the Vanguards for 3 weeks, putting probably 40 miles on them. Feet were torn up. They ran very narrow. I got a size 12 (half size up; I had heard they were true to size and thought I'd wear thick socks in winter w/them) D width. I couldn't take them anymore, after constantly wearing them. They seem to have been getting narrower instead of breaking in. When I sized them up against the Captains, they looked shorter. Size 12D shorter than size 11D? Weird. Going from the Vanguards to the Captains was like going from tight vises around my foot to a custom made athletic shoe. I am currently in the process of speaking w/TBC to see what can be done about the Vanguards that I cannot wear, and that they won't take back (policy: returns/exchanges for TBC: never worn, ship back in original packaging--which is in itself flawed as people need to at least TRY to break them in before returning.) So currently the good looking, rugged (burnt copper) Vanguards that are super tight are sitting in a box in the corner of my room. My Captains have saved me. Night and day. And, like I said, they're smaller by one size--despite looking slightly longer than the Vanguards. So...re: the made in the USA Vanguards: manufacturing issues? Is it a true 12? Why is it narrower than my Captains D? Also, stitching on the Vanguard left toe came loose after 2 days of wearing! Hmmm....So, we'll see about those. But the Captains? Absolute dream boot, at least for me. Never tried them in store (I don't live in Manhatta or NY state). They fit me like they've been custom made. So the jury is still out for me on TBC as it seems they sort of lack consistency across their models. I was/am so sad to not be able to wear my Vanguards. They are a seeming great competitor to the Iron Ranger line from Red Wing, but...I suspect manufacturing inconsistencies. Sorry this is so long, my Captains vs. Vanguards has been a saga. Cheers!

I was real skeptical about them because they were so inexpensive but I love mine. I use saddle soap they are getting a great patina.

Do these boots scratch easily ?? I bought a pair on Amazon and they already have so many scratches that leather palm/colouring doesn't restore

My feet are nearly identical to yours I measure around 11.6 on bran nock? So I tried the Thursday captain in a size 11 but they were too big in the toe area so I’m trying a size 10 instead you think a size 10 will be good?

Love mine too! Been a year now since I've had it. These days it's hard to find footwear that's actually made to last. The leather seem to look better as it ages and the scratches and wrinkles from my daily adventures seem to give the boot some personality.

I love these reviews. It helped me feel confident about making my first purchase today of a Thursday Captain. That said, it was pretty disappointing to have written to Thursday Book Company twice and not hear back from them. Maybe that's why the boots are $199 instead of more to support a call-in operation, but perhaps the nature of a DTC Web-based business. Looking forward to getting them,.

Have you thought about reviewing the Alden 4513/4515 Pegasus or the Red Wing Williston? They seem be of similar style to the Thursday Captain and President.

I finally got my hands on a pair of the Captains and they are gorgeous! Quality control seems to be on point, I had to make a size exchange but both pairs were flawless to my untrained eyes. Comfortable on the first wear and likely improving fast due to the combination of a soft lining leather and a moderately thick outer. Does anyone here have experience of the EE sizing of the captain? I went up a full size from my Red Wing last 8 9.5EE and am now very happy. Multiple sources (including Stridewise, bootspy and Thursday's) state that in D width Red Wing and Thursday's size the same. IF the situation is different in EE it might be helpful if anyone in the same situation confirmed it here. On the other hand, my feet might just be weird. :P

I may have missed it but did you elaborate on that extra stitching across the toes? The only difference between that and the president is the toe stitching. What is that for?
