i disagree about the most important moves being screech/fake tears. mostly because they are only useful pre tera shield. great for setting up OHKOs, but if you cannot do that, or you fail, then other moves outclass quite easily. this is made even more obvious with randoms when you only get 1 screech/fake tears off before they proc shield for example. so alrdy screech/fake tears becomes situational and niche bc you need to have teammates that understand a support debuffing. personally, the most important moves are those that charge tera while also activating a secondary effect so they never lose their usefulness OR taunt. the reason i believe this is bc a lot of attackers alrdy get a way to increase their own damage, so damage mitigation becomes more important, specifically for sustaining thru and surviving 6 star raids. and taunt is useful bc its generally a safe t1 unless magic bounce, so it either enables set up or stops it which is why its personally my favorite move and what i would consider to be most important. skitter smack (lower spAtk), lunge (lower atk), struggle bug (lower spAtk), snarl (lower spAtk), breaking swipe (lowers atk), spirit break (lower spAtk), fire lash (lower def), apple acid (lower spDef), grav apple (lowers def), trop kick (lowers atk), acid spray (lower spDef), chilling water (lowers atk) nuzzle (paralyze), mud slap (accuracy drop), lick (paralyze chance), dragon breath (paralyze chance) ill also take this moment to mention, speed benchmarks are very important for supports. 237 speed lets you outspeed all taunters/status that arent gengar/lycanroc. 254 speed allows you to outspeed them. most supports can hit 237 speed tho they may have to use a +speed nature (umbreon/corv for example), most supports cannot hit 254. id put polteageist in very specific comp, as weak armor is quite literally only useful in supporting physical attackers. it would be D supporting special attackers. for tsareena try out trop kick, reflect/light screen, taunt, fling. with the physical oriented one holding flame orb and the special oriented holding light ball. use fling after tera shield goes up and it clears buffs. oranguru is great outside of instruct as well, specifically if you also have umbreon. umbreon with snarl, light screen, taunt, skill swap. oranguru with chilling water, reflect, taunt, skill swap. so between the two you are able to cover both special and physical raids very easily. replace noivern with golduck. it gets light screen, chilling water, screech, taunt, skill swap, clear smog and much more while also being able to hit 254 speed to out taunt gengar and lyncaroc. grumpig can also hit 254 speed and gets access to snarl/chilling water, light screen/reflect, taunt, skill swap, and more. glad someone else enjoys wonder room duck tho, and was INCREDIBLE to see someone else use grumpig. i too hate dashbun, but it gets snarl and lick. it can accomplish what azu does but for special, while azu with chilling water can handle physicals or hybrid damage with light screen. gyrados is great VS flareon, fire tauros, physical fires basically. chilling water, helping hand, taunt, rain dance. taunt t1 stops will o wisp, chilling water/rain dance keeps it under control, HH for fun. honestly kinda funny you say qwilfish is just better while also saying its missing helping hand which gyra gets. support luxray is quite nice for a lot of electric specials. snarl, light screen, eerie impulse, electric terrain is what i run. terrain could easily be HH, fake tears, or even howl. never thought to use eviolite honestly, thats lovely. big disagree on gardevoir, she's the perfect answer to gardevoir 6 stars. mystical fire, light screen, taunt, skill swap. wonderful special support. also disagree on medicham. fling, light screen/reflect, taunt, skill swap. physical oriented use flame orb, special oriented light ball. use fling after tera shield goes up and it clears buffs. the thing thats nice about medicham is that it allows you to use OTHER physical attackers and make them just as good as the ones you listed. it pulls its weight if you use quite literally any physical attacker thats not one of those honestly bc then anyone can hit as hard as azu, iron hands, etc. some more thoughts: safeguard supports seem very underrated. florges, rabsca, alomomola, lumineon, altaria, arbolivia, and eviolite dragonair specifically. ive had a lot of success with weather supports, my personal favorite being dragapult as it completely counters water tauros. ghost tera dragapult@leftovers (cursed body, +def -atk), 252 hp/252 def/6 spDef, dragon breath, reflect, will o wisp, sunny day. it refuses to use raging bull bc ghost typing so it wont break screens and only hits you with thrash which confuses it. sunny day prevents rain power spike. will o wisp is pretty much a t1 thing, and HH would probably be better in the long run. another good example is the weather wars that can happen with orthworm causing it to continually spam sandstorm. other fun weather supports: fortress, brongzong, glaceon, delibird, slowking, cryogonal, frosmoth, abomasnow, and coalossal. supports that are "good" ive found: klefki, squawkabilly, bruxish, eelektross, hatterene, pachirisu, eviolite haunter, swalot, amoongus, sableye, dedenne, grafaiai, and friend guard eviolite jigglypuff. ive also had quite a lot of fun with magic powder hatterene as well as quite a few soaker mons capable of saving raids when people make less than ideal typing choices. a special shout out to mist supports as well, specifically for apple and dragalge raids. supports i consider underrated: water tera clawitzer@leftovers (mega launcher, +def -atk), 252 hp/252 def/6 spDef, chilling water, helping hand, heal pulse, entrainment. water tera meowscarada@leftovers (protean, +def -atk), 252 hp/252 def/6 spDef, chilling water, grassy terrain, taunt, worry seed. bug tera rabsca@leftovers (telepathy), lunge/struggle bug, reflect/light screen, safeguard, skill swap. for def ev's: 252 hp/252 def/6 spDef (+def nature.) for spDef ev's: 252 hp/252 spDef/6 def (+spDef nature.) water tera lumineon@leftovers (storm drain, +def -atk), 252 hp/252 def/6 spDef, chilling water, tickle, soak, safeguard. water tera masquerain@leftovers (intimidate, +def -atk), 252 hp/252 def/6 spDef, chilling water, struggle bug, helping hand, soak. dark tera toxtricity@wide lens (punk rock, +def -atk), 252 hp/252 def/6 spDef, snarl, acid spray, nuzzle, screech. if you would like me to go into more detail about any of this let me know, sorry for rambling so much but this was honestly a fantastic video, i learned some shit and im so incredibly happy others enjoy supporting this much. thank you, defo subbed.

Thanks for the detailed write up. I won’t respond to everything, because there is a lot lol. The main thing I’ll say is that you are really overvaluing the long-game, and preparing for what happens after shields. In general, plan A is to try to go for that turn 1-3 OHKO, and have a fallback strategy so you aren’t totally useless if shields go up. As such, I value what you get done before shields more than what happens afterward. Also, even if your teammates are extremely impatient, you will still be able to get off a single screech/fake tears before shields go up. This straight up doubles any damage for ANY raiding party against almost any boss. This can be later cleared by certain bosses, but since this is a race against the clock, amplifying your team’s damage output massively and generically is critical to success. I would definitely never call screech/tears niche, even with the most braindead random parties. Taunt, while great, is blocked by shields, is not necessary for all bosses (e.g. all out attackers like garchomp), and only one support needs to bring taunt to cover the whole team (while you usually want multiple supports using screech/tears/etc). Without screech/tears, if you get stuck with shields for too long (due to low damage output), taunt will wear off, which usually leads to dire consequences if you really needed it. Damage mitigation is especially useful with randoms who can’t crank out reliable OHKOs, but damage mitigation moves have a very broad distribution (given you get choices across screens, chilling water, snarl; skitter smack, spirit break, trop kick…). As most rando parties are physical, screech is highly covetted, and its tighter distribution becomes the limitting factor. btw Leftovers is generally an undesirable item for team play, not because the effect is bad, but because the constant lag from the animations is actively detrimental. Sitrus is more common so you only suffer one animation IF you get brought to low HP. It’s the same reason I avoid booster energy on scream tail-to avoid animation/textbox delay in the first few critical turns.

@@loupandsnoop i figured your response would be something similar to this. i meant to add in all that 'i realize our supporting is quite different, as you focus on damage enhancement, while i prefer damage mitigation.' i do think you're correct about how effective damage enhancement is, specifically with a coordinated team, but as you said, damage mitigation is useful with randoms, which is generally how i play, so makes sense. i also understand why people dont like leftovers, but since i use multiple mons with stall tactics (like arbolivia for example, or really any leech seeder) it doesnt bother me as much. bright powder and covert cloak are my other most used items, usually when the mon has reliable self recovery. sitrus i found i never proc'd on most mons, and those i do use it on (arbolivia once again bc harvest lmao, uses it multiple times.) hoping they will somehow fix this at some point but not holding my breath ya kno? the reason i developed this 'style' i guess (lol) is bc of how often i ran into damage enhancement supports actually. i figured it would be more beneficial in general to cover both areas of supporting, so i always love getting paired with damage enhancement supports, always feel very safe. i do agree i overvalue the long game, but when everyone else is playing damage enhancement supports (dare i say overvaluing the early game? lmao), someone needs to is kinda how i look at it, especially when its randoms. but i do agree the goal should generally be to OHKO with plan a, im just plan b. thanks once again for the video and responding! its lovely to see how others support truly.

occasionally ill rewatch this vid, its great. anywho, i still think this is the best general support breakdown vid, and for that reason imma just leave another comment with some new friends ive found in case anyone stumbles across this in the future. hope you're doing good n all that jazz~ so i revisited dachsbun and turns out it does have a niche it can fill afterall. with its aroma veil ability (prevents this pokemon and allies from effects that prevent use of moves) works wonderfully for taunt, torment, disable, curse body type raids. moveset is charm/snarl, mud slap, helping hand, misty terrain. charm for the physical build, snarl for the special. female oinkologne can do this as well with aroma veil but with chilling water, mud slap, helping, sunny day. so i guess they can go in specific comp? no idea. maybe there should be a raid specific tier, as in they are only good in specific raids, and outside of those, average or below? idk. another fun support ive been messing around with is misty terrain grimsnarl. the gimmick is you have both swagger and flatter to use on teammates to raise their stats, and bc of misty terrain you wont confuse them. i dont think this changes his tiering at all tho. the last move is taunt, just in case. spiritomb has been pretty fun as well, kinda like sableye really. snarl, will o wisp, helping hand, foul play/filler. i would say its typing is probably the reason to use it. it does get taunt but its extremely slow so youll always get taunted before you can taunt i imagine, for that reason its at least C tier but prob D. arcanine (or eviolite growlithe?) with intimidate is decent, with snarl, charm, howl, helping hand. better at supporting physicals bc of howl obviously. probably would throw it in specific comp. scizor, what i used for the greninja raids. i highly doubt evasion will be a regular thing but it was fun. struggle bug, light screen, defog, helping hand. appletun with apple acid, light screen/reflect, helping hand, filler. apple acid (-1 spDef) is just a worse acid spray (-2) honestly, but it does have the advantage of being able to hit steel types which is something! anywho, im done rambling, thanks again for this vid.

Hi, this is an amazing video. I have to say though - I have one friend I do all my 6★ raids with, and Weak Armor Polteageist is incredible, it beats most everything. It swaps Weak Armor onto the enemy, debuffs it with Strength Sap or Astonish while Weak Armor procs repeatedly, then the other player can hit it with a max attack from Azumarill or Medicham or Iron Hands or whatever. Instantly clears raids with problem abilities like Killowattrel or Gyarados.
@loupandsnoop
@loupandsnoop Год назад
Thanks. For raids with hard abilities like that, it is more normal to pick a pokemon with skill swap and screech, like Umbreon or Misdreavus. It’s not that polteageist doesn’t work, but other pokemon can get a similar job done while also providing other types of support throughout the match, and being much bulkier. Also, I stopped running strength sap because it would get blocked by shields so frequently that I just got more value out of screens.
@thoseriseofkingdomsadswith972
I'm back again, LMAO. A little correction, Magneton can ALSO learn Helping Hand. So it now becomes a toss up. Magneton: HP: 304 Def: 317 (475 w/ Eviolite) SpD: 262 (393 w/ Eviolite) Magnezone: HP: 344 Def: 361 SpD: 306 Magneton is superior in both defenses with Eviolite. The issue now is you don't get to use Wide Lens (or Zoom Lens in some raids like the recent Typhlosion). I personally find Magnezone to be superior just for the 93% (or 100% w/ the situational Zoom Lens) accuracy on both Screech and Metal Sound over the usual 85% despite being less bulky. I also think Eelektross has a good niche with Crush Claw, Acid Spray, Electric Terrain, Eerie Impulse, and GASTRO ACID, which is basically the superior Worry Seed when used offensively.

No Hatterene? Life Dew, Helping Hand, Screens, Misty/Psychic terrain with good special bulk and able to cover physical with charm?
@loupandsnoop
@loupandsnoop Год назад
Hatterene is a fine cleric. Probably still D tier, as she still gets outclassed hard by several other pokemon, like Gothitelle and Wigglytuff. Just because of movepool. Nuzzle cannot make up for lacking both fake tears and taunt, which both goth and wiggly get. Magic Bounce is also not super useful because you should be taunting the boss to stop status moves, and Magic bounce makes you not want to take skill swap, which is a move that would otherwise really help hatterene justify a team slot.

Thanks for this! Do you have any suggestions for the pikachu raid rn?
@loupandsnoop
@loupandsnoop Год назад
Sure. For pikachu, the support I recommend is Toedscruel (max HP, max SpDef). Give him knock off, acid spray, light screen/reflect (up to your taste and how much you can rely on team to get up sun/light screen), and mud slap. Knock off can get rid of pikachu’s light ball, which basically halves his damage output. It’s just janky right now because GF doesn’t know how to code or test their games (sometimes knock off won’t knock off, and sometimes it will, and we don’t know why yet). But when knock off actually works, you will ez-clap the pikachu. Mud slap can both debuff pikachu or buff Lurantis’ leaf storm accuracy. Other supports that will totally work for pikachu (it depends on what your squad brings) are clodsire, arboliva, wo chien, and goodra. Several other pokemon can work, but these are my top picks after toedscruel. Main moves to look for are knock off, light screen, sunny day, acid spray, pollen puff, and mud slap. Each of those pokemon have a couple of those useful moves. The best pokemon to support rn is Lurantis, with contrary leaf storm.

Do you build speed on supports to get first move w/o prankster?
@loupandsnoop

Usually not, unless you are building for a specific 7* raid, and only when you need just a little speed to pass a threshold. Outside of that scenario, not really. Supports need a lot of bulk investment.
@locke348
@locke348 Год назад
@@loupandsnoop I was also going to ask about this after reading that reply about hitting 237 speed to out-speed opposing taunts and status. The thought of having a speed nature on my Umbreons seems suspect... but it makes a lot of sense, gettng status before using taunt seems like it would make things difficult. Also If I have a lot of resources to make multiple variants of the same pokemon is this a smart Idea? Or is it better to just have one pokemon and adjust it before each raid? I dont think this works because you cant adjust pokemon in the summary screen when you are selecting a pokemon to use in a raid and it makes me feel like I would have to readjust a lot before each fight. The idea using your example in the other raid video you made: You had an Umbreon with full DEF investment - HH, Taunt, Light Screen, and Screech. This seems great with Physical pokemon on your team, facing a special attacking Raid boss. Would it then make sense to have a seperate Umbreon with SPdef investment - HH, Taunt, Reflect, Fake Tears? I just feel like I would be a waste if I brought Tears/Screech, HH, and Taunt on the same Umbreon and then shields go up and I sit there spamming HH. This also applies to Bronzong since Safeguard is such an important part of its kit, but its a gamble on the first turn since it doesnt have speed investment which is why I was asking my first question. Also since both abilities seem nice to have (Esecially Levitate for Garchomp) I would like to make multiple versions of that. In anycase thanks so much for this video, it was EXACTLY what I needed and I cant thank you enough for the advice.
@loupandsnoop
@loupandsnoop Год назад
@@locke348 Thanks. In order, I would first build generic raiding pokemon so you can just usually join raids to get resources. After that, I would build a variety of different raiding pokemon with no duplicates, so you can cover a greater variety of cases. Only then would I start making duplicates with different builds. Of course, if you need something really specific for a 7* raid, go ahead and make it. But generally speaking, it is better to avoid building duplicates until you have a broad pool of pokemon to pick from. Umbreon is special in that he is very flexible, so if you build a different support, you can change the umbreon’s set so that the two are complementary. But you don’t really need two umbreons imo. I hope this answers your question. As a general rule of thumb, if you need a lot of speed EVs to outspeed something as a support, you should not be investing into speed. The cost to your bulk becomes too severe. I only add speed when I know I just need a little to reach a threshold value.

@loupandsnoop Год назад
@@Bigdaddy93413 Muk is an extremely reliable support. I was really contemplating S tier, as Muk, Oranguru, and Umbreon are like the core of best supports. That said, I disagree that any of them become ineffective after shields. Without repeating myself too much, Oranguru’s biggest strength is instruct, and tera shields don’t stop that. He can still double up on allied support moves, boosting moves, or attacking moves. idk what you mean by him becoming ineffective. Umbreon also has a myriad of tools to be useful at all stages of the game (even after shields). His kit includes: fake tears, screech, helping hand, skill swap, taunt, snarl, light screen, reflect, charm, and thunderwave. Screens/snarl/HH all retain value after shields. A lot of that versatility doesn’t come out if you just run a generalist support set (HH/taunt/screech/tears). He can’t reapply spdef drops after shields, but no other support has as expansive of a support movepool as he, while also having all of the super important moves.
