I hadn't touched my Deluge since the OLED upgrade and had been enjoying playing live the Soma Enner and Terra with a Korg Volca Drum. The Volca was getting some really cool stuff but was limited in sequencing so I dragged out the Deluge, then the steep learning curve hit me again. I came across your music from a Reddit site when searching for microtuning for the Deluge and wow man. Everything so far has been excellent. It's so refreshingly different from the usual 4 on the floor stuff. I can't quite put a finger on your influences though but I can hear some 80-90s sounds in there...maybe it's the Moog. Great work man.
Wow. Thanks man! 🙏 the learning curve can definitely be steep. Especially with the constant firmware updates that keep bringing more and more awesome features since it went open source! But I’d encourage you to stick with it. The deluge is crazy powerful! I’ve got some tutorial-y stuff in my songs from Scratch playlist and RSKT has a great deluge video manual series I highly recommend! As for my influences.. ya… they’re all over the place. Haha. I just go where the song takes me. lol. A lot of times I try to center a session around tying something new on a synth or learning a new technique and see where it goes. Especially when I was learning the deluge. Like I’d build a song around learning how to use the sampler for example. Would love to hear what you’re working on! Cheers!
This is incredible as well! I kind of answered my own question by watching this. You clock-synced the Subharmonicon to the Deluge, correct? What a gorgeous Lo-Fi jam!
Thank you!🙏 Yea the Deluge is the brains of my setup as well as a great drum machine and synth engine. I use it to sequence most of my other gear too (including I believe the M32 on this song, it’s a much better sequencer than the M32) it’s also where I’m arranging the song. For this one I’m using midi with the mother and then sending a gate to the Subharmonicon and then clock from subH to DFAM.
@@oaklandghosts0510 Would you still recommend the Deluge? I have the KeyStep Pro I use a lot for CV and Midi. I've always wanted a dedicated drum machine though, I just never knew which to get or what flavor the Deluge is. For instance, is it more of an 808, 909, or Linndrum soundscape or entirely different?
@@alexandermontagnet3361it can sound like all of the above! It’s a sample based drums machine and comes pre-loaded with 808, 909, LINN, and many other kits (plus you can build your own how ever you like if you have a large sample library like I do) on top of that it is an excellent sequencer and arranger and the brains of my entire setup as well as an excellent synth! The advantage of sequencing multiple pieces of gear and arranging it into a song (and supplementing it with more synths and drums) is a huge one in my book. I have a one year review video I did a couple months ago that goes into more detail if you wanna dive in. Cheers!
Another big advantage of deluge is it is self contained and full portable. You can write a song on the train or an airplane or sitting by the lake.. and then come home and finish it off by adding your analog and hardware synths.
