When you live with a mentally ill person, you have your OWN experience with the illness. He is sharing HIS experience. Not "exposing" her. The people calling him out are sheltered and do not live in the real world about mental illness. He has grown up with neglect and abuse.

If she was a cat poop hoarder with a house stacked with dirty diapers and piss bottles no one would judge him and it's the same level of disorder just in the other direction.

I 100% agree. Just because you don’t have the illness yourself doesn’t mean you don’t suffer from it. I love someone with pretty severe mental disorders, and often I wonder if it hurts me more than her

Having a mental illness DOES NOT mean you get to treat people like shit. At all, ever. It means YOU need to take responsibility to get yourself help and work on yourself. He is allowed to feel trapped and hate being around her. Mental illness explains behavior BUT it never excuses it. He doesn’t deserve to be trashed 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you for this comment! I don't understand why this seems to be a "hold equal empathy for both people" situation for many. As a parent it is your PRIMARY job within a parent-child relationship to keep your children safe (emotionally, physically, etc) and she is actively and continuously causing severe harm to her children and family. I can emphasize that her life must also be a living hell, but my empathy runs dry when she is refusing to help herself in order to prevent herself from further harming her family.

Exactly right. I have BPD and for so long I didn't know what was wrong with me and then when I did, I only acknowledged it when I needed to manipulate someone or to get out of trouble. Once I sobered up (opiate addiction) it was like a lighbulb turned on: I realized I was just flat out abusing the people I loved. I completely changed everything about my behavior. And to this day, I'm still so ashamed of the person I was. You have to have a lot of self-awareness to own up to the pain you've caused if you're ever going to get healthy and have good relationships with the people around you. If you can't even apologize, then there's no chance.

Since I don't know what all she has for sure, I can't be certain, but there ARE MIs and mixtures of MI symptoms that can compulsively or obsessively push people away from getting help or block them entirely, even if they know they need it (and unfortunately, a signature of OCD is KNOWING the sh1t you do and think is whackadoo, but being partially or entirely unable to stop yourself anyways - the lack of control is part of the distressing part of the disorder). While my immediate reaction is to agree (I literally will walk away from people I know are REFUSING to get help who CAN get it and have access and just will not do it intentionally), I have to add that it MAY not actually be something she can help. It could be a case of her phobias and conditions being SO bad that she's filled with compulsions the minute she even attempts it. The command those compulsions and obsessive thoughts can have over your entire ability to human at all is terrifying... When your own mind betrays you, your body will follow. I have compassion for the mom being so VERY VERY VERY sick, and it sounds like she's had a loooooooong downslide spiral... but my sympathies and compassion are MOST for the kid. He needs to get out ASAFP and there just, sadly, may never be anything he can do except to minimize how much contact he has with his parents. That relationship with mom may just not be possible at all anymore, because she's not getting help, and while he might be able to make a relationship with his father work it can't happen while she's alive and they're still together. So, sadly, the best case scenario here is he moves in with GF or gets out entirely and just goes minimal contact and lets his mother... do what she gon' do. She'll either wind up alone and unalive (accidentally or on purpose) or she'll eventually wind up alone and get help because she's finally hit a point where its either "get help" or "continue in an intolerable condition for remainder of life". From the sounds of that last video clip, it seems she may have given up on fighting for herself and her mental health a long while ago, and with the way she's focused on how dirty the kids are, I suspect that parenting young children she can't control enough to 'feel clean' was possibly one of the nails in the coffin of her control... Something clearly happened when they were younger (the kids), but with her conditions, it could have been as simple as "little boys roll in muck, they get messy, they play physically, they bring in dirt, its inevitable" being that one final straw of lacking control in her life that spiraled her out. *_Whatever happened here, its deeply sad for all involved but MOST of all for the kids who were emotionally ab*sed and (from the comments here who've seen more) maybe even more than just emotionally. There's at least one comment asserting the sister has spoken and revealed she was once barred from hospital by her mother when she had a bad infection..._*

While I agree, I'd have to counter with "look at all the partners with kids struggling against DV who either take years to finally ask for help and get out, or who never get out at all". If the mother is like this with the kids, I can only imagine what hell the father has had to personally experience. She COULD be perfectly nice and calm with him, but she could ALSO have him so scared to either get hurt, get the kids hurt or see her hurt herself that he might be cowed into obedience. There is a lot we do not know, and while it could also be true he may have nothing stopping him at all and maybe just is a coward too much to stand up for his kids and do what's right... we shouldn't assume right away. A case this bad, that man could EASILY be one of the worst-controlled victims in this situation. He could easily have a situation far worse than the children's (as some adults experiencing DV while having kids may ensure the treatment that is worse happens to them instead, as an act of protecting their children). It could be that he deserves blame, or it could also be that he has illnesses himself that are going untreated and unspoken of in the wake of his wife's much more obvious struggles. He could literally be stockholmed. He could potentially just be terrified of being the reason she unalives or tries to kill him and unalive herself (a lot of DV survivors who speak out say they stayed so long out of fear that if caught they would be killed, or worse). It could be that the father has his own conditions that put him at her mercy as his caretaker, even if its unknown to the son and daughter because its not as apparent when compared to what mom's got. IF the above are not factors and he has just been choosing his SICK wife over getting the kids and wife all help in one way or another (by leaving, getting medical involved, pushing wife to get help "or else I'll take the kids and leave you here"), then he is absolutely as guilty as the mother, if not MORE so because he'd be mentally culpable more than her. In that case, she'd have an illness pushing her out of whack that she should be getting help for but may not be due to... literally being mentally incapable of making that choice, while HE would be mentally sound and just dealing with a troubled wife, therefore having no real reasons not to recognize that the kids needed to be removed from this situation ASAFP once she was clearly crossing the lines and disordering everyone's life in the house.

How is it stigmatizing OCD when he’s illustrating the reality of what living with it is like? He’s being treated like an untouchable by his own mother. And the father enables the behavior. Can you imagine the mental anguish that would cause someone growing up? As someone who has suffered from debilitating mental illness, I mean this with every fiber of my being: you are not at fault for having a mental illness, but you ARE responsible for getting help and treatment, ESPECIALLY if you have dependents. How this woman has treated her son is nothing short of abuse.

Calling him dirty is also such a fucking disgusting thing to me. ugh. my dad also does the same thing, i once spent 2 hours cleaning my room he was gonna stay in, he got in, called in a maid bc to him it wasn't clean bc it was I who did it. @NotAnotherKuromi
@NotAnotherKuromi 5 месяцев назад
I think you might misunderstand because the mothers standards probably have her freaking out over 1 piece of fluff, so everything over that is "dirty" it isn't a directed insult at the son but how she views absolutely everything in the world (apart from the father who probably matches her standards of follows protocol so she doesn't view him as dirty.) Also I think you are taking dirty too literally, isn't really an accurate descriptor, it's not like mudd or something. Contamination OCD means that people view things as tainted and unsafe, not legitimately unclean. This is often based on fear and thoughts too rather than any actual science or real dirt. For example just items touching someone can think the "dirt" has moved from one item to the next so view both as "dirty" not based on lool or even a microscope but a thought and feelings. It's an illogical feeling that is difficult to describe but also it isn't rooted in reality.

@@NotAnotherKuromiwhile it’s not meant to be an insult from his mother, it is still harmful to him to be called dirty and to be treated that way. It’s on the mom to get help for her mental illness, she’s unfairly subjecting/expecting him to follow her compulsions, and it’s emotionally damaging him. She needs to do better, that is her job as a parent. Her OCD being triggered doesn’t mean it’s okay for her to treat everyone this way

Yeah I think a lot of people are just not understanding this condition. On what it actually does to the brain. This woman probably genuinely think she may die. It doesn’t help either, that contamination is a legitimate problem for humans. So she probably takes legitimate medical facts, and twist them. Due to the fact that that’s what her condition does. It just really sucked to hear him say that he thought she was weird, since that is not someone talking about things in an empathetic place. That is someone who is angry, and thinks the person is weird. Definitely not a word I would use if I felt empathetic& was just explaining the effect the condition has on me. He is resentful. Which is blinding his understanding of what is actually happening.😥 2:05@@NotAnotherKuromi

I agree. I think that's the bigger issue here. Sure, she can have her little rituals, but banning him from most of the house because he's "dirty" is such strong rejection rejection and abandonment. She's is guaranteeing he'll never return and severe the relationship, but she seems like she's wanting that anyway. It's just sad.
@SillyConure

Yeah, I have contamination OCD and there's only a small number of people who are "dirty" to me. Those people are actually my abusers who abused me all throughout my childhood and made me feel dirty and disgusting, hence I now associate them with that unbearable dirty feeling. I'm bringing this up because I'd never feel like someone's dirty for no reason, there has to be something with that person/ the person has to constantly make me feel dirty in a way and that's just not happening unless that person is abusive. Seems to me like this woman just hates her child, and her OCD just latches onto these negative feelings towards him. Like I don't even think the core issue here is the mother's OCD (I mean it's still an issue but you know what I mean...I think?) but those negative feelings she harbors towards her son which in return exacerbates her OCD towards him specifically. Poor dude, I feel so bad for him.

She's to the point where she is a danger to OTHERS (and herself, but the cops aren't trained enough to see that because she isn't actively physically hurting herself), refuses any kind of therapy, and everyone needs to be removed from her. People were talking about how the husband enabled her, but imagine what she did to him when he DIDN'T. If she's going to scream and hit her own kids because they're tired of being abused, the husband has also given up on her and knows keeping silent is best for him so he doesn't get hurt, which is so sad. Since the cops won't 51-50 her, this boy needs to call Adult Protective Services because from what he's shown us, she qualifies. And I'm pretty sure the cops were trying to say that, but didn't really have the knowledge of it to explicitly say that.

I know she also is living in hell because the lengths of enabling and reinforcing the OCD behaviors and thoughts that’s obvious here makes me - someone also living with OCD - want to vomit. This cycle is a runaway train and I feel so bad for the entire family. It’s a disorder you can’t reason with. She needs intensive ERP type treatment, not a household or friends/family enabling or trying to combat it. Giving into the compulsions hurts just as much as trying to fight/avoid the feelings of anxiety caused by the intrusive thoughts that plague an OCD-sufferers mind. It’s painful to witness in cases like this or extreme hoarding for example because OCD attacks the things a person values the most. In this case, I’d imagine she values her and her family’s health and safety very highly, yet she’s gone down a spiral of OCD targeting what she holds so dear that it causes her to act in ways that are harming both her and her family’s health (primarily mentally, clearly). It’s a horrific cycle of self-sabotage and backfire that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I hope they can all get the appropriate help they need to get through this.

They often have no idea how much wreckage they leave behind to those who have to pick up the pieces and be responsible, and productive and also protective of that loved one who is creating so much destruction. I love that today people are much more sympathetic towards people with mental illness, but ppl need to take a step back and understand that when it comes to cases like this, the WHOLE FAMILY falls victim to the disorder. Imagine growing up knowing your own mother finds you absolutely DISGUSTING to the point of being segregated in your own home and banned from over 50% of the entire house. The one place you’re SUPPOSED to feel loved and accepted. Imagine literally being ranked against your other family members by how “dirty” you all are… and coming out on top lol. Just thinking about the psychological toll that would take on a kid is depressing af and we cannot police the way this young man handles the maltreat he’s probably had to endure for YEARS. You cannot put expectations on how someone is supposed to react after growing up in such a toxic environment. We can say “it’s not her fault” all we want and for the MOST part, that is true. But you gotta draw the line somewhere and for me that’s child maltreatment, especially if the parent REFUSES to seek help. She doesn’t see anything wrong with imposing all this on her children and that’s an issue separate from the OCD. That’s an “I’m the parent and you’re the child, idgaf how you feel OBEY ME” problem.

man, i saw his videos a while back too and it just made me so sad. i related to a certain extent. i feel bad for the family overall. i think i relate in the extent of growing up and watching your mother gradually get worse, unable to get help, largely due to cultural expectations/ fear of people talking. the paranoia, deciding if you should confront the parent as it gets worse or tolerate it. are we enabling or should we subject ourself to more emotional abuse? i cried watching the most recent clip. it's really hard man. i really feel like it's just one of those things where you either know (unfortunately), or you don't. anyway, i appreciate you having a nuanced take. we can acknowledge what went wrong while also having compassion for the mental wellbeing of both of them. i don't blame the son for being frustrated. it's clear he still cares for his mom, but she is emotionally abusing him. she needs help. people are looking for a "perfect victim" on a side to pick, not seeing how scary this is for both of them, and traumatizing overall. i hope she can get help and they can both heal. if he chooses to cut her off, i will not blame him. but i also won't blame him for staying and trying to work it out. idk, it's clear she needs help and he needs to heal from this. god help them and everyone who is in a similar circumstance.

also to clarify i am NOT excusing the abuse he is going through. i just want to make it clear that this is clearly not a black of white situation, and he says this has significantly gotten worse over time.

These tiktoks are 1000% a cry for help from the guy. Living with someone with mental health issues is really difficult, upsetting and confusing. I speak from experience.

although the mother’s views about the “dirtiness” of the house and her kid, i dont think its right to call your son dirty, and people on social media really need to look things up before assuming someone (who lives with said person, and is there with them everyday) is blasting another person, we all know its not blasting but its crazy to me how you can watch these videos and believe that it actually is. anyways, i loved this video. keep it up❤

I’m struggling to even watch this kid tell his experience. He is in pain. He is feeling the rage. I want to welcome him strait in to my house WEARING HIS SHOES INSIDE. He can eat at my table without washing his hands. He can sleep anywhere and I will hug him with his dirty clothes from school. I would tell him he’s awesome and let him smile❤❤ I’m a mom and I see it from a mom pov. My baby with a blowout, sneezing in my face is still perfect and kissable to me. I am diagnosed ocd and with a shit ton of therapy I no longer hurt my kids with my issues. Once I was therapies to the max, I had 3 more kids and all 7 of us are living life free❤❤❤❤

Thank you for actually sharing the creator in the description! SO many people talk about tik tokers but never share their info and it makes it so much harder to find out more about them!

Im all for destigmatizing mental health but we also cant ignore its dark side... thats the entire reason there is treatment for it in the first place... and in my opinion abuse isnt not abuse because you slapped a diagnosis on it. If your mental illness causes you to treat people a certain way you still have a responsibility to work on it so you dont hurt others.

The mother is severely abusive. Those criticizing how he is handling the abuse also have to remember that this is the parental example of conflict resolution he has received since birth. Having only received those tools his whole life, I think he is handling it with great calmness and logical reasoning.

He has way too much patience for the hell he is living in. I hope he moves out soon. This is such an abusive situation.

It sounds like she has bad contamination paranoia. No reason to treat someone badly but I have some level of that kind of paranoia too. I have restrictions I put on myself now because of it. The only time I took it out on anyone else was yelling at my sister for cutting meat straight on the counter and reminding people to wash dishes better ( I open the cabinets to really dirty dishes every day since our dishwasher machine sucks.) I have to wonder if she got extremely sick and some point and is over compensating. Calling your own son “dirty” is so degrading though.

I have crippling OCD and anxiety. My rules for my house are strict and my phone must be clean. I literally wash my PHONE. Like this house is perfect for me. BUT I don’t think this guy is wrong. He’s been a kid under her care since birth. I would never subject another person to my environment against their will. It isn’t fair to him to have not had a normal life or to be able to live in a home that he’s comfortable in. It’s devastating to be unable to leave and just because she has mental health issues, that’s not a reason to give her a pass. We wouldn’t give hoarders a pass even though it’s the same issue just with different manifestations. My heart breaks for this guy. I just….i hope he gets peace and help because he’s got to have some cptsd or something after being subjected to all that for YEARS

All around this is sad. I feel bad for him and his mom and the whole family. It's such a complex disorder to have. I hope everyone starts getting the therapy and treatment that works for everyone ❤
