Tim Akkerman & Floor Jansen - Shallow | Beste Zangers 2019 REACTION! 

First time I saw this back when it aired, my initial thoughts as Floor stood up for the big ending was, "Oh-oh! Oh-oh!! Oh no, she's gonna go full Nightwish on this poor boy and eat him alive!!!" But our Valkyrie Goddess is merciful toward we mortal humans, and she spared his life. No actual Tims were harmed in the making of this video. :)

He sang nightwish "Nemo" to Floor in a punk rock sauce....due to the time limit of the show

Tim saw her doing it solo earlier in the show and said it just needed that male voice. And he always wanted to sing together with her at least once. It was a bucketlist thing for him.

Tim was probably the only one that knew of Floor before this show as he knew her from festival/rock circuit

Someone probably said this already but... this show Beste Zangers has so many seasons and specials. It is a journey that I can tell you! Love that your doing this! Music binds us all , like Henk Poort said: "When the music is great it is great , no matter the genre!"

Tim was the previous singer of the band Direct. The Beste Zangers is going on for 12 seasons and was growing during that time. You should also try the song Soldier-on by Direct. This is with the new lead singer Marcel Veenendaal it is a beautiful song.

Lovely duet, with Tim's voice complimenting Floor's perfectly, although when Floor let rip, Tim's vocals were somewhat overpowered. But then, when Floor uses her full power, few voices can compete. If you liked Tim's vocals in this one, his performance of Bring Him Home, (for Henk Poort), also from Beste Zangers, was stunning. Beautiful, moving and heartfelt (have the tissues ready). Willemijn Verkaik is another Dutch singer (Musical star) who can give you those goosebumps. When she sings Defying Gravity. She preformed it on 4 stages (Broadway, Westend, Germany and the Netherlands) in 3 languages. There's even a 3 language version (Dutch, English, German).

I personally prefer season 4 of the Belgian version of the show (Liefde Voor Muziek), as it is even more laid back and there's so much love between the singers on that show. Floor gained a lot of fans doing this show. She blew them away day one. She was the first singer of the whole show. Henk was the first on couch and she did Opera right off of rip. Everyone was good in their country they were all known I believe besides floor. She did this show to help get more exposure for her band from their home even tho they were known World Wide 😂.

"Beste Zangers" in Netherlands is not the only one but there are similar shows made with the same format also in: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Lithuania, Estonia, Switzerland, Spain and France having similar spirit of artists respecting and appreciating each others, though Dutch were the first and original by inventing the format and licensing it to those other countries. It's also a quite old show, Dutch version being made already 13 seasons and for example Finnish version has been made 11 seasons 12th already announced starting in fall, so trying to see all the episodes also from the other countries would be an enormous task.

It doesn't happen often (Grease Lightning, Pradise by the Dashboard Light), but when a woman overpowers a ma with vocals, the song is INSTANTLY better than any other version of the song, and many other songs that were released in the same period. And while I love Floor, I also hate her, because everytime I hear an original of a song I've heard her cover, I feel angry for not hearing her (better) version.

Tim Akkerman used to be the lead singer of Di-rect, but he went his own way and he's not as famous anymore in the mainstream, but he's still very good at what he does, he has a special voice, he always makes me think of Joe Cocker a bit with his gravely quality.

Did you know Floor made a Dutch and English song for Warchild? Both are beautiful, you should check it out, ypu will not keep it dry!!. It inspired us to start donating to warchild when our 4th grandchild was born. We also did the same with other child related benefitfunds when the other 3 grandchildren were born. It is our way to try and make a difference... Btw, in dutch you can hear Floors southern accent, very beautiful...😁

Think you will enjoy Floor singing this solo - to Emma - even more. And as for Tim - he has at least 2 more epic performances on the show - "Dear Mr President" and "Breng Hem Thuis(Bring Him Home)". The second one is from the musical Les Miserables, and Tim nails it spot on. First one is to Samantha, second one to Henk, and both are forced hard by the emotion. So that's at least three more for Beste Zangers - and you STILL will have hardly scratched the surface!!

A couple of Tim's performances for other guests worth checking out: Breng Hem Thuis (may have spelt that wrong - Dutch for Bring Him Home from the Les Miserables musical) Dear Mr President - a song by Pink. Both brilliant. He had his own band for some time, and now is a solo act. You can see him cover a few Springsteen songs on RU-vid. From Beste Dangers 2018, try Triente Ousterhuis singing The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, or anything from the 2020 series by Miss Montreal. Really enjoying your reactions.

Another gorgeous female singer you might like is Lara Fabian - fabulous voice and stellar performer. Try anything from her 1999 From Lara With Live TV concert - He Suits Malade, Adagio (which Floor recently covered!), You're Not From Here, or Broken Vow. All can reduce you to tears.

Maybe you can check out Glennis Grace singing Afscheid from a couple seasons ago of Beste Zangers. It's a Dutch song but I think she was the first artist from Beste Zangers who had a hit with a cover. Performed in Beste Zangers. She was also on Americas Got Talent I believe a couple of years ago and ended up in the semi finals I believe? It is a Dutch song though, so I don't know if that's a problem for you. But she has a hell of a voice.

There is a reason the word "Floorgasm" got invented. 😁 We definitely needed a word for that phenomenon. For me it also happens with Marko. And his voice even makes me more emotional then Floor's (bummer, I know.. she is already so good at that). So for me it's paradise when they sing together. Or sang.. 😢 Still can't believe I bought my first tickets for a huge live show (risking to get a panic attack with all those people around me) for that reason and he won't be there. 😭

Not every season is/was that good as every season they have a different group, but this was one of the best seasons in my view.
