I love doing sport and watching sport but the Romans had a phrase bread and games. Keep people busy with superficial things like sport and make it super important with all those journalists which most never played in in their live. Its all distraction just to keep us simple
The key is that the vast majority of sports “journalists” do not understand the sport they cover. They don’t have to. They simply ask the standard three or four questions, almost never having anything to do with the game, and wait for an athlete to screw up. They invent “storylines” that of course THEY tell you about. They try to make the sport all about them. Formulaic. Dumb. And the women are almost always babes. So they have that going for them, which is nice…😅
to play devil's advocate...they are genius because they get to do an easy stupid job and get free housing in season and get to watch sports....btw love that name Tim...I know the whole Timmy thing..but there are some big black dudes named Tim or Timmy...it's a great name!!
It definitely takes a level of intelligence to cover sports at a high level, much like it does to coach them at a high level. Someone like Zach Lowe could/would easily be a professor or something if he didn’t have his gig at ESPN. On average, obviously it’s not the most impressive career to exist.
