Oh my! I laughed so hard just reading this, but having Tim actually say it is just comedy gold!

Hey Tim, You need to make this burnt brisket musings a monthly thing. Looks like a little wisdom came with that gray hair!

And I don't need constant musical background. My theory is it desensitizes us to the real thing. Music is for listening and dancing and singing, not talking over, shopping to, and eating to. My personal burned brisket is concert venues who think I need/want to listen to piped in music before a live music show. No! I came to hear the real deal. I don't want to dull my senses with Doritos before a full blown, authentic Mexican feast! Even worse, they turn it back on before you are out of your seat afterwards! I want to go out with the music I just heard rolling around in my head. The recorded stuff makes it that much harder to hang onto the experience I came for. Argh! Tim, tell your venues (when such things come back) to not surround your live performances with musical wallpaper!

AMEN! Tell it Tim. If it’s not Djs it’s TVs. I just want to eat in peace.

I remember when cafes had the little juke box song menus & box controls at each table! We loved those things! And parents loved them because they kept the kids busy looking to see what new songs might've been added since last time. 🤗

Too funny! Love it. The only really great music to be found while eating around here is at Texas Roadhouse, which plays great country music that we all really want to jump up and two-step to! It’s gotten pretty difficult to actually find a jukebox anymore, at least around here.

The only way we have anything other than piped in or jukebox music in my county is for the local school to have a concert. I do support those because they are kids and mostly they try. Besides they learn a lot of good life lessons along with the music. Besides everyone knows everyone so a DJ would be told to go home and leave folks alone.

This phenomenon you speak of has been nowhere I have been in the Minneapolis area and certainly not my beloved Fat Nat's Eggs. However we have been following Covid guidelines so I haven't been out as much. It might be worth pandemic level precautions to prevent DJ's from taking over my favorite greasy spoon joints.
