This harkens back to when talk shows had truly interesting and inspiring guests, a la Dick Cavett. A lost art. Time Grover was a childhood hero to all of us Bulls fans. The only celebrity trainer of that era. Really, who knows the trainers? Tim stood out, and his obsession with perfection paid off. I am glad Grover has received his due credit over the years. Bravi to the Fallon show for having him on.

Can somebody explain why Tim Grover was not mentioned in the book Kobe wrote? Kobe mentions a lot of people he worked with over the years.. as a "shout out".. but he never mentioned Grover. I don't get this reading both Grovers books and listening to many of his interviews. Not a diss to Grover. His stuff is awesome.

This guy trained the two best ever! Their mentality is unmatched. Kobe outworked everyone and MJ was gifted with incredible athleticism combined with a killer mindset. Although I would love to hear him talk more specifically about how MJ and Kobe trained instead of this. There were good opportunities to talk more about those two and give us something that we don't know since you were on the inside training them.

Tim grover is great but his reputation is great because of MJ and Kobe. He makes money by pretending to be the "winning guru." There are so many great trainers who are in the shadows, and he is no different from the others. MJ and Kobe, they are very special and Grover is riding on their reputations

I don't believe that at all. No one can say Kobe or MJ weren't great before he trained them. That would be silly. However, they didn't become champions till they started training to overcome what was holding them back. Before anyone balks at that because Kobe had 3 chips let me add context so you understand where I'm coming from. Kobe was not the first option in any of those first few championships. Shaq was the defacto first option in every case and he has the MVP's to prove it. Shaq left and went on to win another ring elsewhere leaving Kobe to become the alpha Laker. Kobe struggled the next few years with that responsibility. He was putting up great stats but the team success was lacking. He took the brunt of the criticism and everyone pretty much wrote him off with the belief that he couldn't win without Shaq. So, in a psychological way he was training to step out of Shaq's shadow and become a champion in his own right. He conditioned himself mentally and physically to take the punishment that Shaq was no longer there to take. For MJ, he had the psychological aspect covered because he was the first option since day one and showed it as a rookie when he had one of the best rookie seasons in NBA history. For him, it was overcoming the beating he physically took from Detroit every time he faced them in the playoffs. He put on the muscle to be strong enough to endure that physical punishment and as he became stronger, the Bulls got closer to winning every successive season that culminated in their sweep of the Pistons in their way to facing the Lakers for their first of six championships. That's just my opinion of course. At least in Kobe's case. It's fact in MJ's case cause he's admitted that in numerous interviews.

@broadcast3ful
@broadcast3ful 7 месяцев назад
@@coachcarlosjohnson "What is your insult based on?" It wasnt an insult, it was a statement and you dont understand training enough to grasp it. Short answer is bullshitting, trainers need to make you feel like they are absolutely NEEDED, that's why he makes up bullshit stories about counting how many steps Jordan took and trained him in a specific way, he's either an idiot and clueless or lying. That's gaslighting that those people do to show you they know more than you and that's why they get the results they do. Even if he knew that it shouldnt affect how Jordan trains for a bunch of reasons I wouldnt get into. Either way a lot of actors do this bullshit too, "I workout 4 times a day to look like this" No, they dont, you can see Mr Olympia competitors dont do that, let alone actors. Doing that wouldnt give you any additional benefit but it sounds cool to the public and differentiates the person saying it from the rest, and it's never true.
