The best teacher of crafting. You give so many examples and applications. I enjoy every chance to watch your demos, even when they may not be my style. I always learn. Thank you.
Wow, reading through the comments,I didn't realise this was Tim Holtz himself. Wish we had a expo like this in Brisbane Australia, maybe Tim would like to go on a trip here.
Wonderful video as usual. I've been crafting with Anna Griffin products since I started papercrafting. While that is what most people want, I prefer the more different look for me. I watch all your videos and have since bought alcohol inks with accessories. I also have the distress glaze which I LOVE! Thanks for giving me an alternative way to craft.
thank you for sharing this I inherited a bunch of foil and didn't know how to use them they have been sitting in my drawer for years now I can use them so cool thanks
I discovered sticky embossing powder last year after getting in a massive mess with gilding flakes and glue - this is sooo much easier, amazing stuff. Only thing I found is that it takes a while to set underneath, if you diecut it after adding your flakes, etc, its like a steam roller and squashed it flat. Its great with chunky glitter too.
Thanks for another great video, Christine & Mark. LOVE that Tim uses water & a cloth to clean stamps! And great advice not to flick off the Sticky Embossing Powder (I'm guilty of being a flicker.) ;)
The public don't realise how grueling Craft Shows can be, especially the last day. You put in a full day, non stop and on your feet and legs all day talking non stop. Then you have to pack up all your stock and pull down your stand, bundle up your stand display material used for hanging and displaying your stock and demonstration area. You can't take your time as the trucks then need to be packed up and hit the road in enough time to make it to the next venue. Then you start all over again. So make sure you support all your favourite craft suppliers. They work so incredibly hard to bring you new products and exciting new techniques.
I never knew what embossing powder an that white ink pad was for.. I have purchased so many of the inks an stencils ,I do use lots of Tims foils ,love them all! but the embossing powder with the white stamp pad is amazing! I buy Tims mini glass bottles an put my boro dichro scraps in them. You get Rainbows all day..
Catherine Arnott When your feed keeps stopping and starting, it may be the signal strength you are receiving from your internet provider. The speed they provide really matters. You may also live in an area with a weak signal. Check with your internet provider and see what they say.
Loving the demo, reading the other comments, I'm wondering if some are trying to use the kind of foil that needs to be heated as in any of the foiling machines, laminator etc. There are two different types, one that needs heat, one that needs glue, so I'm wondering if peeps are trying to use the foils that need heat.; Just what popped in my head after reading your comments.
Does the Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder "go bad"? Does it require a specific brand of foil to work? I bought a jar a few years ago and it has NEVER worked for me. Watching Tim in this video made me want to try again. After all I might be doing something wrong. Well, it didn't work. Help!! TIM HOLTZ, if you see this, I live in AZ too. Take mercy on this old gal who followed your instructions to the T and enlighten me.
Just watching this now and have same problem. Tried 2 different types of foils and over and over to a T also. Doesn't work well enough to be impressed with it at all. Did u ever find out anything?
I just bought this EP from Amazon based on this tutorial. I was so darn excited and it did not work at all! So sad. Could it be old powder? It gets hot and melts... quickly put the foil down and barely any sticks. I have tried and tried. I am so sad. if anyone has tips. I would appreciate it.
You may have too little sticky powder on the area, the sticky powder may be drying faster than you are working, and, i have also found not every foil works well with this technique.
I've used the Ranger sticky embossing powder with foil and it does NOT want to stick. I've tried more powder, more ink, more heat nothing works...what's going on?
All of the information is on the Craft and Hobby Association web site. It is a trade show only. If you qualify, you can go. The next show is in January in Phoenix.
I do embossing with the powders and am just starting with the foils, with the powders you use and additional tool such as an embossing buddy ( Stampin up). How is this different where I don't need to do that? Please explain. Thank you in Advance.
+Lori Thompson The Embossing Buddy is an extra step to try to stop those powders from sticking randomly to your project. You don't need to use it, but some of your powders may stick due to static. Many people don't use an Embossing Buddy. If you are using foils be sure that you are using the Sticky Embossing Powders. The foil won't stick to regular embossing powders. I hope I answered your question.
If you are using Sticky embossing powder, the foil should stick to the stickiness. If you are covering a toner based image, then run it through the laminator.
At 13:00 a sheet of foil? was placed on the sticky powder then pulled away and a different foil sheet applied to the portions that the first foil didn't stick to. When you see the finished butterfly at 14:03 at appears that the first foil was flat and the second was metallic. What kind/brand was the first sheet that was applied?
Hi there I have these foils and sticky embossing and have not used them yet, I would love to know what the stamp/stencil is that you compare it to at 9.26 in the video! I would love to use that with the foils?
This was filmed at the Craft and Hobby Trade show. If you are looking for info in where Tim is demoing check out his website - timholtz.com/calendar-of-events/
i watched this video early this morning been looking for the sticky embossing powder and simon is the only place i can find it and they are out , is there another place i can order it and the foils too couldnt find the foils at all , this is beautiful. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME
+deborah james Scrapbook.com has the powder: www.scrapbook.com/store/pp-epj35275.html and lots of foil: www.scrapbook.com/store/products/?w=ranger+foil and it's currently on sale!
Could I use these techniques on canvas? I create mixed media pieces on canvas and would like to incorporate Distress Inks and all kinds of cool stuff the scrapbook enthusiasts already know about.
Of course you can! If using Distress Inks they would have to be the first layer. You can't use them over acrylic paints. But the sticky embossing powder could be used over paint. You could always use Distress Paints through!
