Dorival is a guy who works miracles in the short term, in 2022, he arrived at Flamengo in June (the Brazilian season starts in January and ends in February), won the Libertadores (equivalent to the Champions League) and won the Copa do Brasil (Brazil Cup ). But his contract ended in January and Flamengo didn't want to renew with him, so he was sent out of the team, around June 2023 he went to São Paulo and won the Copa do Brasil over Flamengo, so almost completing the club's trophy room, which can now say it is 'champion of everything'

It's refreshing to see how England's sports news shows a lot of respect for our Seleção (brasileiro here) even when the team is in such bad shape as it is now, given that it's become normal for brazilians to talk trash about our national team ever since the shameful 7-1 in 2014. It seems international sports fans in general have more respect for the seleção brasileira than ourselves. Props to you for that! But even on that note, I think not even the most optimistic brazilian will say we are favorites on this match. interesting comment because what I noticed about Brasil under Diniz was there was no organisation or discipline in the team, especially in attack. The forwards seemed to have no plan and no team spirit - they played as individuals trying to be the star. Like you, I don't expect he will have had enough time yet to make great changes, but it will be interesting to see.

yeah, I think what hurt the most was the forwards playing as individuals. they got into a lot of good positions but didn't want to combine enough with team mates. That discipline will be the most required change I think. Also, it can't be overstated how much Brasil needs Casemiro.

His job here in Brazil is incredible! It's so nice, once in a while, to encounter a foreigner open enough to live and love Brazil in all is pros and cons.

It is a new era for many national teams heading into 2024, and Brazil is in a new era after two interim coaches Ramon Menezes and Fernando Diniz. How Brazil does with new head coach Dorival Junior I don't know as it will depend how well he calls up the team to help recover Brazil lost prestige and reputation over the years. England and Spain have been doing a lot better in terms of consistency, but if Brazil gets its cards rights it could have a chance to be competitive in both games. Overall global competition has increased over the years among all national teams in the world especially heading to the world cup. I look forward to see what happens in 2026 with the Super Fifa World Cup in North America with 48 teams as well the Super Fifa Club World Cup in 2025 also in the USA and 2024 Copa America USA and Eurocups 2024 this year as well. The Summer Olympics would been more interesting if we had a real Olympics without the under 23 restrictions for the men, as only 3 veteran players are allowed to play. Still heavily disappointed in Fifa's decision to cancel the Fifa Confederations Cup instead of expanding and the men's under 23 Olympic rules. Why doesn't Fifa just make a Under 23 World Cup then instead of restricting the Olympics.
