Keep coming back to this one mate, that is shit hot, you must be so proud. Still drawing up the plans for my boys build looking forward to the excitement. Sent him my drawings and he said it looks complicated. No i say it's gonna be great. What part off the woods you in uk. I'm southwest. You got any vids on fitting door frames to that build, I will be fitting sliding openers to onesude that faces the property long side with an extended overhung along the length of the pathway to a side gate. Wish I could show you. The excitement on your face on every oak peg going in.. lol Much love bro

Great job! Now I really want to build a timber frame mini cabin in my yard instead a tree house when my daughter is big enough. How do the bents attached to sill plates? I saw you persuade them in with the hammer of god there, but I’m just missing what is holding them. Is it some metal hardware, a notch on the sill plate, etc? Maybe I’m just more blind that I thought. Thanks for the gear content!
@MemphisCorollaS
@MemphisCorollaS Год назад
I rewatched and saw the short, offset mortise & tenon joints near the beginning of the video, but is there anything else popping the joints at the base together like oak pins, metal hardware to meet building code, etc? Thanks
@avromweisz
@avromweisz Год назад
Definitely start building one. You can alway incorporate some timber framing in to a tree house. Yes I attached them with a mortice an tenon and I used oak dowels too.

That's a blinding job done their buddy wicked frame build for 1st framework.. I'm planning on doing one now for my son garage workshop looking forward to the task. Can you send me a link for the pricker podger can't find anywhere cheers 👍 What size timbers did you use, i was going for 175 but now considering 150 its size will be 7m x 4m with a 300 x 125 centre beam for the pitch roof. Suggestions appreciated
@avromweisz
@avromweisz Год назад
www.windysmithy.co.uk/hand-tools I think this is where I bought mine from. Can't find it anywhere else. Regarding the timbers I used 175, you could probably use 150 but I guess it all really depends on your design and how many posts and braces you have.
@monk1100
@monk1100 Год назад
@@avromweisz yes thanks I did actually get them from windy after a long search. Am going for 9 posts, and 11 braces, one French double sliding door at length side facing property, one double front opening door and one large window at rear width facing garden and a 300 x 100 centered pitch beam. One side off the pitch over hanging 1.2 m with 100mm posts as a side entrance cover. All my own design. Not ordered timbers yet but probably will end up to those measures. Cheers for all mate.

New sub here! You did amazing! I'm super impressed that you only had your personal home project under your belt as far as timber frames. I watched the series twice and am working on the second round of the one at your home. I was wondering why the odd angles in the first video but now I get it. It was a little complicated from my view. What an inspiration. Do you have instagram? I would like to follow. What is the name of the device you used to lift the beams with?

Great video and that crane is an amazing assistant. I’m wondering why the bents are so short ? The knee braces appear to be about the right height to bang your head on if not very careful.
