Its a neat concept, and I'm liking it. If I may with 2 suggestions - 1) future attempts have some sort of bumper/transfer animation from wcw to wwf. (and all I can think of as an example, is the simplistic autobot/deception bumper from the original cartoon series.); And (2) the date explanation card is shown before you cut to the other series. So you show the date card for wcw, then cut to wwf for a while, then go back to wcw, and I've forgotten the context at what Dillon is talking about (and vice versa), so I'm going back to read what the card was, then scan forwarding back to where I was.
I agree so much with your second point. The date card for WWE or WCW is shown and then you see the individual from the opposite company speaking. I love the timeline series and this just makes it worse.
Jim Duggan is a real guy . I suspect he had a hard time being a heel towards fans in his off time in Watt’s MidSouth ( Heavy Kayfabe territory ) . But once he was a face the public loved him here in Louisiana . My buddy has a photo of Jim seated with my buddy’s grandmother sitting on his lap !! Lol people trade stories about encounters with Jim and how warm and playful he is , so its no act .
11:14 WCW Timeline Title: If I leave here tomorrow - Michael Hayes being fired 😂😂 (If I leave here tomorrow being the opening lines to the song Free Bird the Lynyrd Skynyrd song which the Fabulous Freebirds got their name from and used as their theme song)
There was "things goin on that you don't know". Skynyrd is wrote off as a redneck band, and they are now. When Ronnie was alive....best band in the world. In my humble, useless opinion.
Agreed, it was Ventura who constantly buried Duggan but only because he was being a great heel commentator. I'm not sure where Duggan is getting the idea that Gorilla blasted him on commentary.
JJ has the single greatest promo I've ever seen. He was managing the Horsemen in 88 and did a promo on the Saturday Night NWA show. I timed it. It was around 4 minutes and 45 seconds. He stared straight into the camera and didn't miss a beat for that entire time.
I know Duggan’s doing it tongue & cheek but I’ve heard him now do this 3/4 times. The line about “I beat Stunning Steve so bad he had to shave his head & change his name.” He probably shouldn’t remind people of that, maybe the worst decisions WCW ever made
They’ve never liked each other…it all stems from that issue. It’s probably the only feather in Duggan’s cap…the day he beat Steve Austin for the US Championship
If you mean firing Austin then there's no way they could have foreseen that he would have gone on to be the biggest draw in wrestling history not named Hulk Hogan because that doesn't work for me brother
J.J is right about JPC out drawling the WWF in Philadelphia pa … was always at the Philadelphia civic center when they come to Philadelphia there was nothing like mid Atlantic championship wrestling❤❤❤❤❤
The schedule they keep is such that a lot if their career fails to imprint strong memories … case and point …Hacksaw bluntly says he has no memory of the dry run Royal Rumble match in St Louis …it was the rehearsal for one the biggest moments in his career and its nowhere in his recollections
The editing here is so sloppy… WWF bumpers leading in to JJ discussing an event referenced on a bumper we haven’t seen yet… maybe just run the interviews back to back🤷♂️
Steve Williams , in my opinion , was a man out if time in Wrestling . Had he started wrestling a decade before he would have been a top draw . His punch list was full for a 70’s great . Size ,power , look , credentials and toughness . He would have been a NWA darling … a definite candidate for Champion . But by the eighties style was king … Doc was not stylish
Terry Taylor is a rooster....just in human form. If you've ever seen him as a heel in UWF/Midsouth, the rooster metaphor is on full display. Watch him strut to the ring in the NWA/UWF TV title unification match. His swagger would make Kanye West jealous.
I would argue and say Sting's love for the business has grown over time. Im not arguing that he had the same love as someone like Jim Cornette but i do think he truly cares about the fans and the guys in the lockerroom. I mean using someone like Cornette as an example, by the time TNA came around he openly said making the drive to the studio several times a week was not something he was willing to do, yet no one arroyos ever question his love or passion for the business. I think also avoiding WWE for so long says something about who he is and how he feels about the business. You would assume anyone who was more concerned with becoming a Hollywood star than a Pro Wrestler would go to the organization with the most exposure and brand recognition that has been associated 100% of the individuals who have made the transition where as the organizations where Sting worked the first 40 years of his career, never created 1. Dude loved what he did just maybe in a sight different way than people expected him to.
I disagree 100% - Sting is now an internet darling because he is at AEW but people ignore the fact he isn't there because he is a fan .. he is there for the HUGE paycheck - which in itself is no issue at all - miles and the money.
Look at how he turned out as a wrestler compared to his former tag team partner, the Dingo Warrior. He actually cared about the business and worked at it.
Ya I don't think he realizes that it's supposed to be based around 1988. He's pulling stories all over the place. Still good though but must be driving Sean nuts.
At 47:35, Hacksaw showing a little too much enthusiasm for Glacier's giant hole😉 at least he glossed kver the size of his package. Maybe new game is 'How big is Glacier's hole?'
I think steroids in wrestling should be monitored but not a firing offense . Think about it … they work 8/9 spots a week for 10 months out of the year . There is no real offseason , very little recovery time . I wouldn’t support being a walking pharmacy like Warrior or Herc Hernandez but its clear that steroids are practically necessary in that lifestyle . It has serious health implications though so it should be overseen by doctors and not casually used
JJ is too intelligent to be an average “ Boy “ . I often wonder why he became a wrestler . Obviously no jock . Studious . Calculating . Polite . The wild and wooly world of Wrasslin’ seems a poor fit for this guy .
