Timex Easy Reader Day/Date Review T20041 

Like you said, you just can’t go wrong with Timex...great value and looks for the money. And Indiglo makes up for a couple of other specs they lack.

Tldr : easy reader sounds better than my other cheap watch, day date works but could be better. Just got my easy reader in the mail today and I love the noise. Had a 5-10 year old skmei (probably $10) as my daily for a while now and could definitely hear the ticking when I face my ear towards it about 5 feet away in silence. Easy reader is quieter but still noticeable while ticking in silence at certain angles (facing ear), but has a much much softer tick. I like to hear the mechanics working and so far it seems like a perfect balance. The softer tick makes it less noticeable but can still count the seconds going by if I focus on it. Maybe at night it could be distracting for people who don’t like it, but putting it under a blanket or blocking direct path to it (setting it behind my wallet on my nightstand) seems to cut it down to nothing noticeable. When I set my hands down on my lap or to my side, I hear nothing, so having it on at a movie theater wouldn’t bother anyone or myself. It’s nice that I can face the top towards me and hear it, and also not hear it while doing daily activities. For the day date, yeah it’s not the best. Mine changes day a little late about 3am, and the date starts moving around 10:30pm. Around 11pm it’s about halfway done so you can’t really see either of the dates (current day and day it’s about to change to). So basically it works, if it’s the middle of the day and you need to see the day date, it’ll be correct. Just gets hard to see/not fully correct between 11pm and midnight for date, and midnight to 3am for day. I haven’t had to manually adjust for shorter months yet obviously, but I see it taking about 2 minutes to do so. If you put in the small amount of work every other month, then you’ll have a perfectly good day date watch 95% of the time you check it. And the indiglo was definitely the selling point for me, works like a charm. Super easy to see time and day/date. No flashlight charging needed (useless type of nighttime watch in my eyes) for glow in the dark dyes, and not $1000 like a nice tritium watch might cost and only last 15 years.

I agree, that Timex are such a value and they are knocking out of the park lately with their upper range models ($200-$500) such as the Waterbury Chrono. Good work Jeff. Nice Ascot...

If you have ever misbehaved, massively, on a school night, you appreciate a slow changeover between 10pm and 4am. For that reason alone I am ordering this immediately.

Didn't realise there are different versions of the easy reader .....mine doesn't have the day just date plus mine dont have red hand its silver.... great no nonsense simple watch .... Indiglo is superb 👌

Indigo light is a great feature particularly for oldies like me! Even a Rolex doesn't have it.

Just ordered one from Amazon as a gift for my son.

Wearing mine today as it was my daily until I got a blue Marlin Automatic for Xmas. I love Timex. Considering collecting.

That Indiglo looks awesome

Timex is notorious for loud ticking sound. Does it makes loud ticking sound like other Timex?

I own this exact watch. Mine looks exactly like yours. The ticking noise is too loud. I can even hear it while driving. I have a Casio watch too that I bought to try finding a quieter watch. The Casio does tick quieter. But my mistake I banged the Casio into a door frame and the crown broke off. Now I need a new watch.

I cannot see what you’re doing with crown with your clunky gloves…it obscures what you’re doing! How do I wind up watch…stem winder?

It requires CR 2016 battery. When the battery weakens take it to a jeweler. I tried changing the battery with the help of RU-vid but the battery itself wouldn't snap in place. As the result, I ruined 2 Timex watches.

Wow, some days ago I bought this watch and I just had that doubt and question, Why does the day change at 3 am? I don't know Is strange this, but anyway, I think that is just how the clock is C'mon @TIMEX could you explain us? Is an excellent video, I reslly liked your video Regards!!

Day change on this watch is awful, a 5-dollar watch on aliexpress can do better.

Think that if you took those gloves off, you would have had less trouble setting the watch ho ho 😛.

Pull the crown out half way to set the date.
