He didn't care about his colleagues attacking the industry's former customer base, said nothing over the last 5-8 years when his position could have prevented some of the industry's demise. Now, several million people stopped going to the cinema (prices have something to do with that but it's mostly content) and stopped streaming or buying physical media and merch. He and those who were hugely successful in the entertainment industry should have thought of that.

Who's even watching new movies anymore, I stopped caring about them nearly two decades ago now. Close down Hollywood and turn the studios into museums, so to come visit a time when good movies were still being made but it's all over today, there's enough great stuff to look back on to last lifetimes for all generations now and in the future. Probably the most egregious miscasting box ticking, was the hit play in London in 2021, The best of Enemies. A stage adaption of the film about the 1968 tv debate between Gore Vidal & William F Buckley. The director,James Graham, cast a black actor, David Harewood, to play Buckley.

I disagree with Sean Penn on most everything but I appreciate him saying this. I’m so tired of valid criticisms for poor to very bad tv shows, movies, and games get tossed aside and the creators blame the fans saying the criticisms are just bc they are coming from homophobic, transphobic, or whatever men. How can I like Game of Thrones, which has gay and trans and lesbian people, yet criticize the acolyte and be labeled? When “the message” becomes your sole focus regardless of how good or bad the product is then you get today’s entertainment industry. They are isolated in ther liberal progressive bubble, and have pushed out anyone with even a slight hint of disagreement, and then wonder why they fail? It couldn’t be bc they are the problem so it’s the others as why they get criticism.
