Magneto internal timing is not what you just said. It is the calibration you make it into the magneto alone. It's where the breaker points opens in relation to the internal magneto gear. What you show is just adjusting the magneto timing to the engine. Internal timing starts adjusting the magneto internally, then you close the magneto and now you install the magneto into the engine and then you are going to adjust the timing rotating the magneto body in relation to the engine to match when the piston #1 reaches TDC, and that varies form engine to engine.
Careful, (at 4:00) you do NOT install the mag on onto the engine at TDC, but rather install it when the engine is at the predetermined degrees BEFORE TDC. I would think....
For the Bendix, you remove the side vent, and look in the hole. Then you turn the mag until you see the red painted tooth. Then install the mag into the engine (which should be preset to 20 or 25 BTC)
@@aerocrafty6006 I honestly don’t know. It’s like half of the process to install it on the engine. Internally timing the mag refers to opening it up and calibrating the breaker points to the cam.
This is not how you internally time a magneto. Now if the magneto was already previously internally timed sticking the timing pin in the L or r hole according to the direction of rotation of the Mag is just putting the mag in it’s e-gap position which you can then install the mag on the engine with the # cylinder according to the manual at a specified number of degrees before top dead center on the compression stoke, usually #1 cylinder. And I will also add I didn’t see you use the mag timing box, you are supposed to check to see if the light is just coming on when you are the specified # degrees before top center and if the light isn’t just coming on you could then rotate the mag housing to make that final adjustment.
Good going aerocrafty but please don’t push videos long if you wanted long videos be watch create some more information and edit it stick with aviation standards and briefings thank you
