@@ordinary-not2525well that wasnt a disaster for him, it was a disaster for the guy he made it for. If he made a full on palace out of chocolate, thats an accomplishment on his end
Considering that is his backstory, I kind of expect him to be wide eyed and kind of naive because he hasn’t been worn down like the other two have been.
Timothy's seems like he was doing a horror movie version in this clip. I could see him about to snap and poison all the chocolate, then kill off all the oomph loompahs..😬😂😂
johnny’s wonka is still one of the best examples of a actor becoming a character. His wonka was so unlike depp himself that he’s almost unrecognizable even with not that much special effects makeup.
Johnny depp becomes unrecognizable when he becomes his characters. It’s like… crazy. As a kid I refused to believe that Jack Sparrow was Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp is one of TBE BEST actors ever and THE BEST Willy wonka
@@JennifuhhGilardibecause thats not what theyre doing? Theyre making a prequel to the OG for the fans of the OG that dont care for Depps version. Theres a difference between a remake and a prequel.
that’s the point of the story. wonka is a paranoid, sociopathic, kinda deranged, probably unstable man who fired his entire workforce so he could live in solitude in a world of “pure imagination” of course the dark underbelly of the most famous song is that his world is just that: imaginary, and thus fake
GENE HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BLUE EYES I'VE EVER SEEN 💙 😍 ❤️ ♥️ 💕 💗 💙 😍 BEAUTIFUL AND GORGEOUS GOD BLESS HIM AND HIS FAMILY FOREVER FOR GIVING US GREAT MOVIE 🎬 🎞 🎥 🎦 TO BE WATCHED OVER AND OVER AGAIN THANK YOU FOR ALL
@BlueDrawz-qy2tt I think he means he's the goofy go lucky that we think of when talking about willy wonka always full of happiness. Always full of pure imagination
@@BlueDrawz-qy2ttHe does. In fact Jonny Depp is the only one who doesn't. Willy Wanka is supposed to be excitable, wacky, cheerful, creative, funny, a tad naïve and magical.
@@alishaharper5860 Lol I've never seen it before, my name comes from my favorite color but people keep talking about the movie so maybe I'll have to watch it!
@@aaronking4074 I guess we have different opinions. I like Johnny Depps one better because the comedy he puts seem more unintentional and refreshing to watch. It might look dark and gloomy, but it really isn't.
@@heterosapiens_sapiensto be fair, he’s still young, I’m sure he will get a role in the next couple years he will be remembered for, he’s got potential
He might just have a more director reliant acting style. There are actors who can seemingly follow instructions to the individual fibers of their facial muscles, they are brilliant. But they need a director who is motivated and skilled enough or they'll be the ones mocked. Johnny's style of inventing his characters on his own is extremely stable and especially stands out in a cookie cutter director film like the POTC. But his weakness is that he needs to be motivated enough or the characters start becoming too similar. The most robust performer has a balance of both qualities, but it's extremely rare for it to be balanced the right way for actual success, navigating through the maze of when to follow the director and where to stand your ground is such a fine art.
@@emoarrrow It’s not even the line itself it’s just the way he says it so sassily at the kids and they are like OMG I can’t deal with this guy but it’s so hilarious
Yeah! Plus it was the first Willy wonka movie to exist don’t get me wrong i like the other movies with depp and chalamet as the main role but gene wilder is such an iconic person in the series
Have you seen wonka? The ending had in a puddle on the floor. It gives a reason for 5 golden tickets and the golden ticket itself. It's a goofy movie but the ending....the ending tied to the original and it made me do happy.
I just saw Timothees Wonka and it was the most magical thing I’ve seen in such a long time. I cried when I heard the original score. I can’t wait to watch it again, it was so marvellous 🥹
Timothée is very different from the other two but that’s because he plays Wonka when he was a pure innocent boy and before becoming an eccentric (which the movie is an origin story). He does remind me of a young Johnny Depp with his cheekbones, hair, and vibes.
@@shortstuff780Depp doesn't like stereotypical male leading roles. He tends toward quirky, insane, or even sometimes effeminate ones. That's why we love him ❤❤.
@@aryllio7191 also a abuser, a weirdo, and a freak. He's an average actor, but definitely a disgusting person. I have zero respect for him. Or his ex. Both are disgusting trashes that is the worst part of Hollywood
Anytime anyone in our family wakes up late we quote Johnny Depp and say “Good morning star shine the earth says hello” my usual response is “good bye “
You can clearly see who the inspiration was for the latest movie and tbh I’m glad it was. The 2005 movie I didn’t like as much. It was a little weird and creepy not wholesome like the first one
I used to be so scared of Johnny Depp Willy Wonka in my childhood Then when I was a teen I finally watched it and loved it understood why it was terrifying Timothee Chalamet Willy Wonka is one of the happiest movie I've ever seen I loved it ❤
Yes. In fact, I would have loved if this had been a movie of how an older charlie took over Wonka’s company and gave it his own twist with Jonny Deep’s Wonka being there as an older mentor.
I know😂 I would totally do that to a kid if they were scared on a rollercoaster or something. I would also do gene wilders psycho monologue when they’re in the boat that goes rlly fast😂😂.
@@Jongen.No, not at all. I don’t really care about things like that. I think the role should go to the best actor. Hugh Grant is an okay actor, but I can’t see him doing this role. It’s weird and not his style. The whole film looks like a train wreck.
I love Johnny Depp’s version the best because he so perfectly plays him like he’s insane but in a childish and innocent kind of way, he truly gives off the impression of a man who has been very isolated and living in his own little world his whole life which is all perfect for the character
I still think Depp’s portrayal is the best. He really sells the mannerisms of a madman whos been locked up in a factory for years with no human contact.
I don’t know I kinda like the look of it. I’m 14 and I love wilders version of Willy wonka. But if we’re talking suit design I really like the newer one,
I watched the Johnny Depp version first before I watched Gene Wilders version. I was 5 years old. I honestly love both, Johnny and Gene both showed a different type of Wonka!
2023s wonka shows much he had to go through to become and do what he did in the past movies this one shows his mom. the 1971 was just about the factory and the kid that hood Visit the factory. 2005 is about this factory and Wonka himself about his dad. 2023 wonka shows his mom and how much he wants to create chocolate for everyone and make them happy just like his mom made him happy. 2023’s wonka also made me cry like 10 times 😭😭
I'm kind of rooting for Timothee here. He's not gonna be Wilder Wonka, but that's okay. Wilder's was a veteran already, wise, cunning and knowledgeable gentleman. Timothee's seems like what he's supposed to be at that time: full of wonder, a dreamer, trustful of others, yet hardworking and excited to share his little magic. If I have any problem with this future project, it would be the painfully obvious crushing and cruel society (I'm too tired of those enviroments in movies).
@@Jeezenthey’re actually right though. Even in this short clip you can feel the intensity of Gene Wilder’s performance; Depp and Chalamet’s lack that passion
Gene Wilder brought Willy wonka to life on the silver screen for the first time ever. He will always be THE Willy wonka for millions of people, me included. No matter how good everyone else is, he laid the groundwork.
I was literally named after the movie with Johnny Depp's Wonka as my mom loved it during her pregnancy, and Wilder is still the iconic Wonka to me to this day lol
Actually, Roald Dahl laid the groundwork. According to his family the Depp movie is more faithful to the book as well. I still love Wilders preformance but if we're arguing who's the best we've gotta look at everything.
@Ace_of_Horns the Depp movie is certainly more faithful to the book, but was also poorly received by audiences compared to the original. Sticking to the source material isn't the only measure of a movie.
@@charliewright2667 yeah sure but people hated the star wars prequels when they came out and now people have changed their minds about them. They weren't ready for something different in my opinion. I didn't see the original movie before the remake but i saw it afterwards and liked both.
Eccentric, awkwardness, and socially inept are some personality traits of this character. Timothy looks like an excited young person who woke up and said, I love chocolate.”
Sure but that character is an adult that has been extremely successful and in some ways is jaded. Timothy is playing a younger version and after seeing the movie while it is not actually connected to either of the previous chocolate factory movies I could see a connection between a young Wonka and the older version specifically the Wilder version.
Chalamets Wonka comes closest to the original Dahl character (except maybe the Westend one by Douglas Hodge), though I love Gene Wilder‘s version. The Burton movie was just a total disappointment to me.
@@twodollarking8009 eh its a world of pure imagination and no offense but this movie sold that idea more than the other two. not that the other two did not but the newest one really built up a world that made wonka believable yet still wild.
