@Ray Tim has been by Anne's side at royal events regularly from the day they married til the day COVID put them on pause, and once Anne is able to resume normal duties I am sure he will continue to join her. He doesn't come on every engagement because he has his own job to worry about during the week, but he is always there for the big stuff (Ascot, Trooping the Color, Rememberance festival, etc.) and accompanies her on smaller engagements and international trips when he can. If you actually pay attention to what Pss Anne is doing as reported in the circular and the local press rather than seeing where the S*n have cropped him out of the photo and claimed he was not present, perhaps you would know this
After 40 years living away from England I have recently looked at interviews with Princess Anne, Xara & her brother - and realise they are all very natural, very able & mature in their outlook - they show fine leadership.
Dennis Staughton ran around on her for a good ten years before their divorce including fathering a kid out of wedlock in 1985 whom he refused to acknowledge until a paternity test proved she was his kid. married Sandy Phillips after the divorce and apparently treated her more or less the same as he walked out of that marriage about six years ago to shack up with Lauren Hough (who is the same age as his son, Peter)
I think it's pretty clear that they care for each other very much; I really don't think he sees living with her as a chore. When the media deigns to talk about them, the spin is usually that they're growing apart, but the "evidence" that they dredge up is like, pictures of Anne talking to Andrew Parker-Bowles at Ascot that Tim has been cropped out of or some BS. While he was still in the Navy, he had a desk job that kept him in London most of the week that they also liked to seize onto, but he spent weekends with her and traveled on a lot of her foreign tours as well. Since his retirement he often accompanies her on domestic engagements as well. It's not like the situation with Mark where ten years in they were rarely spending two consecutive weeks in the same country, much less the same house. I've met him and seen the both of them interact in person. He's very sweet and she seems to just relax a little more when she is around him. I really think that they're good for each other and won't be splitting up anytime soon.
I've heard that the Moldavian fashion stylist of Anne's is in reality a maker of drapes. I want to met the fella that welded all those steel wool pads together making Anne the wig she wears every day. Can you imagine how much skill it takes to insure that not even one tiny wire sticks up on its own self. They are all perfectly smooth. I think we all know why Anne has to wait out electrical rain storms in the basement, the wig would be too enticing for any lightening bolt.
If I could choose any member of the royal family to hang out with for a week (with perhaps the exception of Diana), it'd be this guy hands down . He actually put his life on the line for his country, he isn't a toffee-nosed gimp like some of the people in that family (they know who they are), he knows how the game works but still refuses live in a bubble largely due to the fact he'd seen the world already long before he showed up on the royal radar...but above all else he seems like a thoroughly decent bloke who doesn't pass up the opportunity to engage with regular people an use his privileged position to do good...
I like Sir Timothy I saw him and Princess Anne in my home town for the anniversary of the battle of Jutland pity Nicola Sturgeon was there to ruin it though.

@@Altoclarinets If anyone's interested in the Battle of Jutland there's a wonderful exhibition in Belfast about 10 minutes' walk from the Titanic Experience. Actually, I think it's smart that you singled him out as he is quite a cool, charismatic character. who is normally more in the background! It would be good to do one of him with a James Bond theme if you could find enough shots of him in action!

Sir Timothy Laurence had a very distinguished career in the Navy and has always conducted himself in a quiet dignified way. I hate that the royal family seems to treat him as a fifth wheel, although Peter and Zara seem to be very fond of him. In an interview I heard with them quite a long time ago, they speak of him very affectionately.
