Intelligent. I like that a lot of the comments are about how smart she is. The woman is a pioneer and badass. Her humor is sophisticated. She sticks by her opinions and flat out says them. Props cause she's flat out talented.
She's a SLAG... Not funny.. Her delivery is boring, she has no range.. Think about it, Whoopie Goldberg got one,,, Do you really think SHE deserved one ? LOL its rhetorical... We know the answer.
@@PlaceForAnEcho I appreciate your level headedness. But tell me honestly, does she deserve this award? at age 40 something ? Or is it a media/hollywood feminist power play? Who knows, but it feels fishy.
+Grae “seven” Hall Little did she know then she would soon go on to write a white woman as a Lakota indian, leading many to say, no seriously Tina, that's kind of racist.
antourte1 I loved season 2, because the one man show put on by Titus really nails it. A black guy playing a Japanese female character, "leading many to say, no seriously ... that's kind of racist". That being the point, then through the power of the performance by Titus that stupid gotcha bullshit falls away. And a story is appreciated for what it is. So yeah, you can be part of the group saying "that's kind of racist" protesting Titus', I mean Tina's show. Or you can get the fuck over it and judge it for the story it tells and how it tells it.
+Grae “seven” Hall You seem a little irked, so I guess I'll just say I was not among those thinking it was racist. (Although I did think that plotline was more awkward and less funny than it could've been.)
This is a pretty good representation of why Tina Fey is in my top five people ever. It's not an objective list, its just those who's work or life put a genuine smile on my face. She's incredible, and it's great that she got this recognition.
Hollywood is stupid when it comes to racism. Do these fools no realize there's 20 worse things than racism. Not to mentin racism towards black ppl are is very minor. They should get their heads out of their asses and realize most of the racism in this country is directed towards white pple
@@NotDuncan if you say so .. Tina Fey is the one I was pointing out tho.. She's not even in the top 3000 humorous people of this generation.. Julia Louis Dreyfus, now THERE'S a funny lady ! ... time for another cut and paste reply ?
@@fredhubbard7210 Mark Twain may have used mild humor, but for the most part his works aren't real knee-slappers. Secondly, he is long-deceased. Lots of currently popular artists are simply current (as in making art that is easily accessible to the culture at large, not something you have to go to a library to find).
Best Tina Fey line ever: Martha Stewart's been gone a week and look at my meatloaf. (She holds up an oven tray with a cat sitting in it. The cat is slathered in tomato sauce.)
"Even during trying times like an orange alert or a bad economy or a contentious election that we as Americans retain our sense of humor..." Oh, how times have changed.
I kind of just realized that Will Ferrel's Mark Twain speech is very similar to the structure of Tina's. Looks like he watched this one before he wrote his. I'm only 2 minutes in - but just an observation so far
A very talented all round performer. She is still a young woman and ( God willing ) we can look forward to many years of her unique presence and humour on TV and in the cinema.
Her husband Jeff was offered to do a comedy show in Vienna at some point before they were married and no one in Vienna liked it....so the joke references her story with Jeff as well (told in "Bossypants")
“People will see my work and think, ‘wow that’s actually pretty racist” 2021: NBC removes one episode of 30 Rock for 3 seconds of blackface (without getting context in the story) This aged amazingly
"... I wanna thank Alec Baldwin for not coming tonight ..." laughing my cheeks off. they have such a charming and sometimes awkward relationship - great chemistry :D.
jljf2f There was a lot of satire in Twain’s writing. The kids were smarter than the white adults & the kids knew that the “N” Jim character was wiser than the white adults & they respected him.
never has anyone been more deserving of this award. tina is in a class with george carlin and richard pryor. a lot of the comedians selected aren't even political, and of course we all know that mark twain was fiercely political, and the idea that robin williams, dave chappelle, or chris rock aren't in this club should piss you off.
I have no clue why Robin was never selected, but Dave and Chris have theirs now. And to be quite honest, Tina Fey has been more hard working than either of those guys (Dave is my favorite of all time by the way). She is undeniably a genius, the numbers she put up for SNL and 30 Rock ALONE prove that. You simply don't get to be a head writer at SNL for 7 years (most successful of modern years as far as I know, too). Or have a show running for 7 seasons on a major network just because she's a woman. You may not find her speech funny, but the fact that all these legendary pillars of comedy call her a genius while "tomitstube" calls her undeserving, well let's just say I'll go with Steve Martin and Co.
She's absolutely brilliant! And gorgeous! So glad that Julia Louis Dreyfus became 4th woman to win.....they have set the bar so high for both genders! But I think Amy Poehler deserved to be the 5th in the not too distant future, but there are a lot of female comedic actors out there now who also have a shot, but I really think Tina Fey and Julia Louis Dreyfus have smashed open the door for others in the future. This award arts wise is far more prestigious than a golden globe or an Oscar in my opinion as the later awards can involve a lot of Politics! 😔
Tina Fey's problem has been that she's too smart and nerdy for the average person. A much better writer than actress, she's very good at subtlety. And yes, the Sarah Palin bit made her famous.
She is a gem !!!! Top 10 comedians for me In no order 1.will Ferrell 2.Amy poehler 3.john mulaney 4. Dave chappelle 5.john mulaney 6.anthony jeselnik 7.jim jefferies 8.daniel tosh 9. Donald Trump's speeches are funnier than this shit. If she is the third woman to receive this award, it's no wonder that more women haven't won it more often. This I guess is a victory for Feminism--giving awards based on genitals. I know lots of women funnier than her... but awarding her this explains why so many people think women don't have a sense of humour. It's not that women don't have a sense of humour: SJWs just don't.
I love Tina so much... so much that even if she looks like the bride of frankenstein, i could go to some japanese and ask him to reanimate me as his monster, just so tina and i would be like compatible to each other.
Mary Tyler Moore, Valerie Harper, Betty White, Bea Arthur, Norman Lear, Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Rob Reiner, James L Brooks, James Burrows, The list goes on. There are so many deserving career veterans who dedicated three fourths of their lives to quality comedy and who gets the award. The novice. Fucked up jury.. Totally.
