Oh this reminds me of a trip to Enna by train. The train station was at the bottom of a long winding road up to Enna. OOOPS. Fortunately during our walk up the hilly road we got picked up by a local and driven to the top. The joys of independent travel. It's the best! Love your channel.
Your comment has helped more than you know, David. We were planning on taking the train to Enna but now we might just do it when we have our car... walking up long hills is only so fun to an extent! 😂 Your Enna trip sounds like an amazing experience though, such an awesome way to begin an adventure! Thank you again! 🥰
@@TheGlobalExpats The bus station is up in the town. If you were going to take public transit it would be best to take the bus. We learned this the hard way.
Posto meraviglioso...lo conosco Benissimo mio padre è di Quelle parti.. Anche la leggenda che lega la Madonna Bizantina al Quel posto...raccontato nei suoi versi da Quasimodo ❤️...
Loved seeing the inside of that incredible church. Special thanks for that!! This seems like something that would happen to me and my husband! Love the piccole citta!! 🇮🇹❤️🇮🇹
I live just across the straight in Calabria.. I loved Tindari! Did you go into the Museum?, check out the town and their thermal heating systems, the history of this place is so much more than just the Greek Theatre . Only in Southern Italy do you get a ride in a police car to start you on your journey (without being arrested or a fine) ! Just amazing! Enjoy your adventures. Have fun... Stay hydrated in this blazing heat!
Ahh that’s awesome! 🤗 No way, I can’t believe we missed those! It really is a beautiful little town though, the views from up there are gorgeous 😍 Hahaha yes we do live for the adventure, it was so funny & sweet of the police to help us out 😂 Hope you’re having a great summer across the straight! 🤗🇮🇹
I live in Rome and my husband is Sicilian. His family venerates a Black Madonna like mine does but from a different perspective. There are Black Madonnas all over Europe, 37 in France alone. The black Madonna that my Cuban family venerates is Our Lady of Regla. She is but one of many in Andalusia Spain. She came to Cuba with the Spanish and is synchronized in Cuba with the Yoruba Nigerian mother of fertility deity of the sea, Yemaya. I wish you would have got a real shot of the Madonna's actual face, you walked so far to see her and didn't really show her. Black Madonnas are reminants of the worship of the black mother figure, the goddess Isis in Rome and Greece. They are beautiful and powerful. The representation of the mother of humanity.
Fantastic guys! one of the most interesting site that few people knows. thanks for doing it! for real, thanks from the bottom of my heart! hope to show you guys around one day!
Thank you so much Rodolfo, we’re so happy you liked it! 🥰 Tindari is a gorgeous hidden gem - definitely worth the hike to the top! And yes, hopefully we can meet one day 🤗🇮🇹
@@TheGlobalExpats I managed to get to the top of La Rocca in Cefalu with sciatica that was a challenge ' I'd be up for trying this climb for sure & with good walking shoes 'water & a beer at the top of the stairs would await me 🇮🇹🍻
Oh wow!!!! What a hike!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩 Those sceneries are gorgeous!!!!! You make such wonderful videos!!!! I enjoy them so much!!! Thank you sooo much!!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
If not already in your Sicilian list, you should check out caltagirone and villa romana del casale, San Vito lo capo and castellamare del golfo , gole dell’alcantara, saline Di trapani, scala dei turchi
We managed to see everything on your list minus Caltagirone and Gole dell'alcantara! The rest were absolutely incredible and the videos will follow soon 🥰
I was born in a little town 15 minutes drive along the coast east of there… moved to the US at 4 years of age in 1969 but plenty of family still in that area… reminded me on my trips home over the years… parents always forced us to spend at least one day visiting the church so they could make a donation and buy some Ciciri and hazelnut necklaces…You missed a bet not heading to the Mari Seco for a dip…one of the better beaches in the area…. Thanks for the video, really made me home sick.
This is a really good channel! Your videos are really, really great. We're loving your trip through Sicily (we pretend to do one soon too!). Keep coming. Thank you, guys!
Thank you so much for your kind words Matheus, that means a lot! 🥰 We hope you have an amazing trip when you come here - Sicily is like heaven on earth! 🤗🇮🇹
Great videos !! I will be arriving in Sicily on Thursday. Can’t wait to see my family as it’s been 17 years since I was there. I know the heat has been intense this week but still so looking forward to it. Also watching you guys has only added excitement for my trip 👍🇮🇹🎉
@@TheGlobalExpats trip was great ! Totally surprised my family and was so worth it ❤️ The heat however was unbelievable the 13 days I was there though. At one point it was over 102 for 5 days in a row lol. One day it was 105 !! I will say towards the end of the trip, there was a little stress due to the Covid uptick in Sicily and going from a white zone to orange was fun to hear. Another good note, my trip there with Alitalia might have been the best one way flight I ever had. So ironic that they are now closing shop in a few months as they finally seemed to get it right after all these years lol. Thanks again for your videos and your content and I can’t wait to back as soon as possible ! 👍🇮🇹❤️
Were they Carabinieri, M&M? What a wonderful bunch, generous and attentive to visitors and tourists, so much so they gave you a lift!:-)))) Only in Italia! I was once in France visiting, the french gave us a nasty stare and would not reply not even in french.
The lady is very cute/pretty, and not fake like most Americans. I am sure, if all the lady's in the world were like her, there was no war. He is also ok. Edit: she is also funny and energetic. He is also ok.
Hy guys, I'm from Messina but I didn't know that amazing path to the top of the sanctuary hill. Thanks for letting me to discover it by your amazing videos. Bye bye
You guys are unique and mad cool. It reminded me of my trip to Italy. I needed to change money in Rome nearby Terminis Train Station and I had so much luggage that I could not go through the thin revolving door. As a result, the carabinieri helped me with the luggage so that I can go through an employee door and do my business. Everyone was looking at me like a two head monster. Then off my way to Tren Italia and Florence.
Hey guys .. ur all videos are fantastic.. especially Italy ... It feels like I m walking next to you on roads of Italy. What is appealing is the simplicity that both of u have. I was in Italy in Nov 19 just before Corona. Planning to visit again in May 22 ... hope to see u .. Also Happy New Year to Both of u ..
Some information from a local... The path that leads from Oliveri-Tindari station to the town of Tindari is called "sentiero Coda di Volpe" (fox tail path) and you can easy find it on Maps. It's quite hard, but, as you can see, the landscape is beautiful. On the other side, there is no bus service between Tindari and Oliveri, while there are a few bus that connects Tindari to Patti: the town of Tindari in fact is part of the municipality of Patti.
You guys are so enjoyable to watch! We go to tindari every 4 years, it’s the 1st destination we hit when we come to visit family in Italy. My sister and I would LOVE to do this treck! How long did it take you guys in total to reach tindari from the base of the steps?
Rather than suffer on the Tindari, it was better to go to the Aeolian islands! 😍 But now that you have made a foil to the Virgin Mary (un fioretto alla Madonna) , you can make a wish! 😂
In our way from Giardini-Naxos to Cefalú we decided it was a good idea to visit Tindari and have lunch there, we were with a rental car so reaching it was easy, the problem was that there was a service at the church, I think it was a wedding with full mass, so we couldn't see the Black Madonna, we did the same walk to the end of town, got lunch but the service was still going, so after talking some picture of the views we continue on our way to Cefalú!
You are lucky you didn't have to climb the hill, Alfredo! 😂 But we are sorry you didn't get to see the Black Madonna, hopefully you can road trip again soon and visit Tindari on route! 🇮🇹
Hi guys. This reminds me of when my friend and I were trying to get to the Monastery atop a hill in Bologna. We ended up not getting there. Sometime later, we found out there was a bus to the top! It looks like you can drive up to the Santuario Madonna del Tindari as well.
Thank you for sharing, that is good to know for when we visit Bologna also 🙌🏽 Sometimes things are just not that straightforward in Italy hey Nina! We understand where you are coming from 😅 Yes there is a road up, but unfortunately without a car we were all out of options 😂
Another enjoyable video! Who is doing the editing? It seems like another professionally made for tv holiday production! Also pretending that the climb is difficult was funny 😏. Looking forward to the next one as the hustle and bustle of the streets is what I've been waiting for? Do they have any fishing ports in siciliy with traditional fishing? Just because i like old fishing boats.
Ahhh Mark, your comment made our day! Thank you so much 🥰 That hill was seriously brutal in this summer heat! 😂 I (Micha) do the bulk of the editing & then we fine tune each video together 🤓 From what we’ve seen so far, Cefalu seems to be the best place to see traditional fishing boats. And Palermo is such a vibrant city that we had to break it in to 2 parts - so we hope you enjoy the next 2 Sunday’s episodes! 🤗
