Back in the mid 70s when I was a kid I had this tiny Eagle Claw ice fishing pole that I used to fish with all the time. I got ridiculed like crazy from a lot of folks for using it but most days I'd go home with supper in tow when they didn't catch anything. I loved that little pole. Can't remember what ever happened to it now.
I'm impressed with that little reel. If it held 200 yards of 10 lb braid and was a little stouter I'd have to buy one. But I don't think it would catch many redfish before it popped.
I saw a FAT 43” musky get landed on 8 lb test, Spinning rod, no leader, Texas rig worm junebug color on Easter Sunday 2019. Also saw a beefy 40” get caught on 6 lb test, white beetle spin, dad was using a kids tiny zebco setup cause kid was pouting/not fishing 😂 he says “fine if ur not gonna cast it, I will.” Then he gets a dang musky in shallow weedy water. Said he hit the lure as soon as it touched the water so he put that thing right in front of its face.
Me and a friend did this with one of those "learn to fish" packages from PlayCo where you have little plastic fish you attach to the rod. Let me tell you, those bluegill faught like Tuna on that little plastic rod😂😂 but dang man, that's a huge peacock for that rod!
Peacock Bass are amazing! The first time I caught one it was 9lbs and I had no clue they even existed. What did you use for bait? Great job My brother...
Well when you got open waters you can make it work. Try that in a river with strong current and fallen logs. You don't need a strong line in open ponds, but people still do it for some reason.
