FINALLY! Someone who gets it. If aliens capable of interstellar travel attack, they'd be so technologically advanced we would have no chance. The plus side is being so séances they'd have little need for hypertrophy so we can fight them with our MASSIVE QUADS
@youretotallyrightbut463

Except you’re assuming that being able to travel such distances means having the ability to cart their best weaponry those distances and take the necessary man power those distances. We can get to the moon....if there was a race of cave men like beings on the moon and we tried to attack, they’d easily fight us off.

I use weightlifting shoes for the leg press and go as deep as the machine lets me. Then a personal trainer came by and said that this is wrong and I shouldn´t go that deep so I can use more plates ( like he does). That´s exactly the typical ego lifting Dr Mike always talks about. I instantly thought about Mike´s bro imitation.😅

Hey Dr. Mike I have a question about the training with weightlifting shoes and would love to hear your opinion. If let's say you have to do Squats and RDLs in the same training, should you stay in your shoes while doing the RDLs or is it better to take them off for this exercise. I recently bought some weightlifting shoes and tried to do the whole training whit them, but notice that my form and hamstrings activation have changed slightly. I don't know if this is a problem and if it will hurt my optimal progress on this exercise in the long run. Thank you for your time and the content you are putting out there.

Dr Mike - you briefly mentioned good ol normal squats, but I have a question. I have a tibfib injury that I've had 3 surgeries for that is still ongoing.. I can squat without pain, for the most part, if I elevate my heels while squatting. I still use squat shoes, I just set my heels on something that elevates them further and this allows me to sit back easier and to get more bend in my knee, so more depth, before my knee pops and bad things happen with weight on them. TL;DR- does this also apply if you're doing some form of heel elevated normal ol squat?

I definitely need to get some legit shoes. I use my hips so much that I have an overuse injury in my right hip (some type of tendonitis) that's become unbearable in almost every lift. It use to only hurt in lkwbar wide stance squats, but now it doesn't matter what kind of squat, and has even worked its way into leg pressing. Perhaps good shoes might shift the emphasis to the quads and relieve my hip.

Flat shoes over shoes with a squishy foam sole, however weightlifting shoes sometimes even have wood in the heels to make them super stiff and hard. So quite often, barefoot or chucks for deadlifts and squat shoes or barefoot for squats over a standard Nike or Adidas trainer for example. When you have several hundred pounds on the bar your trainer you may think is solid, soon begins to sink either at the heel or arch.

I'm about to go into a power-building phase and was thinking of keeping my main lifts, just making them 40% of my time and effort instead of like 75% of my time and effort, and working deadlifts in the 6-10 rep range. Open question to anyone, thanks in advance!

@SpaghettiToaster
@SpaghettiToaster 2 года назад
Of course there are. 3-5 for strength, 5-30 for hypertrophy, everything above for endurance, same as every other lift. It's true that deadlifts usually feel better in the lower rep ranges, but if you want to train for hypertrophy, there's no reason to only do 3-5. If you're training for strength only, you probably want to stick to 3-5.
@TheGreektrojan
@TheGreektrojan 2 года назад
I've had good luck doing deadlifts in sets of 8. No reason Deadlifts shouldn't be treated like any other lift. The only deadlift heavy thing is mostly pure convention (brah 1x5 deadlifts only). Similar to squats though, higher rep work gets real gnarly real fast with the high absolute loads, so most people probably wouldn't want to do high rep regular deadlifts.

@leinekenugelvondoofenfocke1002
@leinekenugelvondoofenfocke1002 2 года назад
I put most of my weight in my heel, and then have enough of my weight in the rest of my foot to isometrically externally rotate at the hip which twists my feet out against the floor. I have just enough weight in the rest of my foot where they dont actually move out. That way I can hold position with my whole foot while driving through my heels. I don't want my weight too evenly distributed on my whole foot because those smaller bones in the foot move under load, and then when I sense the instability by body won't let me apply as much force. It takes practice to coordinate this, but in my opinion it allows more force production. Its possible though that not enough weight is there to keep the bones from moving around in the skin. In which case I am wrong.
