The zip baggie idea is a great idea. As for the writing pad, I can't live without my journals to keep track of things or to scribble notes in. I love the colorfully decorative 8.25" x 6.5" journals by TopFlight. I really loved your embellishment ideas! Thanks for a great video! 🙂
Oh thank you so so much for this video!!!! E6000 and I have a love/hate relationship. Btw- that’s exactly what I do for art!! The embellishments. I always layer with filigree as my base. Guess I’m not so original after all. Lol
What kind of syringe do you use? Do the syringes come with tips? Do you throw the syringe away afterwards, or do the tips keep it from drying out? How long does it stay moist with a tip? Where do you buy the syringes with tips?
I don't know about phoenixphire, but I use 10ml oral dosage syringes with a cap. You can get multipacks for cheap, like this one: www.amazon.com/Pack-10ml-Medication-Syringes-Needle/dp/B01HDXZR5E/ As long as you get all the air out of it (push the plunger until nothing but E6000 is left inside) and put the cap on, it should keep just as well as it does in its original tube. I also recommend keeping it out of direct light (in a drawer or box). I don't know for sure that E6000 is UV sensitive, but the nature of its tube suggests it might be, as many adhesives are.
@@yolandaholly9848 most likely a 3cc syringe will do the trick, and yes they come with covers for the top. Just make sure you clean the tip with alcohol before applying the cover. You can get syringes at animal feed store(not a Petco or PetSmart) if you have on near you👍.
you do not judge toxicity by whether you can smell it ... there are fumes that offgas into your skin, your lungs and thereby your organs ... read the label and pay attention accordingly; work outside as much as possible or at least open the windows. I can feel the toxicity on my tongue, even fumes from so called safe glues. Very important, its a silent toxic in many cases, no signs.
That's the only tip on the E6000 glue. I watched the whole video thinking there'd be more tips, but nope. "Tip" in the title sure is appropriately singular. :P
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I order all your pretty stuff and have tried but failed using e6000 glue in bond 2 metal pieces. It's too stretchy and comes apart after curing all night. Maybe the pastry bag tip will work for me!
Thank you so much for making a video that finally told me what glue to use. I currently have plans to make one of my sisters a special pendant using a very similar pendant to the one you have in this clip at 6:05 at the very top of the video clip. I intend to glue a large red gem stone to it because the pendant doesn't have prongs to hold it down. Would you suggest using the E-6000 to do?
That's a great tip but, my problem is that once I close the tube of glue not matter what I do it dries out. I even seal it with Saran Wrap, and when I ready to use it again is dry. I have to use an ice pick to dig out all the dry glue from the top.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I feel like an idiot I told myself i wish there was a way to make it like a pastry tool, I had the idea but why didn't I think of a zip lock bag... Thank so much!!
I am planning on using E6000 for a project, but after reading about it's toxicity, I bought a 1/2 face respirator mask with an appropriate filter (3M 6001 organic vapor) and plan on using in my garage with an open door. If you're smelling that bad smell, you're exposed to the vapor. If after use you feel a headache, nausea, dizziness, confusion or blurred vision, you don't have adequate ventilation. If you're doing regular, daily crafting with this stuff, consider using a different, less toxic glue. ESPECIALLY if you have any respiratory issues.
I wish the sound was more clear. I like the glue in a bag idea. Those coated clips can be bought at the Dollar Tree, I get them there, and it’s a pk of 4 or 6.
I know this video is older , I don't care :-) I want to thank u for posting this I am a first time user of this glue and your video was so cool and helpful . So glad I clicked on it .
If you let the glue set for about an hour, you can return with tweezers and just pluck off the escaped glue from the filigree. If you try to wipe it off, it makes a big mess.
nybsbfan18 walmart also sells these little jewelry bags in 3 or 4 sizes (all in wads of 100 or more) for a few dollars - really, I think I pay less than $3 for them and after buying 3 different sizes to store and sell many goods, I still have tons of them.
I enjoyed your ideas in your video. The only problem is, I had to watch it a few times because I was so distracted because I couldn't take my eyes off of your hugh gorgeous ring! LOL. Would love to see that up close & know where you purchased it from or who designed it. Thanks
this is amazing, thank you so much for sharing it. would you mind me asking where do you buy the stampings? (not sure if i spelled it right) thank you.
I always use less than what I think I will need. If some of the glue leaks out, don't touch it. Wait for about two hours and go back with tweezers and or a needle tool. You can pick and pull the excess glue away without leaving a mess.
If you will be washing the fabric in a washing machine or drying the item in a dryer, E6000 will cease to hold. It works best if the fabric will remain dry.
Tip to anyone who might be using this for costuming - This stuff works great, but do not use it on any kind of foam. It will eat straight through it like acid. However, the comments section here did answer my question about being able to use this on fabric. Thank you.
Hi. The ziploc-bag tip is SUPERB... This is the major problem with this slue - it dries very quickly. Also I would like to ask this, how do you avoid the "hairs" or "spaggettis" that stretch out from the glue when you pull your glue applicator away from the work area ? Thanks!!
pakpukik You can pull those strands away after they dry for a few minutes. I tend to make a bigger mess when I try to remove them while they are still fresh.
I like the product and have only one complaint. It's been 3 days, the gemstone is secure and dry but I can still smell the glue. Not a pleasant smell hanging on the necklace around my neck.
That was sooooooooooo cute how you stacked the silver pieces on top of each other. I had a question about E6000. When I went on ebay to buy it there are all different types of this glue. I don't mean sizes but kinds. Some say permanent bond, industrial strength. They all say for jewelry. How do I know which one to get? There is even one in a tan/gold tube. I will be making resin jewelry & glueing on the bales? Coud I even use this glue on a resin plaque to attach chains to hang on a wall?
Cerise Karpinski Sorry to take so long to answer. In my experience, the glue holds very well in all jewelry making tasks. I don't know about hanging something on wall.
Hi Sue, Love the idea of the plastic bag for E6000 - how do you stop the flow between crafts, so I don't have to keep throwing out unused glue? Also, I heard that googone makes great cleanup of E6000 around your jewelry. How would I clean up the excess glue so it doesn't look all glue-y at the joint? (i.e. Filigree ring with steampunk items like watch movements, glued to the top of the shank.) The glue will come thru the filigree, toward the finger, how to clean excess?
You are adorable thank you for you eloquent way of teaching you remind me of my mother yet I’m so much older then you so thanks fo the sweet memories You make me cry . But my creativity is contagious.😂
Do you have any tips on how to get the smell out of the object that you glued on. I am making some necklaces and matching rings for the little kids at church. I was strongly suggested by another crafter to use the e6000 glue in which they told me it was odorless. I got the glue and found that it did have a strong odor even on my jewelry one can smell it. I wouldn't want any of the kids to have symptoms from smelling the odor. I have read that the odor last for a week, some for days upon days and some says that the odor never leaves. Would you happen to know of anyway how I can get the odor out of the jewelry after it sets for a week with out ruining the jewelry itself. Your response would be greatly appreciated.
+Liz Gross I found that the order goes away after a couple of days. You might like Aleene's Ultimate Multi-Surface Adhesive for this project. It can be found at Walmart and it works really well also. There isn't as strong of an order with that one.
I fell in love with a ring on Amazon. Looks like some reviewers have had problems with the stone popping out. Pretty sure stone is really hard plastic as this is a costume jewelry piece. Can I use this on plastic to metal ? Thanks
Hello! Sorry to take so long to answer you. Yes you can use E6000 glue in a variety of ways. If the wire has enough surface mass, you can glue stones to it.
Hi please could say how long does it take for the glue to set. i have glued a cloth patch onto a biker vest. i left it with heavy weight on top of it so it would have pressure and make good contact. i left it like this for 12 hours and i could still peel the patch up so i have placed weight back on it.
I've never had any luck using this glue. It's runny, goopy, and takes forever to dry & cure. I came here to find out if I've been doing it wrong & I haven't as far as I can tell so i can't figure why this glue gets such high marks among crafters.
You just have to be extremely quick with it, so it doesn’t get goopy. It gets such high marks because it’s practically indestructible-once you glue something with it, it stays. Very few other glues do that.
