One of the few plants in my garden that really get attacked by pests… here I show the secrets to my success here in Northern California z9b. Btw… SMASH THE SUBSCRIBE BUTTON! As always… it dont cost anything and it helps my channel grow!
I live in Florida and these grow really well in a shaded area well watered right now 11/23 they are in Full bloom and dark green leaves very healthy we had 30 + days of 100 degree plus temps and did not effect them at all
We’ve got a pair of 20 and 25yo outside our home in LA, one southeast and one northeast side. We’ve got crappy old soil and I’ve never given them any nutrients. They grow to 20+ft and I chop them back each year, sometimes twice. One of got crunch to the ground maybe 15 years ago by a falling palm tree and it just grew right back. We can get 115+ here in the summer and the rare freeze in winter.
Well. Being I’m in PA. Temps get way below 0. - 18 last winter. I’m guessing I can’t plant mine outside. 😢 Got it for Christmas 2023. It’s still going. In pot. But looking leggy. I thought maybe against the house. But from the sounds of things they get big. I worry about the roots getting into my French drains. It’s now May 2024 and I’m shocked it lasted this long. Also can’t fine good potting soil here. Everything has sticks and bark in it or it turns hard as a rock in pots. 😢. I have lost many house plants after repotting them. This video is 2 yrs old. So I’m not expecting any reply. God bless all.
I tried to resurrect a dried out poinsettia last year. Had it pushing out new growth before my wife made an “executive decision” to toss it. I’ll have to try planting this year’s outside. Do you put yours in the ground or keep them in pots?
new growth and it got tossed, omg, next time keep the plant and toss the wife :P (yes I am joking!!!). I bought 2 almost dead Poinsettia after last christmas, baring in mind I am in Vic Australia so our seasons are opposite, anyway I had no clue and somehow managed to resurrect them both and they have now lived through summer and winter and about to head into spring....been looking lovely too. Moral or the story, there is hope for any of us as Im not really a green thumb lol. I did use liquid seaweed (seasol) and another seaweed+ organic fert liquid. rather random in my application (again, not a green thumb lol), so it may have also been the thing that helped bring the zombie plants back to life. Good luck with your next attempt. :)
According to usda charts, there is a zone 9a which has average winter extremes of 20f -25f and the zone that I am in is zone 9b which has extreme winter mean lows 25f-30f. The difference is big as 20f will damage citrus and 30f won’t harm most
Poinsettias were doing well even despite our extreme south Texas heat this summer. Went on vacation, came back to plant with no leaves. I really didn't water regularly before, and the pot is situated for morning sun for a couple hours then shade. Now my second ones is going down hill. Any thoughts?
Hi there jeff! So i have 5 yrs with mine its big and pretty but my only problem is how can i get nice big red flowers as it has alot but now big as how i had purchased them
Mine is outdoors and I use the rose fertilizer/systemic pesticide. It’s in partial shade. The experts say to cover with a tarp for 12 hours per day, but I haven’t found that needed.
Keep it out of any light from street lamps or yard lights on at night time after August. Or always for that matter Start fertilizing for flowers in October. They need lots of calcium and magniseim too.
I've had my poinsettia here in Ontario, California... in a partially shaded spot for about 5 years and it's a little over 6ft tall with a "trunk" ... so it has lasted quite a bit... just need to learn how to trim/prune it.
