Tips to help you on E-Day and Immediate Dentures

You just described me! Lol. I went back the day after and flipped out on the hygienist because I didnt know why the bottoms wouldn't fit.. I started crying.. I felt regret, upset with my decision and mad at her.. Until, I listened to her, who knew how to talk to me and she changed my outlook on my new life with dentures..THANK YOU for your videos!

I had mine done cold turkey. I drove my wife and I 60 miles and arrived at 6:00 am at the surgeon's office. They took me straight in made a couple last minute xrays put me on the table and started my IV. He came in and asked if I was ready. Don't remember anything after that. Three and a half hours later ( I had some bone removed too ). I had total extraction and he sewed everything up. Spent an hour in recovery then wife drove me home. They offered pre meds but I declined as I was driving that morning. I am not really scared of anything so I didn't need anything to relax me. By all means if you have anxiety about it get some pre meds. The nurses explained everything to my wife as I was still groggy and my post surgery meds were at the pharmacy when we got home. My biggest suggestion is be sure to ASK QUESTIONS. No question is off limits. You are having a life changing event so ask questions. Shop around and get references before having it done. I was able to wait eight weeks before I had my first dentures made so the swelling had gone. It makes a difference. I lost mine due to gum disease and some other problems so take care of your teeth and see a dentist often. You can get through it...

Justin, I have followed your journey early on and you have given me the confidence of starting my own journey. Like you I am in pain 24/7 but I was just to scared to take a step in the right direction, but because of you I am ready and have made my first step. Thank you sir. Keep the videos coming. Thank you for doing these videos! While I'm not in daily pain, I've spent more than $20k on my teeth in the last 25 or so years. Now I'm told it's gonna cost $12-15k to fix the current problems, and there's no promise in 5 years I won't be back in the chair fixing more. I can't justify the money knowing I'll end up with dentures eventually anyway. Your knowledge has been helpful!

What a helpful video. I just had my surgery yesterday afternoon, 24hours. So far so good. Patience I can see will be number 1 priority!

Thank you Justin. I have my first post-surgery exam in two days. I believe my stitches will be removed during that exam. I am on an antibiotic through that appointment. I have some weird and sometimes salty flavors in my mouth. I suspect that infections continue to drain. I will ask my dentist about these smells and flavors. I have a blender and have been living on puree of food for months because of infections. I cannot swallow with my lower plate in my mouth yet because the swallowing action causes pain. My top plate fits great, and my bottom plate is getting better. My extractions and surgery was done 6 days ago.

Hey Justin. It’s very helpful to listen to your thoughts about this. I’m literally sitting in my truck just having my teeth extracted and GOT Covid on top of it. 😂😂😂 can you believe it? I’m trying really hard to stay positive but man did I get an ass kicking. I’m going to start watching your other videos and thanks again for your help and support

Hi Justin - I have watched a few of your videos, but subscribed tonight because you are a positive person. Monday, Sept. 26 is my Eday. I am having 8 lower teeth removed which is all I currently have. I will be getting my immediate on that day. I have to remember that you can't rush time. Healing takes time. I will be completely knocked out by choice. I have done some preparation as you suggested. I am also taking the week off from work. Wish me luck. It will be good to have the physical part over with soon.

I’m getting my extractions in a few weeks and I’m scared to death and you’re so right when you said it’s a short time of pain compared to the everyday pain we are in with our own teeth.. which btw I’m on antibiotics for an abscess now😢. I've watched many of your videos and you were the first one I watched that talked about immediate dentures. I'm in the UK and didn't realsie this was a thing. I'm 2 hours away, at the time of writing, from having my 5 lower front teeth extracted and then having both my dentures. I do have several teeth on my upper jaw so not too worried about them but I am concerned about my lowers as everyone says they are the hardest to keep in. As most of my lower gums are already settled from previous extractions I only have the front lower part to really worry about but you've given me the confidence to get through this. I'll let you know after how it went. Thanks for all your help 🙂

Thank you so much. My procedure is next week and I needed to hear some positive encouragement. I am going to make sure to stock up on all the types of foods that I need. I have started purchasing healthy baby foods that come in pouches. They come in many different flavors. I tried a couple and they taste pretty good. Bone broth and creamy soups are healthy and filling. Apple sauce and other fruit sauces are good too.

And I found that your videos have been very informative and gives a great perspective on what to expect during the process 🙏🏾 Thanks for sharing your experience and journey 💯🙏🏾 And thank God for insurance because this procedure is like buying a car cost wise because of the procedure package I chose. There's not much in life that hurts more than a toothache. Getting those teeth that are causing you agony should be enough motivation to get you through those rough days.

Had mine done today , I felt fine on the way home, but took them out to heal for as long as it takes. I just can’t stand that gauze gagging me and the teeth are shifting, I’ve been numb since 7.00 this morning, it’s 6:00 in the evening now and still numb!!!! But I’m not giving up. Thanks for the info!

I have my full extractions done next week, I have never been so excited for anything in my life, I understand it will take some getting used to, I also had to get used to eating every time a tooth broke, or hurt, so I honestly think this will be a cake walk compared to what I've dealt with with my teeth over the last 20 years, i'm fine with eating mush for a month or two if needed!

Which I Was NOT Aware of I Went into A HUGE ANXIETY ATTACK An clay went everywhere.. I WAS SO Calm till then New Dentures look GREAT!😁 Not going back .. been through enough Still wil Collect dentures an take dentist advice … no walk in the park I have been told!! Well, I had my extractions a week ago today. However I also had another procedure that is not something I recommend unless absolutely necessary, Mandibular Tori removal. Basically they peeled back the skin under my tongue in order to remove excess bone growth caused by teeth grinding. It had to be taken out so lower dentures could go in. Most painful thing ever and I've had two kids. I'm on soft foods. Mashed potatoes with sour cream and real bacon bits have been a really good meal I can just swallow easily. Drinking sweet tea for the tannic acid in the black tea. I had to get antibiotics a few days ago. Idk they just don't automatically prescribe them to you. Taking all the ibuprofen and previously hydrocodone has been tiring. I've been sleepy and light headed. Protein drinks aren't super great if you've got blood sugar issues. Had to take out the lowers as soon as I got home. Pain from the Tori removal was just too terrible to let me wear them. So they're still out. Uppers need some adjustments but aren't to bad. I was on two halcion and nitrous during the extraction and surgery. I fell asleep at one point. So, extractions weren't bad and if that was all I'd had done then I'd be fine by now.

How did you swallow your pain pill? I got immediate dentures today and can’t figure out how to swallow.

I got have 6 top back teeth out. Not going to bother with immediate denture going to wait till gum heal first.

Thank you! I just had my upper extraction three days ago. I don't feel any pain but I feel discomfort from the immediate denture. I feel like it is digging into my gum. I can eat but can't chew well with this denture. It is a pain to remove and put it back. I removed it last night after crying in discomfort and slept without it. It was a struggle to put it back in this morning. nTonight I'm sleeping with it and see if my gum will get used to it soon. I have an appointment in one week for a reline or adjustment but not sure if that is too early since my gum will continue to go down or something like that. How long before you went to see your dentist after the extractions? Did you get another denture after 4/6 months??

I couldn't imagine without anethesia. I had four under shots and destroyed my bone and infected. After two alveoplastys I'm still having main bone poking out. Oral surgeon not responding. Nerve damage and bones hurt bad three months:( Burning mouth aghhhh can't wear bottoms still. Top huge and sores in cheeks. Thanks for advice though.

I had my uppers pulled on Nov 10th. I got desolvable stitches too. I had to keep the dentures in the first night which wasn't to bad. Did you find yourself messing with the stitches alot with your tongue afterwards? I've been messing around so much that I made them tender. Had to go back in on day five, today, for them to trip the top gum down because it was creating a sore spot. My gums also have little lumps and white spots, not sure if you had that or not too. You are totally right about being patient, because watching my teens eat wings and regular food while I eat mashed tators is a pain in the buttocks. I try to come back to your videos for reassurance that Im not going to lose my mind with this mess but telling myself it's better than what I had before.

Sound advice. As a retiree living alone, would you say it would be possible to have a relative who lives close by to drive you to the dentist and home and would you be able to cope by yourself if prepared well and no complications after the surgery? In other words, I'd have my fridge full of stuff I can eat/drink ahead of time (I'm very independent). I'm hoping as long as I'm not totally groggy I could manage, and I know my sister or niece would check up on me without having to spend the night. They all work in my family. Just curious.

Had my extractions done on Thursday very frustrated because they were coming out same day . when I do get them in cant open mouth cause they fall out

Justin I smoke and drink socially and I just had a soft feline today. Is it ok to have an alcoholic drink or 2 and is it ok to smoke. They told me to keep them in for 24 hours. Please write back soon so I have an answer if I can go do those things or not.

My dentist is suggesting a med called halcyon for the surgery because I'll be awake. Total tooth removal and Tori, bone growth, removal in m lower jaw. They'll put in immediate dentures after and send me home. I'm thinking about stocking up on protein drinks and maybe yogurt. Will there be sensitivity to temperatures after surgery? And I think you said that I'll be on the protein drinks for two weeks? My dentist hasn't given me any papers for preparing. So I'm not happy about that and I'm worried if they'll be doing a good job. This all feels really traumatic tbh. I'm worried. It's a positive change and much needed but I'm still scared. Also I worry about the top palate thing making me gag.

I have a question...I have bone that sticks out it is about the size of my thumb on each side on the bottom and my dentist said they would have to grind them down so the dentures would fit. I'm terrified about healing time! I fell and broke my teeth below the gum and need to be cut out not pulled 😱

I am 4 days post op, I still can’t talk, have a horrible lisp, should I be getting past this part soon? Should I ask to have my upper horseshoed ?

I hate my temporary dentures! They are not nice at Aspen dental to me. She told me since my bottom dentures hurt I might have to go 6 months before I get another pair even though the first pair is supposed to be guaranteed? She's So mean I cried in there she told me to drink some water before I turn into getting hysterical. I don't know what to do? I go without any bottom dentures now. Feels like I have bones going out of the side of my gums now I don't know why?

I’m on my 3 week and ready to throw them in the garbage I can’t eat hard foods , I gag, and I really can’t taste anything

I had 6 uppers taken out. 2 stitch's. Immediate dentures, + 1 lower. I found that KFC chicken Nuggets & their potato & gravy were easy to munch up & swallow.

Hello Justin I received the reline it worked for a couple of days so now I am using fixodent denture cream that worked like a charm now they stay put all day
