Scott, dont know if you will ever read this but thank you so much. You're my favorite detailer on RU-vid even though you dont post anymore,. Your methods have been so helpful to me. I hope all is good with you and you're happy. Thanks again!!!!
I tried it to remove water spots on my back glass. It was the best thing I have ever tried. I spent a lot of money on water spot removal products and this method was the only thing that delivered real results. Thanks for sharing the information.
Hey Scott! Please ignore all the haters, you're doing a great job keep up the good work. Trust me, there's a reason you have 80k subscribers!! Your glass polishing method is great I'm gonna try it. God bless!
I saw this video several weeks ago and it was a nightmare to get the fitz and polishing ball, but I finally have it. I will try this myself today. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SCOTT!! All it is is passion coming from your videos, it's sad when people don't have it they tend to hate on those who do. Also it's so EASY TO FASTFORWARD if you don't have the patients. Can't wait for more videos brother! Please please please don't let the negativity hinder you from making more videos.
Thanks for the tip. The MSDS for Flitz metal polish shows that it contains 35% aluminum oxide. I've read that aluminum oxide is a cheaper product to polish stones/gems with in a rock tumbler. Cerium oxide (optic grade?) seems to be the go-to product for glass polishing.
I’ve worked in the optics polishing trade for nearly 40 years and you’re right. The preferred medium is rare Earth due to its molecular construction, especially on softer materials. Aluminium Oxide has a sharper construction but is also used for high grade optics (mainly infrared). 👍
Thanks for the tips Scott, I have a problem with neglected windshield that's marred with hard water spots. I've tried steel wool and chemicals and managed to clean most of them but the result is not as clean and shiny as I hoped and there are still some spots that simply won't budge especially ones located on the corners. So to recap and make it easier for me to remember, here's my summary on Scott's glass cleaning tips. If there's anything I miss, please let me know. Can't wait for the weekend to try this out. Materials needed: - Glass cleaner (regular spray type) - Clay bar - Flitz metal polish (paste type) - Flitz buff ball - Power drill - Microfiber towels Step by step to super clean exterior car glass, including hard water spots, fast and easy: 1. Spray glass cleaner onto glass 2. Spray glass cleaner onto claybar to lube it 3. Clay the glass 4. Wipe glass clean and dry with microfiber towel 5. Put small dabs of Flitz metal polish onto glass 6. Smear the dabs with your finger to even them out 7. Attach Flitz buff ball on your power drill 8. Buff the metal polish evenly across the glass (watch video to see how to buff sideways) 9. Once done, wipe the glass clean with dry microfiber towel 10. It's done, enjoy the shine Some thoughts: - I assume any fine metal polish will do since I live overseas and won't be able to get my hands on Flitz metal polish - I assume liquid type metal polish can be used as well - The buff ball is another thing I won't be able to get here, I think I'll try using available buff ball here which is a sponge buff ball.
Scott you are a genius,I learn a lot from your channel as beginner in detailing field and will start implement yours tips and tricks.thank you to share your knowledge
Thank you very much for this video. Brilliant advice. I've struggled to get my windscreen completely clean. Now I know a quick, easy and effective way to do it. Thanks again. 👍🙂
sir I just came across your videos and I LOVE them. explained perfect. I use to do other type of work But got injured and can no longer perform that type of work. I have always loved cleaning my vehicles that I have been looking at doing others and seeing if I can gather enough to keep me going. and your videos make it a bunch easier to offer things that I know are not available around this area. and even to do it better than anyone else. please keep up the great work and forget the ones that say to much talking. I hope my work turns out half as good as yours but being me I push for perfection and to always be better. thanks again and God bless.
This was incredibly helpful. I have been doing interior details and it is annoying when I kill myself getting the windows clean on the inside only to have them be stained on the outside (I would clean the outsides, but not polish). Now when they get in, they are impressed by how clean and clear the windshield looks and it doesn't cost me a lot of time.
In a world of sub-mediocre performers, it's so refreshing to hear someone talk about going the extra mile and over delivering. I read a little sign in an ice cream shop many years ago that said. "The way to have a happy customer is simply give them their money's worth" . Thanks for the tips.
Hey WOW ! I watch hours upon hours of RU-vid content when online. This window polish was next level.I observed as you started the polish, there was more clarity to see inside the vehicle and the other side as well. Thanks for walking us through and explaining the content at the risk of giving away business.Cheers from Australia.
Great video. I not long ago found out about your channel. Very informative, I've learned a lot. I'll be MORE THAN READY to detail my 1967 Chevelle SS when I get it
You keep doing it again Scott you're freaking awesome. I love ya bro. I have learn so much from you. You are a remarkable man sharing your tips and tricks from your profession.
I have been using Flitz on many different things including automotive, for a very long time, and I have never even heard of this. I tried it and my glass looks flawless. TYVM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks - I'd never heard of that polish. FWIW, cerium oxide paste works well even by hand. It is really meant for actual glass *correction* and is most certainly abrasive, but it doesn't leave visible scratches, IMHO. It can be bought as a powder and mixed with water, or as a ready made paste. I learnt about it from a professional glass polisher. Obviously when used by hand it's just a strong cleaner - it's not going to remove scratches.
Thank you Scott. I love the details you put into your videos. My wife hears me listening to your video's and says, "are you listening to Howard Stern again". LOL
Outstanding!!! I love learning tricks of the trade from Professionals who take Pride in their work. So many do just enough to get by. Thanks for the Video.
Your videos are very helpful, thanks... I came across some tips on removing hard water spots using bar keepers fiend and I will be trying them soon on my truck since I haven't had any luck removing them. Keep the videos coming for us the D.I.Y.
Hey, Scott! I love your videos. They have been a great help with my personal at home car washing! I’ve never washed as good as I have until watching your channel. I have a question. What’s the best way to get paint, mainly oil based paint, off your window glass?
Your videos are awesome. Thanks for making them. I was wondering how to clean the inside of the window if it has tint on it. If there are things you should never use.
Hi Scott. On my front glass it has alot of scratches from wash drive in. How do you take care of that? Is a glass replacement the only way? Thanks for sharing.
José Campos you can actually buy cutting pads, it looks like sand paper (because it pretty much is). And you can get some non-deep scratches out. Now I wouldn’t go into it without experience with polishing and wet sanding though. If you don’t know what you’re doing you can screw up the glass beyond repair, and you’ll need to buy new glass anyways.
Just got my truck back from being painted. And now when it rains my windshield wipers go back and forth I can see that film. Will that clay bar take care of it. I ordered one off eBay. Or will I have to polish the windshield. I just had the windshield replaced. And now it's nasty.
Hi Scott Thank you for this nice tip and demo. Question and request: would this product remove the small streaks / scratches on the side windows? Would you make a video clip on a window s with streaks and use the clay bar and Fliz please? Also How Fliz is on the paint of the car? Can it be used as a polisher for the faded areas of the paint? Please let me know. Thank you for all your help and efforts.
I do much of the same to get awesome results. What's your thoughts on using an aerosol glad cleaner instead of a spray. Sprayway (just the original blue can) makes an amazing glad cleaner, if you haven't tried it I'd love to get your feedback on it. You're the man!
thanks Kyle:)...i have used sprayway and i think it works well..i can make a video about it in the future..i do think as i get older and my hands are tired, i love aerosol products!..lol...thanks for the kind words my friend
Glass cleaner lol. I’ve been detailing for 4 years. Never used anything else on the inside unless I was removing old tint. Is there something specific you’re talking about gettin off the glass?
Like your video! I Windex my windows with newspaper first than I hand wax the windows with MOTHERS Carnauba cleaner wax an remove with a microfiber cloth. They look Crystal clear an the rain water, dirt & dust just blows right off no wipers needed! lol Try it sometime it takes me less than 30 minutes to do my whole Durango inside & out!
Watched the video, purchased the ball and product. It easily removed water stains from my windows. My ball was a bit linty. But hoping that goes away after wash.
For hard water spots on glass and paint I use a wheel acid or chrome spoke cleaner, Hydrophloric, and a soft bristled SM Arnold brush. Cool surface. Don't do in Sun. Shade or cover needed. I do a small area at a time. Half the windshield and rinse, half the hood and rinse, a fender and rinse, etc. Clear wheel acid. The hot shit for big boy detailers with balls. I always use my vehicle as a guinea pig in case something goes wrong.
Have you tried the rubbing compound and pumice soap mix and/or cerium oxide powder for glass polish and scratch removal? If so, what are your opinions on their application process and end results?
I bought a car from an elderly women's son. The man was older than my father but apparently the previous owner of the car passed away. They moved her car to their house where it sat for a few years until their son was old enough to drive and he didn't like the car. Well I bought it for $500 a 95 Regal with 91k miles care was in excellent condition with one exception.... The windshield... Water spots everywhere basically etched into the glass and there was never anything I could do to get them out. I tried claybar, rubbing compounds meant for paint, even "Bartenders friend" a polish meant for porcine (used with a scrubbing pad). None ever provided noticeable results and over the years I just gave up on it.
I'm no specialist and I could be wrong here.. but I suspect this guy is trying to overdeliver, stand out from the competition and he's not worried about the plastic trim.
The Chevy and Chrysler dealerships use fine #0000 steel wool in their detail Departments instead of clay. is steel wool just as good as claybar in your opinion?
yes steel wool is an option for many, I'm not a fan because they shed and you have little pieces of metal all over the place..i just stick to the clay bar
+BadRonald1 I'm a drummer and professional detailer and never thought of putting two and two to clean my cymbals lol now the question is what is the best clay to cymbals
What about glass that has some scratches on it, like a wiper blade that might have put some shallow scratches on the glass? Is there an option other than replacing the glass?
Worked in auto manufacturing and we would use a watered down polishing solution on special vehicles that were going to the auto show, put it on and let dry and wipe it off.
Awsome video. And great advice. Its great how you break it down and cut through all the technical stuff and keep it simple. With common products a lot of time and common scence easy ways of getting professional results. Keep up the good work.... Any advice on the interior glass?
I usually also roll the windows down a few inches and clean off the buildup on the top edge of the glass too. Don't want the glass to be super clean and then they roll the windows down and see the crusty line on the top. Over deliver..😊
I’m the One percent that wants a rayon pad and glass polish. That is why I do so on my own vehicles. I’m Very particular on my glass. But I agree most would are not nearly as concerned.
Hello Scott , nice tips . But I have scrape marks because of dust that was stuck between the glass and the felt every time the glass was moved up and down . Could you let me know how to correct that .
Yeah but the bugs in my teeth! Luckily I'm bald so they don't get in my hair. OK yeah I have flattened bug on my scalp but they wash off pretty easy with glass cleaner and clay! And man the shine!
No. The inside is not exposed to harsh environments and debris and chemicals etc. like the outside is. Glass cleaner should be more than enough on the inside. And don’t forget tint is on the inside as well, so use a compatible cleaner
