I added another Titan wall mounted pulley tower to my setup to create a cable crossover. In this video, I do an unboxing and walk you through the assembly.

Enjoyed the video. Considering one of these for my gym, so I'll have to see how it turns out for you when you start using it.

Thanks! I used them both today for the first time in a cable crossover configuration. I plan to post a comparison next week most likely.

Thank you for the video. It's much appreciated. Comments / questions on the pulleys. What prompted you to want to lubricate the bearings? Is it listed in the instructions? I am not an expert in bearings or gym equipment, but here a couple disorganized thoughts. Some bearings are packed with grease and use a sealed race. In general these bearings are not meant to be serviceable. They do not free spin for long periods of time because of the drag created by the viscosity of the grease. However they are very smooth and would seem most appropriate for this application. There are other bearings that require oil or a dry lubricant. I don't think that is optimal for this application. I like how you sorted the bearings out so we could see them. It looked like they are using whatever bearings they can get their hands on, most likely because of supply constraints. Typically you would design the machine to use the same bearing in every pulley to keep costs down. Can you tell if any of the bearings were greased? It didn't seem so. If I buy this unit, I might just order sealed bearings and swap them all out when I install the machine. Any chance you can tell us what size the bearings are? Thanks again for the review. It's very helpful. I'll share it when appropriate.

That's an interesting point about greased ball bearings. Someone else mentioned something similar. I've been meaning to disect the pulleys to see exactly how they are constructed. When I reached out to Titan customer service, they indicated that the lubricant I was using was the same they recommended. Despite the pulley issue, the pulley tower still works fine. I use it all the time. It's just that I do think they are the weakest components in the machine. I appreciate your insight!👍

Thanks for a great review! Like most garage gym owners, I'm limited for space. I have a heating duct running alongside the stud where I would mount this unit. So, no clearance issues for the 25" required at the base but I'm very limited for space at the top of the unit. The very top of the unit looks to be shaped a bit like a "T". How wide is that at the widest point?

Great video! Definitely helped me with assembly for mine. How did you mount it onto the wall? I don't think mine came with wall mounting screws and washers.

I'm not sure if this is standard now, but I just got the short v3 and all 13 pulleys were of the all metal design (inner part, outer is still plastic) and spinned very freely. I did have to sand down one of the plastic end caps which was bowed out and preventing one from spinning.

If that's the case that's great news! Thanks for sharing 👍

Very helpful video! Did you make a video showing how you installed it in the wall? I am thinking of getting it for my garage gym but I am worried about the lower mounting bracket as I have tall baseboards so it might not fit, would it be sufficient to just mount it with the upper mounting bracket? Thanks
@DiscoveringStrength
@DiscoveringStrength 2 года назад
No, I don't think I ever did a video showing how I mounted it to my wall... maybe a good idea for another video.😊 However, I had a similar issue where I mounted the bottom to my baseboard and then used a small wood Bloch as a spacer on the top bracket to ensure it sat flush with the bottom. It will depend on the thickness of your baseboard. I would mount the bottom then measure the gap on the top. Get a piece of wood to fill the gap and mount the top bracket. Hope that helps!

Is this pretty good for lower-body exercises? I’m wondering if I can pull my bench up to it and do leg extensions or hamstring curls. Thanks!
@DiscoveringStrength
@DiscoveringStrength 2 года назад
Yeah it's great for leg extensions and hamstring curls. They're a regular part of my routine. It does kind of depend on your bench though for leg extensions. If your bench is kind of low to the ground it can affect the range of movement. I tend to use my incline bench because it sits a little higher.

I have a question. Can you bench comfortably or squat on the side the Pulley tower V3 is stationed? I want to set one up on each side potentially but don't want to loose my ability to use bench on that side of the rack.
@DiscoveringStrength
@DiscoveringStrength 2 года назад
That is the challenge if you mount it to the side of your rack. You lose the ability to bench and squat comfortably inside the rack. I ended up removing mine from my rack and attaching it to the wall to give me more space and to be able to work inside the rack. Hope that helps!👍

Hey Greg. When you get a chance, would you mind replying with a link to your video where you run the cables? (Can’t seem to find it). The link never showed up for me while watching this video. Put together my tall V3 and lubed the pulleys yesterday. Running the cables today, hopefully. Thank you!

Thanks so much, Greg! The instructions are indeed horrendous (but actually not as bad as the Rogue wall mounted squat rack!) but I was surprised how easy it was to put together actually. Companies need to stop with the instruction manual and just provide links to methodical, step-by-step videos from now on. I swear! Thanks man : )

As an ex-Rollerblade engineer, a metal shield is not better than a metal shield on the bearing. And if you want a fairer spin, hold the pulley vertically as it will be mounted. Good review thanks,.

Thinking about getting this for my home gym but is it as affective as a commercial gym one. I say this because the pulley system look super closer compared to the ones in the gym that are spread apart more.
@DiscoveringStrength
@DiscoveringStrength 2 года назад
So yes I think that it is just as effective as a commercial machine. It is not the same as a cable crossover because the handles are not suffiently spaced out. However, I purchased a second one and mounted them on either of my walls creating my own cable crossover. It works great!!

I found with heavier weights, the plastic guide inside of my plate holder comes out and interrupts my lifts.

Hmm...I've found that the plastic along the front guide rail can separate when I adjust the position. However I haven't had that problem you describe. I'd maybe contact Titan customer service 👍

No problems at all as long as you use the same version. There's a difference in the hole placement on the tall and short versions.👍

How did you bolt it to the wall?
@DiscoveringStrength
@DiscoveringStrength 2 года назад
So it depends on what type of wall you have (attaching to a wood stud, cement wall, drywall, etc.). I've attached mine to a cement wall in which case I used cement anchors. I've also attached another one to drywall (not a stud) using toggle bolt drywall anchors. Hope that helps👍

What happens if it’s not mounted
@DiscoveringStrength

It would probably move around on you. It would likely still be functional since the weight moves vertically. Having it mounted I haven't noticed that it pulls much from the wall. Hope that helps👍

@@DiscoveringStrength good evening your video was awesome. My wife and I had the same question. We put ours up yesterday but we haven’t mounted on the wall. I was thinking about hiring someone to put on my wall because I am scared to do it. But I wanted to know do you have a video of you mounting your on the wall so I can see how easy it is or do I need to spend money and get someone to do it for me.
@DiscoveringStrength
@DiscoveringStrength 2 года назад
@@larenzoseals3355 you know it's pretty easy. I haven't made a video on that. Mounting depends on what kind of wall you have. If a wood stud, just use wood screws with washers. I have one cement wall so I used cement anchors. If it doesn't work to mount to a stud, you could also mount to dry wall. Use drywall anchors for that. Hope that helps!

I know this is an old comment but I assembled mine yesterday and tested it before attaching it to one of my power racks and it quickly tipped backwards (it didn't take much force for me to stop it from tipping though). If you used dummbells/plates to weigh down the bottom is may stay stable.
