The saddest part of this scene is realizing that BT is glitching out but is telling you that he's ran the calculation and that a throw is the only option.
@@left4deadbyeric Not to mention he intentionally obfuscated Protocol 3 on the HUD and when Cooper said "Don't worry BT, I'm not goin' anywhere" BT only replied with "Copy that, Pilot." He didn't want Jack to know until the last second what his intentions were in case Cooper tried to stop him.
One of the hardest stuff I had to do as a gamer ....every time ...every fuking time " protocol 3 protect the pilot " ..tears without a second pf hesitation
I've never actually seen a normal playthrough where anyone has ever selected, "We got a way out of this one, BT?" Which means that the campaign has done it's job, built an emotional connection, and every player is always ready to die with BT, but he just won't let us 😢
In the multiplayer mode right before you eject and self destruct you get a second to see but on your titan’s HUD it’ll say “Protocol 3” or “Stay Safe” and “Protect The Pilot”
The Iron Giant is even more heartbreaking when you know the story behind its making. The director pitched the movie as a tribute to his sister who was shot dead by her husband. His pitch was "what if a gun had a soul, and didn't want to be a gun?"
I showed this scene from tiktok to my girlfriend and I cried like a bitch. It just got to me suddenly. Warmachine trained to kill and serve just sacrifices itself to save a human life
Almost 7 years after I played this game and I finnaly realized how smart the ending is. Almost directly after the arc short circuts BT, hes analyzing the best course of action to complete all 3 protocols. Protocol 1: link to pilot. A few seconds past after he gits bit by the arc and he restablished the link between pilot and titan. Protocol 2: uphold the mission. We hear him saying random nonsense, stuff about "my analysis indicates that a throw is our only option here", but he is actually thinking of every possible way to finish the mission. The throwing part, well.. Protocol 3: protect the pilot. Grabbing us out of the chasis to then throw us out of the impact, towards the locstion BT send to Briggs. Bt is a legend.
He probably ran the numbers like Dr. Strange did in Infinity War, dilating time to run infinite scenarios through his AI, and each win was this one. It realized their friends were the difference maker here, and a sentient life doesn't make this decision lightly.
He’s a mercenary through and through. We can see Marder paying him just before the fight with Slone. The Apex Predators don’t care about the Militia or IMC, they’d fight for whichever side is offering the most money. Blisk could have killed Cooper and BT then and there, but had nothing to gain from it since his business with Marder was already finished. He also seems pretty professional for a mercenary, since instead of seeking revenge for his comrades, he grew to respect Cooper for his skills. Enough to invite him into the Apex Predators, not force him or conscript him, but give him the option as he has the skill set they’re looking for. Come to think of it, Blisk is a severely underrated gaming antagonist.
@@ShawndaPrawn I really like the concept of him just 100% being an unwavering professional mercenary. Usually there's some sort of motive even if it's a small one for mercenaries to do what they do but not him. He just wants to get paid.
When BT is glitching out he is saying that a throw is the only option however his protocols haven't started loading yet. You can see this when BT only moves to the fold weapon when protocol 2 begins to load. This could mean that BT was already planning to sacrifice himself for cooper independent of his directives.
"I will not be destroyed by some pitiful excuse of a pilot!" *Continues to stand inside of the thermite while firing a laser core at nothing, all while on death's edge.*
0:52 jeez, from that moment BT already had it planned also sending coordinates at 2:39 because he had planned where he would throw cooper protocol 3 indeed
I’m quite late, as I just finished the game yesterday, but holy shit that was good. I had heard “protect the pilot” associated with sadness before playing, but I didn’t expect it to hurt so much. At first, I thought BT was going to die protecting the ark, then I was relieved, and by the time of this scene, I was basically in tears. Beautiful game. ALSO WHY DID HE HAVE TO DO THE THROWING HAND GESTURE!
Just finished the game for the first time myself. I also heard "protocol 3: protect the pilot" before, but by the time I started playing I kind of forgot about it. Then this scene came and hit me like a truck. I dont understand why is it so emotional. There were much "sadder" deaths of much more fleshed out characters, so how does this hit just right when he says the line. Jesus Christ, what a masterpiece of a game.
@@Crispy1961 I just finished the game as well, and I went in completely blind. I've never been one to get emotional over a fictional character, but this scene, just like with you, hit me like a truck. My only complaint about the campaign is that it's just too short, although I'd much rather have a 5 hour long masterpiece than a 60 hour slog.
@@zackjones8802 I still come back to this video from time to time. It just hits differently. You are absolutely right. I would love more. But to their defense, its not that the campaign is short, its the fact that the game is incredibly fast paced. Still the same result though. And as you said, better have masterful 5 hour story mode, than 60 hours open world with empty map.
It's clearly stated during the campaign. Apex Predators are a mercenary pilot faction working for the highest bidder, with Blisk being the "head man" of the Predators. In MP you can chose to "work" for them. It's only fluff and changes the dropship animation + voice lines, but still nice.
I was in so much shock when I saw that, I wanted to sit down and process what I saw, but there was no time, I didnt want his sacrifice to be in vain, so I ran as fast as I could to the rendezvous point, and only after I got in the ship did I break down and start to mourn his loss
titanfall 3 isn't dead. what *was* titanfall 3 became legends, but they've since confirmed that they plan to release a full titanfall experience in the next 2 years.
Apex Games take place in a similar parallel universe where the Frontier War ended much sooner then in Titanfall. One of the Legends is from the Titanfall universe (the one who phases and can make little portals you can travel through)
BT isn't alive anymore. Literally the only game that almost made me cry. The game makes you emotional unlike any other. In multiplayer, if you eject you can see the words "Avenge me" before you're in the air. It's really sad...
@@iosfrostscope BT isn't really dead. There's two theories: 1) BT survived that explosion by uploading his AI in Jack's helmet (watch the after credits scene) 2) BT travelled in time (during the Effect and Cause mission BT says that he detects his own signatures, also the Ark destabilizes time)
Bt is calm and calculated. His pilot died and transfered the pilot status and control of the robot over to jack. Jack was aspiring to become a titan pilot. So this was his first time being one. These types of titans have personalities and it helps them link to the pilot mentally. The robot has 3 protocols. Link to the pilot. Complete the mission. Protect the pilot. They were tight.
i really recommend you to play this game, if not, you jist need to know, for everyone who played this game, BT its the most pure soul in this universe (besides of pathfinder)
I might be reading too far into this but I noticed that BT is telling you a throw is the only option and that's run the calculation BEFORE he reboots. He's trusting Cooper with a throw before he has enough computing power to know that for sure. I don't think those "calculations" are any actual math, they're just the time he's spent with Cooper. A robot trusts Cooper more than he would trust his own math. BT's faith in Cooper is stronger than the calculations he hasn't even done yet.
BT sent his data to cooper's helmet where at the end it shows his helmet blinking in morse code spelling, hello Jack, maybe bt will be back if part 3 happens
