Men are just not worth that much to society. We're not actually getting two different pay rates at the same job. It's just an average when you put together people as a whole.

It comes from British Soldiers being ordered to save women and children on a sinking ship. This was sometime back in 1850. If I remember correctly they were ordered to man the water pumps and the tackles to lower the boats into the sea for women and children that was also on the ship. I'm sure this had been done over and over again before this incident but for one major detail. The ship broke in half after 20 minutes/30 minutes and at this point the remaining men heard the ships Captain yell for people to save themselves. The Soldiers however, were stopped from doing so by their commanding officers and ordered back into formation since the risk of overcrowding the small boats holding the women and children(and some men that had been pulled from the sea already etc) So they stood in silence until the last part of the ship went down under their feet. But in general, men have and to some degree still do, see this as a matter of honour, chivalry if you like.

People forget that we're only about 100 years removed from constant struggles just to stay alive. As far as our evolutionary biology and instincts go, that's like zero time passing. We inherit the instincts to protect women and children to help preserve our species.

If a guy tried to jump in a lifeboat if a boat sinks, he'd probably get thrown overboard or shot. It's always women and children first. Couple dollar surcharge seems pretty reasonable 😀

Women and children first has to do with keeping future generations alive. Since men can't have children they are considered expendable in that situation. Probably something that was much more important when the worlds population was less, but still something that's practiced today.

Your other Bill Burr vids were pretty good. This one seemed pretty difficult for you guys to get through. The marriage thing seemed to be the first speedbump (stereotypically, most men don’t care about marriage, except that they want to please their wife. Otherwise, they’d probably be fine with a quick meeting with the Justice Of The Peace). Second, given the comment about “dads leave first because the kids are with the mom”, in many cases where this is true (not all, of course), you’d likely find that dads absolutely want to be part of the kids life, but are unable to (because men stereotypically have to “provide”), or they’ve been denied access (often by a bitter partner who uses the child to punish the male parent - again, stereotypically, not for all situations). Seeing this video after your other Bill Burr reactions is a little jarring, to be honest

Men stayed behind to keep the boat from sinking for as long as possible, because they are physically superior, and could handle the workload while women could not. They sacrificed their lives so that women, who are able to create new life and keep the species going, could live on. As to how they would do that without men to provide the final ingredient is another matter, but when you're on a sinking boat, you're not thinking too far ahead. The primal reason for why women and children get to be saved and men stay behind has nothing to do with weakness, strength, or vulnerabilities. At a primal level, it's about keeping the species alive. Self(human kind) preservation. Women birth children so if you save women and children. Lets say the ratio of males to females is 4W to 1M It wouldn't take but so long to recover from the loss of men. Flip it to save men and children. The ratio is 4M to 1W. The species will recover but at a slower rate because men can't have birth.

It's been normalized during the middle ages, in france we had an expression about the knight who saves the widow and the orphans, but I'm sure you could find those behaviors much earlier, linked to the survival of our species.

But women have priority because you can 'replenish' a village back with multiple women and a few men but not the reverse. Herr in Austria we something called apprenticeship (means your learn your job and get approved you know the essentials about it) most are paid differently, according to how much profit you can make out of the profession. The 5 best paid apprenticeships are picked by boys (around 90-95% of all are boys) the worst paid are picked by girls (95-99% of all) and therefor you know why the average woman earns less than the average man. Nope, because of survival, and it's been like that for thousands of years. In a calamity, women and children are protected so that lineage and species can continue to exist. The reason for the role of protector and provider falls on men is because of biology.

When disasters like titanic or recent one like war between certain countries in europe strikes and death is almost inevitable, men for some odd biological reasons are hard wired to protect their women and children and give them any possible chance of survival and die in the process if they have to. The key word there is THEIR women. On titanic for example, men decided to stay because they had wives and children with them and they were responsible for them so it wasnt a decision about who is more capable of survival, it was a decision about who is to die and everyone naturally decided it was men starting with the captain who was responsible for his ship. The musical staff were playing till the end, thats the true meaning of masculinity and responsibilities. Practically speaking men are biologically most capable of our species so they should be the ones to protecting themselves but men die all the time saving kids, women, old people and even pets, thats what being the protector means which is the natural instinct of masculine men just like its a natural instinct for a woman to become a savage to protect her children. Society becomes dangerous when men become more feminine and dont have anything to protect but themselves. I think the meaning of that joke is, if titanic sank today, western men might demand 50% of their seats in the life boat. There are still some men who will happily stay and die but trust me, there are more than 50% who will fight for equality and that ironically will be an unfair fight.

Most women simply can't do these jobs because of the biological differences between men and women. Firefighters, construction workers, oil rig workers, high sea fishermen. Most of these jobs are well payed. 2) This is not so much a thing in the USA but it is a reason in Europe: Parental leave. Let's have a look at my home country, Germany. Both parents can take up to three years of parental leave. They cannot be fired during this time and the employer has to give them their job back. However - in the vast majority of cases the couples decide that the mother takes a longer break while the fathers only take a few weeks or maybe months off after the birth of the child. The thing is that wages freeze while you're on leave, and - even more important - you don't get promotions while you're on leave. Even if the parents had identical incomes this means that it is likely that the man will earn more eventually. 3) There have been several studies that show that women don't negotiate for higher wages in job interviews like men do. They are far more likely to simply accept the compensation offered by the employer. There are more reasons, but these examples already show why these statistcs used by the so-called feminists are flawed and not fit for purpose. The existing wage gap has a multitude of reasons - misoginy is not among them (maybe in a tiny fracture of individual cases, but not on a systemic level).
