Welcome to the channel! LINKS BELOW!
In this video, we cover replacing the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder on a TJ Wrangler. Then we go over bleeding the system when there is no bleeder on the slave cylinder. It's time consuming... but easier than you'd think.

Thank You for an excellent tutorial! I just finished replacing my clutch master and bleeding of the system and I’m glad I did. Whoever replaced the slave cylinder left the tywrap on the end of the cylinder and it was just floating around at the connecting point. Your video was spot on, thank you again!

Great video, very helpful, thank you! Question: does that slave cylinder not have a bleed valve on it? I’m just changing the master cylinder and wonder whether I actually need to remove the slave in order to bleed the line through the master reservoir as you did in your video? Thanks in advance!

No bleeder on most of them that I've seen. It's a pain. Lol. Thanks for watching and good luck!

Yeah I don't have much control over that. Monetized or not, YT still puts ads on everything. Thanks for watching

my gears are starting to grind on my OM617 converted TJ. Supposedly the trans is rebuilt. Start with replacing the master/slave??

I'd say it would be a good place to start. Could try bleeding it first before replacing it.

How do u get the slave back on the bellowing once the push rod has Ben extended. Also would air trappein the master cause the clutch to no go in to gear once the engine is running ? It goes in while not running just fine but once I start the truck it won't go in to any of the gears ! Could that be air in the hydrolic syseltem ?

You have to push the rod back down. With that said, yes air in the system will cause the clutch to not release.

question, 01 tj se 2.5l. so my clutch is kind of wonky ever since the other day (about 3 weeks since I got a regear to 4.88s and a lsd put in). When I push the clutch in it feels like it goes down 4 inches and hits the floor. i can take my pinky and basically push it down about 3 inches. when I look to where the clutch piece is going though the firewall there's what seems to be a brown kind of sludge. do you think its like air in the lines of it or just replace the master and slave, bleed it out yada yada. Vecna has about 138k owned for about 2 years don't really know what was done maintenance wise before ownership, let alone even know there was a bleeder for the clutch.

Sounds like the clutch master cylinder is leaking. I'd replace the master/slave before it gets enough air in the system to prevent the clutch from releasing. Likely doesn't have anything to do with the gear change.

@@NotSoGrandGarage thank you thank you thank you, I thought I was going to end up having to do the whole clutch.

Certainly sounds hydraulic to me. I'd get one of the pre-bled kits and swap it out. It's pretty straightforward

Ah yes... cause brakes aren't a thing and it's a 4.0 on 33s with stock gearing... it won't take off on flat ground without liberal application of the throttle... but hey... good on ya for pointing it out. Safety first... ish.
