His views are heavily rooted in tournament experience and playing against top players a lot. I have watched Knee, CDP, SupaSupa etc. play Heihachi and after a while it gets exhausting having to move, punish and fish for counter hit opportunities which are hard to get against opponents of their caliber.

Heihachi is bottom to JDCR because of those little options. Sure, they may be strong options. But the fact that they have been a part of heihachi’s arsenal forever and they aren’t god tier level moves, people know the little threats he has. It’s easy to deal with in professional play which is why you never see a heihachi in top 16

in a vacuum hei is good. but in the context of high level play, it’s really hard to open people up w/ solid defense; all you literally have is a generic d4. lars has the same problem but worse. i agree with tmm objectively, but agree with jdcr practically.

I don’t think JDCR actually put Heihachi in bottom 5 in this video. He mentioned that he’s not very good in this discussion, but in previous vids he very much states that Hei is a solid character, even going as far as saying that the electric buff benefits him the most out of the three Mishimas. Not once in this video does he explicitly state that Hei is bottom 5.

I think you shouldn't take that video too seriously. He got asked questions mid-match and just kind of started saying things off the top of his head. He didn't really think about the things that he said and just started rambling because he was focusing on the match. Just speculation though, I might be wrong.

Jdcr is talking about how Heihachi performs facing a very good player, not a button mashing player on ranked. In those situations Hei is arguably your worst pick considering effort/results. Not mattering his strengths, his weaknesses are too much of a problem in Tekken 7 status.

How does someone practice movement? Like how do you get good at moving in Tekken 7?

Interesting discussion. Out of all the characters mentioned, I think Hei being bad is debatable enough. Some nerfs we got in S3 are not deserved, and the new DLC characters can do everything quite well, which to me is uninteresting.

In the beginning, Jdcr was saying the armor kings combo didnt lead to a wall combo FOLLOWED by a mix up due to low wall carry or the throw ender in exchange for damage. Fahks combo has huge damage, wouldve carried to the wall for wall combo and would ALSO give him a wall mixup that is one of the greatest in the game

Heihachi is actual garbage, if you look at his tools in a vacuum then they look good. But Heihachi is reliant on your opponent playing straight up. If the opponent just holds back and plays with ultra safe pokes heihachi can't do a single thing. Like yeah compared to Miguel heihachi has some really good moves, but those never hit and everytime you hit your opponent as hei it's litterally their fault. Heihachi looks good, but if you start thinking about it from a game theory perspective, the risk reward of the character is so screwed up against him.

as a frequent viewer of JDCR and being able to speak Korean and understand it's nuances, I get the feeling that JDCR wasn't talking about how strong these characters are in a tournament context. I think he's talking about characters in general across all skill levels. Besides, he's said on multiple occasions before that he's not that interested in Tier lists, and doesn't really think about character rankings. He also has issues with Season 3 getting balance patches too frequently.

Well, here it is better to listen to the opinion of people who understand how the KITS of the characters work. I, for example, wondered why the heck the Hwoarang "SKYROCKET" was a MID instead of a HIGH, and then I realized that that move would be worthless being a HIGH and that it would ruin the KIT by taking out that MID option. JDCR does not give a good opinion of the total number of characters and rather speaks of the few that he knows well, it seems to me that he gave him tunnel vision and that he was not able to analyze correctly enough to be able to talk about the 5 worst competitive characters of tekken, and that he rather knows the weaknesses of his characters so much that he was not able to compare them with that of others.

80 dmg with Armor King isn't a staple combo. You must do dark upper and dark lariat...isn't that easy do.

I guess JD is emphasizing Hei's lows because they're essential in tournaments. All the characters that are played in tournaments have great lows. Casing point, Alisa.

jdcr did not placed heihachi at bottom 5. jdcr just answered a question and told hei is not good. But he did not put hei at bottom 5. later on jdcr changed his mind and told AK is better than eddy.

Im glad people think miguel is bad. Cuz then they leave him to me :). But seriously miguel is not a bad character. people talk about Fahkumram’s dmg and wall carry but miguel has even better combos and wall carry. And when mainman talks about his nerfs from season 2 to 3 i dont think he is weaker now. Svg df2 was nerfed justifiably because his mid low mixup with that was absurd from svg. But in compensation he got a huge buff for svg 2, his svg db3 got buffed in the mini patch that came out later (and should i remind you its pretty much a homing 23 dmg low that is +4 on hit and hits grounded) his rage drive finally got fixed, df1 got buffed and also svg 1,4. Miguel is not the best character right now but i think he is definitely a solid one. (Oh yeah and heihachi still has his version of miguel’s svg df2 and they haven’t nerfed it yet for some reason)

I've played a lot of Miguel because I heard he was a good beginner character, which I would agree with, then I just ended up really enjoying his style. I never really get punished on his SAV df2 even after the nerf so that's okay but the nerf to his magic 4 and SAV db3 really stung. Standing 4 had only just been buffed in season 2 and it in no way made him OP or detracted from his up close play style. As for SAV db3, it's not like it was abusable like Draganov's d2 with the up cancel, you have to be in stance to do it.

One thing I hate hearing from TMM is "oh but he has this move, it's good, if x has this tool, then no one else would be playable" or something along those lines. That's the problem with some characters, they have those good moves he's pointing out, but no reliable way to access them. Especially with the argument about Heihachi, he has amazing mids, sure, but if his kit involves all mids, then doesn't that mean every member of the cast naturally counters him since all they need to do is hold back and wait for a good time, meanwhile Heihachi has to try to take frame advantages because his kit involves mostly mids? I really don't get why TMM keeps replying with moves that are obviously good, that everyone knows they're good, including JDCR most likely, and end up missing the point of the character's problems.

I don’t think anyone in the Majin Clan asked for better pokes for Yoshi since season 2 🤷🏾‍♂️. Better unblockable damage would be nice, or any other random buff, but he’s been sitting mid tier for a while. That’s satisfactory.

Fahkumram hitbox is weird, i once was playing against him with bryan but my qcb2,4 which both hits are natural combo on hit but the second hit just whiffed for some reason

Eliza is pretty bad too. Terrible frames no rage drive. Shes got 2 good moves overall. Hop kicks and dark waves

Like, even mentioning Heihachi and Armor King in the worst characters context is, like, weird. They are no "ants amongst gods", and there are characters like Yoshi, Lei, Anna, that absolutely are ants amongst gods, both online and in tournaments, there is Lucky Chloe, which is just an unfinished character, and besides 70% health Cali roll she doesn't have much else, and there is Gigas of course. Eddy - maybe, but he is a tournament staple character for representing the gimmick characters. Bears - maybe. Armor King - just no.

Bullshit dude.The bag of tricks is good to have sure but comparing Kazuya or kazumi with characters like eddy Yoshi and kazumi is pretty fucking bold.You get + frames or knockdown to apply mixup with those characters which is way less riskier because even though the opponent knows the mixups they have to either eat it or do something character specific.While in eddy lei or Yoshi case you don't get + frames you don't get good punish and your punish is actually a mixup than a guaranteed high damage+high frames or damage + KD + oki.Which is bullshit.Don't get me wrong until really high level these characters are annoying as fuck but in high level your gameplay should show character specific knowledge and when it does do that these characters become comparable to gigas.They have bags of tricks which has answers that your opponent knows.So they become useless.Look at zafina for example she has as many or maybe even more tricks than the gimmick chars listed but she also has better movement,better frames and better fucking reach than every single one of them.I mean can we have something close to that as gimmick chars?Thats all we want.We don't want or expect +4 fucking f4 of Heihachi but at least good reach 0 to -3 df1s or some sort of good punishment which give some decent damage and other stuff ?We are not asking for crazy Heihachi highs or mids for fucks sake we want decent pokes which reset to at least fucking neutral after check without holes in strings and such.I mean lets look at razor rush leis ultimate move.Its first 2 hits are safe but very - if you don't go to stance and if you go to stance on block you are dead,3rd and 4th hit only hit if you manage to out play your opponent and your reward is not a guaranteed good damage for outplaying your opponent it is a mixup of panther or tiger.These mixups btw are not safe nor very rewarding.Panther 2 is a good almost safe at -10 mid launcher but 1,2 is launch punishable on block and i even think it can be punished with neutral hopkick for crazy damage while the reward is fucking hellsweep damage without the okizeme.Lets talk about tiger 2,2 is a very hard hit confirm mid high launcher which doesn't jail and gives relatively small combo with most of the time below 60 damage unless you have wall or crazy execution and i mean crazy.Tiger 4 is a 15 frame snakedge with high damage.Now you have %50s from these stances which are interruptable with dickjabs and the mixups themselves are worse than kazuyas mixups because in panther you get 10 frame punish for mid and launched with neutral hopkick for low in tiger you get ws punished for mid if you don't manage to hit confirm tiger 2,2 and even if you fucking do it is still -14 with some delay so you will eat most probably a 10 frame punish against someone who knows the matchup even if you are capable of doing hard hit confirm and if you don't hit confirm you get ws launched.Tiger 4 just like other snakedges ws punishable and all characters have enough time to do jump attacks to lowcrush also your 2,2 on an airborne character doesn't always give combo because second hit tends to whiff.Lets analyze the Kazuya.You have 10-12 and 15 frame easy mode knockdown punishes with decent if not top tier damage.You have 14 frame high launch if you have execution for it and in knockdown cases you get a four way mixup between hs , ff3 and ws2 if you have execution if not ws 3 as homing to catch ss left and if they stay down you get ff4.ff3 and ws 3 are safe on block hellsweep is neither reactable nor interauptable within safety ff4 is also relatively safe in kd cases even on whiff with most of the time only getting 10 frame punishes and also if you guess correctly and win the mixup you get another one right after.With lei you don't get another mixup when you win the mixup itself is interruptable unless you have rage on tiger.Also we have to consider Kazuya is not top tier and top tiers have even more ridiculous things while lei is the second strongest gimmick char in the game after zafina.Don't get me wrong zafina is busted but gimmick chars need some frame help at least to maintain fucking neutral atm

Miguel's 1 jab and df+1 doesn't even have poor reach. It's been tested and his reach is actually extremely average even when you take out the weird large body outliers in Tekken like Gigas and Jack. If you don't believe me test it for yourself now that we have actual ways to measure distance in practice mode now. Magic 4 nerf isn't a big deal, the combo we have is still pretty alright and I'm fairly sure it was what was intended in Season 2 considering they showed the f+4,2 combo starter in the Season trailer. Plus Miguel has b+1 which is good, aside from it being short ranged and towards his weak side. SAV df2 got rightfully nerfed, only thing I would say is now it shouldn't be launch punishable anymore, otherwise it's still a good move to throw out if you're opponent doesn't launch it... SAV db3 not force crouching hurts and really makes Miguel's offence a lot less simple since now the opponent has much more options to work with, but now Miguel can high crush against retaliations which sort of opens up to making SAV df2 useful after a SAV db3 since the opponent can't use an i11 mid anymore to check him. I definitely think Miguel is nowhere near bottom 5, but he's nowhere near top 10 with all of these amazing characters we have nowadays.

I think you misinterpreted a lot of stuff he said in his videos particularly his points regarding heihachi. Probably due to cultural differences and stuff getting lost in translation.

I think I see why JDCR lumped Heihachi and AK with the worst. Now this is just speculatory from the words he used, but I think it's because he lumps them just between 2 columns, good and bad, nothing in between. One man's opinion.

I have no doubt that if JDCR sat down and took his time to make a tier list while examining a complete list of all the characters in the game, JDCR would have vastly different final opinions. But he's just having a chat with stream and saying stuff offhand while playing matches. When TMM brought up Lars and Claudio, I was just thinking "I'm pretty sure JDCR forgot those characters existed." Hell, he was in the middle of a match WITH a Kuma before remembering Panda was also a bad character.

I do think armor king is bottom five IN TOURNAMENT SETTING. Online his is great but the higher and higher you get in rank the less effective his two biggest strengths ( throws and whiff punishment) becomes. Then you have to rely more on his standard punishment, mids and highs, and plus frames which are all average to slightly below average

Fahk is most definitely not as bad as pre-patch Leroy. For the most part in a match with fahk it feels pretty normal. There are instances where something whiffs and you’re thinking “wait did he just sidestep or something what the hell was that” but out of the three rounds you can finish a game against him and think the player played well without getting salty. Leroy however felt like the game was busted the entire time during the match to the point I recall I was leaving some Leroy players after one game. I usually run ft3 no matter what but I was just so frustrating back then that I couldn’t do it. Fahk is broken and needs fixing and I’m glad he’s banned in tournaments but he most certainly isn’t as bad as Leroy.

Eddy has tricks but they are useless in pro level of tekken because you want a trick that works even at the pro level but thats not the case with eddy he dosnt have pokes and good frames and his bag of tricks are trash at high level but look at king he dosnt have 13 frame df1 or good low but his trick (throws) are 50 50 still usefull at pro level and when you break nothing happen but eddy always risks his ass and whole round

Someday's im honestly glad the guy who taught me tekken played eddy cause compared to most others i seem to be pretty numb to the bs in this game. Its still BS obviously and i have no fucking clue how you'd learn that match up with out knowing someone who plays him. Also inb4 "just lab" its hard to out lab an eddy main who's been playing sense 4 when you've never played tekken aside from mashing buttons in tekken ball.
