Its funny because she isnt broken at all, it makes no sense. Ppl like pretending aop dodges everything when you actually get blown up in that stance 99% of the time
@eventhoyouwerentasking It dodged Bryans d+4 for me yesterday. And, after blocking one of her moves that put her into back turn at -frames I did f+3 to get the counter hit but even at point blank range caliroll completely evaded it.
@@MohammadMishima You have to keep in mind though that unlike most hatchet kicks this is -15 on block and doesn't track to Drag's weak side unlike Bryan. Personally I would much rather trade part of the frame advantage for more safety on block
Its crazy how people can hate a character thats launch punishable on every string, negative on every low, cant launch you from crouch, no long mid/low mixup strings etc
@@kingkino2116 its crazy to me that a low thats is -3 ON HIT is launch punshiable ON BLOCK but her mids are insane ff2 imo is one of the best moves in the game and i love it

It's really crazy to see mainman go from making the official "choose your main" video for Bandai Namco to calling 1/3 of the cast terrible scrub characters.
Bro idk honestly. I main Kuma and I don't try to cheese or anything. They are a little tricky to play against but I don't know what he's so confused by. Like just learn the properties of a handful of moves and youre fine. Kuma isn't even that good of a character.
@@NYG5 I can understand it's annoying because bears are rare, but other than that it doesn't seem like their moves are particularly difficult to deal with compared to other characters. I mean how are bears more annoying than Zafina Xiayou, or Yoshi?

@@velDANTeYeah Panda is even shown carrying Zafina off on her back and she clearly looked passed out. Her status could have easily been cleared up before the post credit scene if they had Ling reference her condition on Lili's plane afterwards. Was so awkward no one mentioned Zafina then.Very bad storyboarding by writers.
@@LoneTaurus82 the story didn't make much logical sense unfortunately, I expected more considering bamco is quite a rich company, they can afford good writers and script and the characters have a lot of potential... I definitely expected more for Claudio and Zafina after watching trailers...and some other characters faired even worse than them...
11:25 Claudio most likely isn't dead. Post-credit photos show Zafina approaching a temple, and someone's leg is in the photo following right by her. That leg, has the exact design of Claudio's.
As someone who (as much as I don’t wanna admit it) has a lot of experience with Lili, it feels surreal to see MainMan say he doesn’t mind her in this game/compliment her playerbase’s skill. She’s such a prime character to hate on but here, Mainman (who is known for generally disliking female characters in Tekken) is actually giving her credit. I will say that for Tekken 8 standards, she is a rather fundamental character and overall on the more honest side. I am biased to be fair and she definitely does have some cheese, I totally get why people hate her but I don’t think she’s as mindless as some of the other characters in this game. She can definitely exploit certain tools and flowcharts, especially against people unfamiliar with the matchup but you do also need fundamentals and strong mixups to take full advantage of her at higher levels (and just for clarification, I am not calling her weak). Many of her cheesier tools do have defined counterplay, even though it can be hard to apply depending on the instance.
Jun beats her in this regard. Zafina is way too over designed for that,if it was Tekken 6 outfit then yeah. But in this one even most of her head is covered
Mainman T7: Nobody plays the bear they are unfun. Harada: Makes Bear viable and strong in T8 and their popularity Rise. Mainman T8: I don't wanna rematch the Bears and I don't wanna learn playing against a viable Bear.
@@rykehuss3435 It's not broken hitbox, is if they made the hitbox match their model people would do infinite on them. In T7 Alisa literally would chainsaw infinite on the bear and in this game a couple of character *cough cough* dragunov can infinite on the bears. So he is basically asking, can I do infinite on bears in this game please?
Since this is the video where TMM says which character he likes and dislikes from a gameplay design. What about a video where he says he likes and dislikes from a visual design?
The only thing Leo had going for him is that he used to be voiced by Ash Ketchum’s original actress, Veronica Taylor. With the series having gone multilingual, not anymore, obviously.
I looked into this guy because I'm new to Tekken and heard he had good content, but this whining is just absolutely insufferable, every video I've seen so far is just obnoxious whining about various things, will probably check out someone else instead.
I'm also kinda new to his content. I watched some of his older tekken 7 videos and even around the time when T8 characters were being released his wasn't complaining this much, just having fun. I don't know what changed
His guides are the content you should check out, that’s where he’s usually objective and they are pretty helpful, especially the 8-minute character guides. They were great for me when i started in Tekken 7. His videos like this one are something you shouldn’t take to serious, i’m not saying he doesn’t mean what he says, but these videos are opinion based and at the end of the day, they don’t matter much. I myself disagree with his crying , but i stick around for the informative content.
Love getting the unhinged perspective of a mishima fanboy, Devil Jin gets a green tick while azucena gets a red tick while they are both absolutely busted and on Azucena somehow its "disagree with game devs" but on DJ its "uwu mishima cool" lmao
Hate to play devil’s advocte (no pun intended) but Devil Jin requieres a bit more skill to pilot . His opinion would be biased even if that wasn’t the case, but at least there’s a tiny bit of merit to it.
@frantschou2369 Nah, son. He biased af. Yoshi breaks "The rules of Tekken," whatever the F that means, but Devil Jin firing laser beams and doing safe on block psycho crushers from half a screen away is classic, honest Tekken 😂.
So, 90% of Mishimas in the game get a ✅️, except for Lars, who apparently is too anime. Also, 85% of females in the game get a ❌️, except for Zafina cause hot, Lili, who somehow still gets shade thrown her way cause too anime, and Reina, who apparently is the best newcomer Tekken ever had, and is totally not an anime trope 🙄.
Hwo isn't braindead, but for every hour you put into your hwoarang is matched by labbing against him, and he's your char, you're going to put a lot of time into him. I have a google doc w/ a list of what to do vs each char, typically it takes me about 3 hours to go through a chars moveset and map out what to duck, ss, block punish, stance transitions, what their good moves are, and what their punish tools are. That same sheet for Hwo took at least 30 hours and multiple visual aids.
There are some characters hated by the community, it shoudn't bother you too much. I play Law and I can barely write anything anywhere without recieving "You could buy an ethernet cable"
I might have to do this because I've just never understood this character. He's so chunky and squat yet has so many evasive and big windy moves that it's hard to figure out wtf he's doing
to be honest i really like nina i think she is cool very exiting to watch jodd just made me fall in love with the character i agree it might be difficult for newcomers to play againts her just like hwoarang but she is a work of art just like steve and hwoarang she has alot of deapth
Asuka's character is based on the "Kansai Culture" of Osaka, Japan. She incorporates the "bokke and tsukkomi" humor that was popularized there. Just like how they tried to capture the Filipina's insecure disposition when they made Josie, they tried to capture that culture of Osaka when they made Asuka. Harada himself had to explain this on X (formerly known as twitter) to dispel some of the hate. After all, Asuka was made to represent an entire culture of a region in the nation he was born in. It's only sad to see that the game's current biggest content creator is the main propagator of such hate that Harada himself is trying to combat.
@@Bakfor I can understand the basic Jack and Jill. But this guy is supposed to be one of the biggest Tekken fans. He follows Harada and Murray. He should've already seen Harada's post on X (formerly known as twitter). He just hates anything "anime" and is quite vocal about it on his streams.
Huh, I didn't know that about Asuka. That's actually pretty cool. It is kinda unfortunate that people hate her so much, especially when I feel like she is one of the better handled female reps in the game.
Anything "anime" that isn't Reina, probably. It's interesting, any character that's young, chipper and upbeat is disliked by TMM and even many other Tekken players. I guess the roster just breeds certain types of fans? I dunno. The argument of something being "anime" really feels like it's just goalpost moving, and feels like a nothing term to describe something you don't like.
Are people unfamiliar with the concept of developer resources? So many people saying they wish pandas slot had gone to some other character like it makes any sense, and people agreeing with it.
I fucking hate playing against Kazuyas around Battle Ruler. They all have this smug fucking aura radiating off them like they think they're so sick for picking a "hard" and """honest""" character, and then they just press heat and 50/50 you until you die or their hellsweep gets blocked and they blow up. It's obnoxious to play against
My guy kazuya is a legacy character and has had the same moves for almost 30 years. He’s extremely hard to use and wave dashing is legit a process to learn.
@@transporterrepair8172lmao hitting forward down df was a process for you? I feel so bad for you even feeling the need to justify yourself like that haha
After playing 10 matches with the bears, you will understand in general what they do. The techniques differ in appearance. After 100 matches with hwoarang, I don't know anything about this character. 200 different kicks
I love playing dragunov so much in this game, but I feel like a tierwhore for playing him so I offset it by transitioning to Leroy when I hit high purple ranks
I went the opposite. I tried a lot of different characters because I was resisting playing Jun, who I wanted to play ever since seeing her inclusion in the game. I gave up avoiding a top tier and I’m having more fun. Almost everyone’s busted to a certain extent anyway plus it’s so early in the games life, so imo play who you like most 🤷 (Leroy is sick tho. I hope he’s not as bad as people originally thought 🤞)
@@ko-yoshi Aside from the running joke being that Leroy is just a non-functional version of feng, he seems just way harder to make work, I would've given up 20 times by now if it wasn't for the insane magicians in the leroy discord
I think crying about asuka is wild. Mediocre tools and a mid character. Player will still find a reason to complain just because a character is easy. I can't wait till she start dominating tournaments.😂
Agreed, have played the character since T5. To have any negativity toward her now, when she is so inconsistent. Feels like she is stuck playing T7 whilst everyone else moved on to 8.
Asuka is not nearly as strong as he makes her out be, she has to work twice as hard just to get the same results as half of the roster, also b3 is good but not as good as he is trying to say
@@SonofSpewy I also hate the "this character is braindead easy" argument as it's counterproductive, irrelevant even when discussing how strong a character is. To make it out as a negative just comes off as an elitist opinion.
The issue isn't that she's good or bad, it's that her best is rewarding regardless with less effort. She's easy. That's her issue. If she starts winning tournaments, then she's the game's issue. You can't make a character like this OP if you want any healthy game scene run and she's still overplayed regardless atm. So no, the negativity has nothing to do with viability, and saying that is as ignorant as Asuka's gameplan It's solely in how she incentivizes learning less about the game and having more straightforward abilities that have immediate benefit and lack nuance
Was just thinking that instead of adding Mokujin/Combot with their usual M.O, they could get Ancient Ogre’s TTT2 move list. Or they could just add AO. I miss that character. Closest I’ve ever come to playing Paul.
@@vradarx sounds like yu got whooped by a lars. Lars is easy to breakdown. Just launch him whenever he goes into stance. Or dick jab him. He’s only safe with DEN 4 or SEN 3 into DEN 1 on block. Same thing with Victor you can jab or simply side step majority of his stance moves.
@@vradarx A Lars main has to be creative in order for his stances to be effective. Lars has zero to no plus frames on his neutral move-set. He’s just a 50/50 demon during stance. But 90% of his stance moves are unsafe. Playing a Lars is a matter of respect. You need to disrespect his stances by launching him during SEN LEN and DEN. If a Lars makes you afraid of him he already won cuz now he’s made you scared of his stances.
They are the worst characters in a tournament setting, anywhere outside of that skill level they are S-Tier. Bears have one of the highest win percentages in purple ranks and above.
I really, really do not agree that Reina is so similar to Lidia. I get why you would see i10-punish and ff2 into stances and say that's similar tio Lidia, but that's where the similarities end for me. I hope Lidia comes back and I think there's a decent chance for it.
It’s endearing and wholesome that your son likes Jack so much and it rubs off on you. I’d actually like to see you play Jack for once and it’d be wholesome if your son watched and got all excited to see you win with him (instead of evil Kazuya).
I do respect MMSWE and always look up to him, But saying Lars is a braindead char, while he legit has to play risky like 90% the times, and can easily get punished... Lars in Tekken 8, is probably the most fun to play against, and with.... While Jin for example became much more simple and much harder to counter play.
I agree about Alisa. I played a blue rank Alisa in quick match (I’m red) and i only lost the first round because I was nervous expecting to get destroyed. Once I saw she didn’t block anything, I won 6 straight.
Dear TMM, could you please tell in more detail why Lars has no counter play in T8? He isn’t as nasty as Jun with Estus flask or Devil Jin. He hasn’t even got too many moves with + on block! What makes you think of him this bad?)
Lars did not change much if you actually see high rank lars they play him so similar to tekken 7 with the addition of the two moves in limited entry idk what braindead moves he have outside of heat which is very needed cause Lars has little to no pressure moves on block he’s just a gap closer stance switch character
"Reina... the most amazing and ever designed character in modern Tekken history, ohhh she has so many moves and is so interesting to play with, 10/10 character unlike all of the other scrubby characters in the game" Yeahhhhhh ,no. FF2 being safe on block, hit confirmable and going into a mid/low/grab/powercrush/guaranteed heat engager mixup would like to have a word with you lmao
as usual tmm just hates almost all the women but loves reina bc she acts masculine and is ofc a mishima lmao i like dragunov as a tekken character overall but how u can like him in this iteration of the game lmaooo he’s just way too overtuned

@@goldenthunder1166 yeah I’ve seen way to much of her stereotype to like it anymore. I always separate Lars moveset and his character so he’s ok to me and the rest are actually so annoying
Everyone can just hate Xiaoyu, Jun, Alisa, Asuka or every broken character in terms of gameplay but we all love them as characters because their all cool. As a Asuka main I’m heartbroken because I’m not a good fighting game player and she’s easy to pick up and play learning to master her is as usual not easy, A pro player like Fergus even says she’s not good at all in this game even though he brought her to GOD Twice. Tekken 8 might be the first fighting game I’ve seen where almost all characters have some type of complete fundamental bullshit without complaining.
Keep at it, I've played her since T5 and this actually might be the worst she has ever been. Still a ton of fun and viable. End of the day, you are here to have fun and play the characters you like. Forget the hate lol.
@@veissra4047 thanks man, I love mainman and I know he loves Tekken with heart and soul but sometimes I just feel like he’s criticising these characters because of people who don’t learn the game and is just mashing which I mean this game is the most accessible and appealing Tekken ever of course there’s gonna be people doing these brain dead stuff. I genuinely think some of the characters are designed extremely well it just that the devs kinda went too far making them OP and “brain dead” while they focus on the more loved characters like Jin, Reina etc. I just feel like the hate is not justified on characters and more so players, don’t pro players work their ass of for being the best? I also agree with the community, though I think part of it is just how people are these days, just toxic and negative. It's sad really...
Fellow Asuka main here. Been playing her since Tekken 5. And rn she's arguably weakest she ever was imo, still struggling to get the same rank I had with her in Tekken 7. TMM just being TMM as per usual. Play what you like and don't take his rants to heart, he is famous for his hot takes.
Reina can be pretty braindead in lower ranks. All they do is pretty much just mash. And this can be tricky to deal with since she gets plus frames on almost everything
ive seen bear players in raijin that would be vindicator rank with dragunov or ruler with victor. they are THAT broken and knowledge checks. not only because of their own moves, but because your own character moves and combos whiff so much on them
The amount of things he says are unique to Tekken that I can assure you exist in other fighting games, sometimes to a greater extent, sometimes to a lesser extent is almost mind-blowing. I guess it's understandable to think that when your main game is the one in question.
I think Azucena is the most annoying character in Tekken history, all that coffee talk and dancing gets on my nerves. More annoying than Julia and Lucky Chloe
@@Coolcatcvr I'm broke as fuck brazilian from the third world, I like to watch videos and I have no joy in life cause I'll never be able to play these games. I just don't like her personality, total latin stereotype. Delete her and bring back Baek, Ogre, Anna, anyone over this annoying coffe girl.
@@velDANTe I admit the clip of two Azucenas dancing in a match is funny but her coffee talk is so fucking annoying and stereotypical. Give Christie back or a new character that is actually badass, sick of Tekken Skinny Waifus, Reina is also cringe trying to be this intimidating presence.
Honestly nowadays I don’t know if Asuka carries so hard, with all of the nerfs and the lowest damage output, she can VERY much carry to red ranks but beyond that in ruler + she can struggle without some basic fundamentals. Maybe I’m biased because in T7 she carried so much harder
I had to play an army of Alisa's on my way through to garyu yesterday, it was awful, I had to fight for my life trying to learn that matchup on the fly after not running into one since like green ranks. After I figured out that they can't defend to save their lives if I just kept frame tight offense and didnt low high'd them to death and never gave them any room it became a lot easier.
MainMan sleeping on the Sandman (Shaheen) just like everyone else. Works for us Shaheen mains, we'll quietly climb to God of Destruction with LowHigh as our guide 😎
i had same exact thoughts about reina - lidia similarities, but apparently lidia is rumored to return in upcoming dlc. however its only leaks and rumors, we will see. i feel like lidia was skipped because: 1. eastern euorpean characters other than russians dont sell that well. eastern europe still lives and dies by cs and homm3. 2. they didnt want to introduce another reina "competitor" (others being obviously others mishimas) too fast. lidia (just like Marduk, and Fahkumram) is definitely a character for players with more refined taste, so i am optimistic she is going to be back. i want to believe.
Fortunately I don't meet any akumas in red ranks. However I did meet 1 guy who didn't know how to play and he spammed 2 or 3 moves. And the whole match was me trying to figure out what the heck do I do with these moves XD
I was happy to know that Claudio is still alive if you watch the credits, in the last slide you see Zafina turning around to see Claudio standing there. But for some reason you just see his foot.
Thought this was about the character and not how strong they are because he said he liked xiaoyu's existence and uniqueness, then proceeds to give her an X. So, in the end it just turns into another "tier list" style video.
Please for the love of god, lab Raven. The heat mechanic is kinda strong ngl, other than that he's quite average. They removed some of the wierd string shenanigans options from tekken 7 making him a bit more honest
He still has weird string shenanigans and the exdp that's -15 on block and a parry that can get him out of anything even if you sidestep him he can just parry and get away for free he also has a asuka back 3 with even more pushback and a 25 frame snake edge
The only characters I sometimes* don't rematch are Jun, Feng, and Dragonuv. I just don't have the heart to put in the effort. I see them so often and they're so tiresome to fight against.
Same bro, OP characters are the ones that are used the most and it's gets so exhausting to deal with their bullishit all the time. I just don't rematch certain characters at this point.
@@moxdegiourno7984 I’ve hated Feng since T6. There are good characters and then there are characters that just make the game easy, and Feng is one of them. The difference between an A and S character is significantly higher.
Ya know I have been watching this dude for awhile but he seems to just hate the game. I mean yes characters are annoying and have bs about them but you need to realize sometimes people are using the character that you also have access of to their best. Sometimes this dude is just hating lol
Honestly? Whilst fighting games have always had people who bitch and whine, I'd say Tekken is the number one game for it lol. Doesn't matter whether your character is strong, weak, very fundamental or unique and experimental: there will always be a bunch of players that hate that character. They don't want to learn the game, they just want to complain.
I find it interesting that you're saying Asuka is braindead to play. The only thing I've heard, even from high tier Asuka mains, is that she's underwhelming compared to other characters and just a worse Jun, way worse than her previous incarnations. Then there are other players, like yourself, that say she's hell to play against. So why isn't there a consistence?
Bears get way too much hate imho; I had trouble with the matchup, then I played bears for like 3 days and realized it's really, really not that bad. Bit of cheese sure, but man do they have to pay for it with their lives if their opponent knows the matchup. Bears are just trolls like Yoshi but without many of the strong tools other than a decent mix-up game. Defensively they're pretty meh.
As someone who has always liked Law since Tekken 3, I don't like Law that much in Tekken 8. It's not because his DSS execution is easy, it's because his new moves that don't use nunchucks are mediocre. They're so boring compared to his new moves back in Tekken 5 and 6.
i was looking for a second character to play beside my main, thanks for doing these kinds of video, it help me thinks. Your knowledge is very appreciated
Yeh idk what that take is Lars seems very strong and mixup machine but still lacks ch launchers and in the neutral he’s pretty crap and doesn’t get great frames on stuff
@@ultraborisgaming7929 I played a lot with Lars in 7 the amount of new options makes more openings to be this version is far better It was very difficult to open people up in 7 once people got used to his movements and strings there’s no way to pull off a win, in this one I can get pressure building a force mistake Frames my be worse but I’ll take it
Are you offended bro? Like don't take it so seriously i play saheen in tekken 8 cause ak ain't here and saheen... Aaaaa saheen nobody plays him same as leo so chill no need to get stressed. In 2 years he will be like " omg we totally forgot about leo he is broken " something like that...
As someone who started playing Jack in the last 2 weeks his stance is not as powerful or overwhelming if you would originally think. You can interrupt damn near every move that he does. If you could do the gigas throw without the stands that would actually make a huge difference. There's only 10 frame move is highly punishable. He's a really good character in my opinion but nowhere near as bad as I've seen some streamers say.
I think it's totally cool to hate Alisa (as an Alisa player myself) but tbh I think she has pretty glaring weaknesses. I think her offensive capabilities without chainsaws are wack. In neutral stance, her best moves are mostly slow keepout tools. B+1 is 15 frames, db+3 is 17 frames and minus on hit. D+3 is super risky and I don't even like throwing it out now that they buffed her d+4. I think the whole reasons her chainsaws are so good on block is because her neutral game forces you to play defensively. I have to really focus on defense in neutral, which is why I feel pretty good when I get a good block or whiff punish or get off a good sidestep etc. Shes cheesy af with chainsaws, but without she can't really threaten you. Keep her out when you have a life lead and you'll do a lot better, trust me!
