What a beautiful collaboration between Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia. Garcia always did justice to Hunter's words. Rest in Peace. The music will live on. 🌹

Hands down one of the best examples of Jerry's greatness. If this doesn't move you and make you realize life, you're quite possibly not human. Just a small sample of why he considered the best EVER!

The world was so much of a better place back then. I saw the Dead dozens of times in the 80's, and it felt like it would be like that forever. I wish my sons could have experienced it, because they love the music, and the scene, but the way it was when Jerry was still with us defies any effort to explain it. Grateful Dead concerts were a visit to another world. A concert, community, party and a "religious experience" (for lack of a better comparison) rolled into one. Simply beautiful. A church for psychedelic, sinners like myself to bask in bohemian delight. An island of peaceful hope in an otherwise mundane and cruel world. Sadly, we'll never see the likes of it again, but we have our memories. Most of them. ;) My oldest son just came back from the 50th anniversary/farewell concert in Chicago, and I'm feeling real misty eyed and nostalgic for those days. Thank you Jerry and Co. for the joyful times. You will be sorely missed.

Kids, your time is your time. Don't waste it longing for a different one. Seize it! Create it! Or, as Chet Helms said (with love) to a room full of us who worked for him in 1969: "These are tomorrow's Good Old Days, so you'd better fucking enjoy 'em."

You said it, Dive H-Man. Funny, I was watching this video and realized I was there. I was 17. I had forgotten about this particular show, having seen them whenever and wherever I could. I always ran into old and new friends at their shows, camped out, hitched back and forth. Lived on nothing much. This was a community of great acceptance of the human experience. We were all happy to be there. Thanks for posting the video and writing, everyone.

I remember that day very clearly, I was 14 and in the back of my parents car on the way to go camping in VT, listening to the radio..they played an ad for the upcoming ticket sales for the Boston shows that Sept., and my dad asked if I planned to go & I was of course, we had seen them the previous year in Boston, then like 20 minutes later the news came over the radio. WFNX, which would never play grateful dead music ever, played them for the next hour at least...still sad like that day...Sorry to be a downer, but it's true on the bright side it's good to share the day with Garcia !! I was working in a pizzeria right outside Denali National Park for the summer, and a few of us were coming down from a long strange trip. I put this song on repeat on the restaurant sound system for my entire 10am-6pm shift. After about 5 hours a gentleman came over to me and said, 'I don't really mind, but I think this song has been playing for the past 40minutes.' I just said, Yeah, I think you're right and continued on in bliss.

When the hair on the back of your neck stands on end, an awesome spiritual supernatural connection has been established between the yourself and the artist in that moment. I truly believe that. Music is the universal language that we all understand no matter where we come from, no matter our age, no matter how high or lowly our station in life may be. Those of us with a soul that is. My favorite dead set of all time. Thanx for the post!

One day. And I don't mean strength either...I'd rather be weak than to do any of that again for strength alone. This is a hellish planet we're all walking on. Perhaps music...this sort of music...will help you find the burst of deep gutteral aching that wants to leap that wall of anger. I am here. I know you are a human behind this screen, and I get it. You are not alone.

absolutely…wharf rat, brokedown palace, stella blue, days between, there's so many, but his last So Many Roads in Chicago…he knew it was his last, he knew he was going to die…and JGB? unreal, you can almost hear him breathing sighs of relief - actually having a break from the Tour Machine, that, near the end, he couldn't get a break from- I don't like Weir for many, many reasons, in fact, you could say i hate him. how do you go against jerry's WILL?!! how do betray his last wishes- that his guitars go back to their makers, one of whom was almost killed after being hit by a truck on his bike and lost his business and had to move in with his mother & weir brings the full force of Grateful Dead Productions with lawyers and everything against him - against fxxking JERRY!- what he wanted, yeah, RATdog is a perfect name…sorry, but jerry had more years in him, and one thing didn't help is the fact weir guilt-tripped him every time he said he needed a break, into tour after tour, with "well what are we suppose to do, we already have MSG & every other place booked for the next 2 years". weir's also the one wanted to continue touring under the name The Grateful Dead, without jerry. pretty boy wanna be cool-greg brady exept with ironed hair like marsha in the early days- but always in his lame ass daisy dukes and weak ass voice, i love the dead, but it's because of jerry. like the velvet underground without lou reed… the heart and soul…nirvana without kurt? cmon. mad love for jerry- going out on stage playing Dire Wolf front and center with FBI-Credible death-threat against him saying next time he takes the stage he's getting shot, everyone says don't go out don't go out, what does jerry do? the heart of Peter Tosh, he goes out and sings the coward down "don't murder me…"

I got to see all 15 shows at he Warfield Theatre. All 15 were the best concerts I have ever seen! The acoustic sets were the sweetest. Just about every songs they played were different with the exception of Ripple. The theatre was the most beautiful I have ever seen decked out with Grateful Dead memoribilia and roses everywhere. And I remember Joan Baez and Bill Walton were there. Bill Graham was awesome. Serving Breakfast after shows and Champagne to toast the Dead. Thanks For A Real Good Time
