God, I just want to happy again. I just want to have joy in my life.

I've been struggling a lot lately. Satan is throwing so many lies at me and it's so hard to not believe them. Everyone has "dry" times in their spiritual life, but I feel like I've been stuck in the desert for a long time. I want to love God and be on fire for Him. I want my life to be about serving Him, but I don't know how. I'm afraid of not doing enough for Him, which is a lie from Satan. I saw a quote, "Don't be afraid when the enemy is attacking you. Be afraid when he's leaving you alone." I should find comfort in this, knowing that I'm doing something right because he keeps trying to make me fall, but it's hard. I keep praying and I know that God is faithful and He will get me through, but I get so tired sometimes. Sometimes I'm overwhelmed with the desire to just see His face. All that to say, if there's someone else out there struggling with this, just know that you aren't the only one🙏💕

I’m here in 2023 seeking help, answers, trying to fight but I’m so tired! I find comfort in knowing God has not forsaken me and I’m not alone in this.

I don’t know how many people here are struggling with suicidal thoughts, but I just wanted to say that you’re not alone. I struggled with these when I was 15, and God got me through. He can get you through, too. Never forget that you ARE good enough. Never forget that you ARE a fighter. Never forget that you ARE worth it.

I just got home from church where I just had basically an emotional breakdown because of the things I've chosen to believe about myself like "oh, Jesus didn't come to save you. He came to save the world. Don't think you're so special that anyone would do anything like that for you" And "You'll never be good enough. Not good enough for your family, your friends, your church family and DEFINITELY not God. What makes you think that He actually wants anything to do with you?" "Yeah, they say that 'God doesn't make mistakes' but He probably made an exception when it comes to you" ect. And I just found myself crying with one of my Youth Leaders because I'd been bottling all these feelings for so long...feeling like I can't go to God because I've let Him down and He doesn't want anything to do with me and that there's no way He could use me anymore because I'm such a screw up...but after the much needed talk we had and coming home to see this notification, I'm just like wow, the timing of this... this was exactly what i needed to hear. thank you Kirby❤

I’m struggling with this right now with mental health in my head and hearing lies from the enemy like “Your going to end up in Hell” or “God left you” I know I’m going to a dry season because I feel as though I lost my passion for him but I know that if I fight the good fight it will only strengthen me. I’ve struggled with this practically all my life and I agree with you. There is redemption in God’s perfect time. It may be decades. Don’t give up or give in bc one day we will never be bothered with mental health issues ever again!

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real it’s impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

I’m a Christian with a leadership role at my church. I also have a personality disorder and mood disorder. I deal with mania, depression, anxiety, self harm behaviors, and suicidal thoughts. I am also a survivor of a suicide attempt. I have help with therapy and medicine. I lean on my wife, friends, and pastor. I have faith that God doesn’t do anything without purpose. If only to make me a better testimony to the strength of God’s love or to reach one person, I believe my struggle can be used to God’s glory. Though when suicidal ideation and depression hit me, I need his word to remind me. Thanks for covering this topic.

Right now in my life I am going through giving up porn and the mental battle is extremely hard. Basically I prayed one day to help me quit and I'm 24 days going. 2 hours after that prayer, I started having anxiety. He is feeding me lies about how reality isnt real and making me feel so alone. My therapist asked if I've had these thoughts before and I never have until I quit porn. He is trying to break me and harm me but it comes for a couple hours and then it just disappears and have moments of calm relief. I'm on fire for him one day and scared in the corner the next. Please pray for me while I go through this. It's been going for about 26 days and there are days that I just feel his love

I have been struggling a lot!! Like i lost the relationship and bond with God by involving myself in worldy things and i do it repeatedly and ask for forgiveness to God and now am ashamed that i couldn't get closer to God and i couldn't feel his presence no matter what i try to get close to him after asking forgiveness.. And i get tired sometimes and i don't whether it's satan throwing thoughts on my mind like I am not gonna get forgiveness anymore from God.. God totally hates me because of repeated sin and ending up asking forgiveness and again repeating the same. And also i get thoughts like am doomed that's it it's over between me and God and there is no other way to get closer to Him 😭😭 I want to get closer to God badly! I do realize that life without Him is nothing nothing at all It's a total trash life without being with him!!

I have been diagnosed with Gad/ Generalized Anxiety Disorder…. I suffer really bad from uncontrollable anxiety. Ive prayed for years and years! It does not go away! Ive asked God to take it away but it never goes away. The anxiety can be so bad at times that im afraid to leave my room or go around allot of people. It makes me feel so depressed and hopeless especially how can can I do the lords will if im suffering from this horrible mental illness…. Idk why God is allowing me to suffer from this disorder but watever the reason I know in the end he does love me! And soon we will be with him for eternity and we will never have to suffer from mental illness anymore.

i battle a lot with religious anxiety. It started 2/3 years ago when I started dating a guy and for some reason I felt realy anxious and guilty about it. I didn't know why and it made me think that God didn't want me to date him, but I loved him and didn't want to break up. Everyone in my church said that my concern didn't make any sense and that I was overthinking, but it didn't go away. This made me struggle with a lot of anxiety and depression for about a year, when I fell out of love and broke up with him. I thought that that would mean that the anxiety and depression would go away (bc all of it were directioned only to this situation). But after I broke up, more things made me feel the same way: guilty and anxious. My desire to pursue music career without wanting to be a gospel artist, my desire to dye my hair, me talking to a guy I was kinda interested. All of it made me think “i want this, but what if God doesn't want this for me???” And all of the anxiety came back. even things that never happened! Im learning korean because I want to go to an exchange program in korea. But then I think: “what if God doesn't want this for me???”. Last year I was studying for my SAT’s to go to college. But I kept thinking “what if no matter how much I study, i wont get in because it isn't in God's plans for me?“. It feels like the only way I would make all of this go away is if I were to live a super religious life, which no matter how much I love God, I just don't want to. I don't want to be those people that don't have dreams of their own, or doesn't sing “secular” songs because it doesn't worship God (Except for those which are actually bad), etc etc. I still struggle with this and I don't know what to do. I don't want to be these radical people that 100% of what they do and say revolves around God. As if I were a nun. And this makes me feel guilty as well. God gives me so much and get anxious about the idea of living for Him??? Seem so ungrateful of me. I just can't give myself a rest.

"Surround yourself with people who will affirm the Truth to you." -- for someone with social anxiety, this really resonates. I grew up in a Christian community until I got to college, becoming friends with people outside of that, who gave me the social trauma got me into the place I'm at.

Thank you Kirby. I am currently walking through a season of hardship and a lot of unknowns within my family. But God is so good and He provides! At the same time, I have been blessed with a community of so many people who have come beside me, prayed over me and supported me through a lot of the hardship. He turns my suffering into strength and guides me. So much truth in what you said. We are never and never will be separated from the goodness of God! (Rom 8:31,38) Again thank you for reminding me that God will deliver me and to be patient with His timing. God has made so much breakthrough for me personally and I am confident He will deliver me and my family through our hardship! Take care and God Bless. ^_^

Just now seeing this, thanks for the video. I hear what you’re saying and you’re not wrong. It does feel a little oversimplified. I’m tempted to believe this doesn’t apply for me. Giving this struggle to God and eventually overcoming sounds good on paper. As a Christian, God has seen my struggle with depression and I’ve prayed and surrendered and all that. But it does feel kind of idealistic at times. I set myself up to trust God has delivered me but then that high tide of depression comes back. From a clinical standpoint, my support group and my therapist say it’s likely time to pop the pills. I feel afraid to go down that road. Learning to embrace the idea of taking medication for this. But I do have trouble reconciling in my mind what happened to surrendering it to God and praying it all away. I love the Lord. Don’t know how to handle this one though....

I've always walked through life with my chest out because one day, God spoke to me directly, that as long as I'm breathing He hasn't left me. Today, Satan came with fire. So many attacks, so many lies and then he came for my security that God isn't with me. That my destiny is to be without God. And I love God so that broke me. Suddenly, everything around me shifted. The yard no longer looked the same. I felt exposed. My faith was shattered. And I began to cry. I felt like I had lost all hope. But the beauty is that whether or not you believe God's promises, they still stand. That's why John says when we are faithless, He remains faithful for He cannot deny Himself. I love God so much. I got through it with God. I prayed. I prayed with all my baggage that "God doesn't exist, that somehow that "non-existent" God is not with me" (??? Satan's lies are so weird) and God came through with my faithless prayers. I know He'll fight for me through all my battles. Sanctification is a hard process. Maybe try to figure out where you're tripping Hebrews 12:1-2. The weight that easily trips me up is caring what people say and feeling like I'm the problem and it's always ME that's in the wrong. That's just what my family pushes on me. God will get me through it. He got me through addiction and He can get me through all this too. And if you're a believer, that's the same for you too.

Going Through It The strongest souls fight the most difficult battles. Depression is like an angry dragon that fights us. To master depression, you have to go through it. One does not defeat the angry dragon. Because you are the dragon and the depression. You slowly become one with the dragon and the depression and gain strength in going through it. I hope this might helps as it helps me.

man... I didn't expect to be hit this hard. I was cruising through RU-vid, hoping to find answers on depression and Christianity. I thought I was a disappointment. I thought I was alone. I felt so much shame and guilt for being depressed and not knowing what to do, I isolated myself from my church community. I had experienced the love of God so powerfully before, but in this season I've just been numb and in pain. You told me words I desperately needed to hear that no one around me was telling me. I never felt God speaking through a RU-vid video to me so directly before, and I'm so thankful that I found this. I appreciate your words of truth, it helped calm me down and know God has never left me.

I'm older so when this girl came on in her bedroom I thought what could she possibly say to make me feel better? actually she made me cry I listened everything she said made sense, I'm still having a hard time I can't be around Community. Cuz of the pandemic I got off methadone 7 months ago I haven't been able to get support from people, Im to isolated I can't even drive right now and I feel attacked by Satan please pray for me if anyone sees this! 😥🙏🙏🙏🙏

Amen. My depression has made me desensitized from falling into sin which resulted into feeling ashamed of even trying to seek God. Disappointing someone who loves you doesn't mean you have to flee from them, let alone fleeing from God.

I have severe depression and anxiety because I cursed the Holy Spirit in my mind, and feel I’m doomed. I’m about to start Citalopram, hopefully that’ll easy my anxiety so i can think positively.

I’ve been struggling with mental illness for a good while. What makes it worse is that I have trauma to alcohol due to my parents have a substance addiction with alcohol and would fight constantly. I’ve been believing satan’s lies about how i’m not good enough and nothing to god. I’ve tried to self harm myself and have though of suicide a couple times. I’ve had countless emotional breakdowns and have gone crazy. I’m stuck in a spiritual hot, dry desert with no food, no water. I always tell family that “Nothing’s wrong” or “i’m fine” when i’m really not. I’m too weak to fight satan and haven’t gotten up from my fall.

I with i could explain how depression works to my descipler. She tries but she wants me to just stop being depressed. More or less she waves me to just stop having mental illnesses in general. I have diagnosed delusions and she wants me to just not listen to it. And it's hard to just do it, when that's all I've been told is true my whole life.

I have been dealing with so much anxiety and feelings of 'guilt' throughout the past few months. I have been struggling with what it looks like OCD (false memory OCD) this is where your brain distorts a past memory that you fear and this is what you'd never do or done . And it convinces you that you have done it. I am 15 right now this is memories from since I was around 13. I feel overwhelmed I feel suicidal I don't know how to talk to my parents about this. I know I have sinned and repented. But why would I repent for something I had never done 😭
