This is one of the best reviews for a single scent that I've seen. You gave it the time and critique that it truly deserves. Well done! I find longevity and projection to be beastly though. This is my longest lasting Tom Ford, beating out my TL and TV by at least a couple of hours. It may be my skin, but I put it on in the morning and it keeps kicking until bedtime with just two sprays. Definitely not a blind buy, as I've gotten more negative reactions than positive. I usually only rock proven compliment monsters, but I wear this one just for me (albeit a lot less often).
It's all subjective fella; including girls and the rest doesn't have to detract from the scent focus if you don't make it out to. If you're referring to Jeremy, i don't think it's true at all. For me; Quantity matters in scent opinions. You're never going to smell the scent through the screen and even in Niche, their are way too many scents out there now. I just want a quick overview; not a move-like build up and documentary over something that in the end i can appreciate the authors passion and dedication, but actually doesn't help me at all with a *final purchase/hype decision* - I cannot smell the scent through the screen!! If you listened; Jermemy (and quite a few other reviewers) go into more detail than you may initially think. Anyway, I just want quick takes on many scents in one video, or frequent, shorter uploads if I would be doing this thing. So say: 1) Chergui - for me, an intense powder rose bombe, to the point of being overbearing, sweetness of honey and amber are ok on drydown but make the scent even heavier and cloying for me; 3/10. This would be a 5 minute video. 2) Then on same day - I'd upload Apple brandy: an amazing example of a safe booze; vanillic delicious oak-wood cognac soaked apple, the apple note at the top sparkles, has a champagne effect and the whole thing syrupy sweet throughout. A flawless classic; 10/10
This smells like cigar light up and whisky smoky feeling when you drink it. I love this fragrance because there is an atmosphere in the bottle, this is just pure perfumery and art.
What an excellent way to review a fragrance, and thank you for doing justice and giving distinction to your review. Please review more fragrances, especially the private blends and collections with Oud as an ingredient.
What a review from the master..... I'm smelling the cologne sample as he speaks and he is spot.... even down to the cognac/ dark liquor... again great review... I'm getting really good longevity though on my skin... definitely getting a bottle for my birthday...
Great review, ... excellent , excellent note breakdown , where is the tobacco and where is the oud , then it takes a huge right turn. Trust me I felt exactly like this although I could not describe it as well as as you did. This review is a must watch if you are on the fence to buy a bottle of Tobacco Oud. This is a gem of a fragrance in the Tom Ford Collection.
Thank you so much for this review, I love Tom Ford's challenging scents. I've got 3 bottle this month and Tobacco Oud was next on my list. I call these my f* you fragrances like if you have f* you money. It's funny to see my stepmom's reaction she thinks half a spray of weak cologne is too much.
Great review! I haven't tried alot of tom ford fragrances yet but I liked all the ones I have smelled so far. My favorites so far have to be tuscan leather and tobacco vanille. I also really like vanille fatal, vanilla is probably my favorite note and it really stands out on my skin even in fragrances that have very little. I think you and Mr. Sillage have convinced me to finally make a RU-vid review I have been posting on Instagram but I think I'm gonna make the leap to videos. I have a day off tomorrow and I will shoot my first video I hope it turns out well and I have been messing with an editing software on my phone. Keep up the good work man!
R8: thanks for what you do. Been learning from you for a substantial time. Was traveling recently and just tried this. Totally blown away - couldn't stop sniffing my hand. The drydown is special. I got a sweet berry bozzy note. Kinda reminded me of amouage jubilation. Totally missed out on purchasing amber absolute - but feel better now that a component of it is in this. Really surprised at some of the hate out there for this. Obviously everyone has different likes and noses but this may be a top 10 for me. Masterpiece? . I have about 300 bottles of some decent juice - and this is a 'morpher' - a beautiful changeling. Love it. Thanks for educating me on the note that has captured me - the cistus. Keep up the good work brother. Gotta get my nose in ambre russe.
I do own and love both Tobacco Oud and the Intense version.For whatever reason Tobacco Oud gets me HUGE amout of compliments , and my gf loves it on me.Also i do get a lot better projection and longevity , even though my skin iv very dry.I get over 12 hrs of longevity and at least 4-5 hrs of solid projection. Hi Robe , I love your style. Very unique , interesting and your content is also better than many other reviewers. You need to market your reviewers like others who are more popular despite churning out several monotonous reviews. I enjoyed your YSL video and surprised that you started GBUUO concept. Coming back to Amber Absolute and Tobaco oud which one is better. I have packed 250 ml of both these fragrances and thinking of keeping one and selling one.
I picked up a 10ML decant of this one when it was first released a few years ago in a split but never found myself looking to get a full bottle... Though once it's totally gone (and it's getting close) I may change my tune on the full bottle and pick one up if I miss it enough... ^_^ Great job and thanks for going against the grain with time constraints by giving it a full 20+ minutes as this is a complex scent that really deserved the full Robes08 treatment... Top notch job as always...

Im surprised you didn’t mention cinnamon from this (maybe its obvious when you mentioned whiskey) but I get it on my skin..! Overall I tend to see a more approachable, rounder version of La Couche du Diable in this.. I love it!!

keep in mind the price tag and the scent itself, many won't buy on price alone, other won't buy because of the challenge it presents to their nose. I think you're fine. :)
I wouldn't worry much, as most people won't get it just for the reason, that close up it doesn't smell that nice, but how it smells on you is where the magic happens. 99+ percent of the people you'll meet will have no clue about this fragrance. I have it, love it, but not yet smelled on anyone else.

I find that on the first spray I get a lot of whisky, with hints of tobacco and oud.. on the dry down it kind of reminds me of a crystal shop that’s burning those woody incense sticks, don’t know if anyone has that same vibe? - tobacco oud is defiantly an addictive smell! Just not sure if I would go and buy a full bottle, as I do have samples.
You are one of the few reviewers who knows what he is talking about. I tried a 1 ml sample once and all I remember is labdanum Amber, and it smelling like TF Ambre Absolute. You addressed that in the first 5 minutes at least there is no oud or tobacco.
I've worn this quite a few times but I can't really pinpoint any notes. It just smells like one well blended whole thing. Reminds me of pinetar but sweeter
I do like Tobacco Oud, but Oud Wood is still King. Would suggest you review Tom Ford Italian Cypress. Recently purchased a decant and have been wearing it a lot recently. Great scent!

Great review - I love tobacco and oud have been wearing a lot of Russian oud and Herod recently but I just couldn't get on with this one it's got a funky twang to it in the opening - I've heard intense is very different so will try that
Did tobacco oud 100 ml ever came is tall and slim bottle type?? These days its small and wider bottles..a guy is selling me tall and slim bottle batch code A73 ... wanted to if its genuine or fake... help!
I think it's the best TF tied with TV (7/10) Still a bit too much ashtray for me though; the Tobbacco note is very good when it does sweeten with the amber (sometimes even at the start) but honestly saying, I find the TF house average at best, escpecially with their £200 price tags. Just doesn't move me
I just sampled TF Oud Wood and i love it but im not sure whether im that happy with longevity. Couldnt sample Tobacco Oud yet but everyone says it has an amazing longevity. Is it similar to Oud Wood?
This is the best review of this scent in youtube ! I already tried this one and i love it, but sadly the intense version tester was empty :( ... wich one is your favorite , regular or intense? robes08 I did watch it, good detailed review thanks! You basically said u get tobacco, oud and cistus (fruity waxy amber). My comment is based on the Notes you listed. I own both versions and I only get a hint of castoreum & Tonka in the intense version
