I laughed out loud at the repeated “mousey” presses! So funny. That’s exactly why I don’t do the buttons with my cats- I would get hundreds of presses for food, toys, or mad! I’m trying to focus on learning to communicate without the buttons (and these channels (including Billi) really help)! Todd is pretty cute, thanks for sharing him with us!!
Yes, you can absolutely communicate with your cat without the buttons. They are just an aid. Before the buttons, I knew when Todd wanted to play but not with what, I knew when he wanted affection but didn't know if it was pets, cuddles, belly rubs, or brushes. Etc. Todd still communicates with me that way when he is away from the buttons and with them.
I love how much Todd loves Glamour, even though she seems pretty indifferent to him. I ADORED the video where she swatted him awake for sleeping in her basket.
Aww I just found this channel and want to see it too! 😃 They are both adorable! And the dynamic reminds me so much of my cats, before the old lady passed. 😢 Now the youngster is alone, and we have both grieved for the old lady a lot...he adored her so much too, like Todd with Glamour. In many human languages yhou do not use the personal pronomen ("I") when speaking. So Todd could easily mean "I am happy" when pressing "Happy". Also, the selevtion of buttons does not really allow for more elaborated grammar, so Todd has to combine what is there to get a meaningfull sentence. Thus the dialogue: "Mad" "Why are you mad?" "JingleBell" - there is no obvious way Todd could tell you that he was mad of a situation before where he asked for JingleBells and didn't get them. My thoughts...
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks I think he’s trying for you. ❤ It seems like right after that time that you told him that Paulie was a nice kitty and that he would be his friend If he were nice to him, Todd has been trying to be friendlier to him. In The videos after that one I could clearly see him restraining himself to not chase Paulie and to try to be nice to him.
@iramadanceandmusic1098 I was also working with uom behind the scenes as well. I would give the two of them a squeeze up treat and they would have to share it nicely to get it. That reinforced the notion he has to at least tolerate him if not be nice.
Jingle ball update: The Jingle Ball makers tried to fool us - I found a Blue/Pink Jingle Ball but it was a clear (polycarbonate?) plastic vs. the milky look (polyethylene?) type TRUE Jingle Ball. We will continue the search Todd. We have not given up.
It looked like Todd was having 'one of those days' when he staggered twice while going to the buttons he wanted. I know you said his infection throws his balance off so I'm not too concerned yet.
Poor Todd was mad. Looks like he got bit shocked first with your chance in tone but still like the cat he is he still had to press mousey after it but then was okay with ambush toy. Great seeing Glamour made him happy again. My heart just melt how he likes Glamour, just seeing her beauty makes him in a better mood.
I fill it with his prescription cat food. If he gets it too much, he will have weight problems. He gets it once in the morning and evening in addition to their daily meal and bedtime treats.
Todd trying to get extra kibble on a technicality 😅 It always makes me laugh when Todd presses a button multiple times to try to get his way…. or asks for several things when he gets told “later” to see if he can get something else instead. A quick play with Jingle Ball and a Glamour sighting and all is right with the world again!
I love tuxedo cats, and he is so sweet and pretty that I don't know how you resist tucking him under your arm and walking around with him all day like a child with their favorite stuffed toy. Except . . . he might not like that so much. 😆 I have noticed that some of the animals just like to state the obvious (just like all of the rest of us 🙂), and Todd was likely saying Glamour's name simply because she showed up. Well, I think she showed up, hard to tell from my chair here at home. 🙃 I was thinking more about those Orbs of Sadness. Cats love tuna, and tuna makes everything stink. Seal an OOS in a ziplock with some tuna, then see if Todd will play with it. If he does, then there is hope for the other rejected orbs. If not, it truly may be a color thing - and the quest will continue . . . 🕵♀

I don't know if RU-vid did it, or someone complained that it was spam because I included links to eBay. Very frustrating because I think I found the ball that Todd likes, but if not, then a few alternatives that didn't have white.

@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks Todd is a fluffy fella with very refined tastes it seems, and little but the One And Only will do for him. If this backup attempt doesn't work, maybe take a close photo of it with ruler to show its size, plus a clear image of the bell inside, and any manufacturer marks on it, and then put on RU-vid under a Post. Maybe label it 'Wanted.' Not a video or a short, though you can do that as well, but Posts can be just images or comments without video, and it could be referenced easily for anyone checking to see if they found it. I don't put anything up so don't know exactly how to do this, but it seems Posts appear under the Community tab. I just checked yours, and nothing is there, so it could be a new trick for you. Todd is keeping his human actively engaged, too.😄
Look how gently he pushes the buttons, maybe his joints ache? Amazing little guy, thanks for posting. We give our older guys bone broth & glucosamine condroitin capsules that we open & sprinkle on their food. It makes a huge difference.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks we had an adopted puppy with joint problems. The vet put her on medication so she could walk without a limp. We gave her condroitin msm supplement & bone broth & now she doesn’t need medication even tho she’s old now. Age is not always the reason for joint pain that can cause grouchiness. We enjoy your videos very much & we all love Todd & his button requests. Thank you for showing us that animals can use the buttons it’s so amazing.
Unfortunately the mousey gets filled with his food. He's asking me to fill it , he gets it as a treat in addition to his meal twice a day. If he got it anymore he would be over eating.
Could you recommend a product that allows me to buy the buttons and tiles separately, that’s preferably cheaper than fluentpet too? Their basic testing kit is a ridiculous $30 for 2 freaking buttons with 2 of the likely especially cheap to produce tiles. I can’t justify the price. It’s stupid

It slows his eating so he doesn't get sick from eating too fast. He had to wait for the Jingle Ball because my wife was asleep and he likes to take to the hardwood downstairs by our bed room. Asking him to wait is no different than telling a child you have to wait to turn on the fire truck toy until mom wakes up. I say yes to him whenever possible.

Great question. All of their regular toys are available 24/7. The ones on his board are ones that require me to interact with him with such as turn on or wave a wand around. The only exceptions are his Mousey, which is out 24/7 but is a food dispensing toy. It slows his eating so he doesn't get sick and is filled with his prescription food. He gets this in the. morning and evening, other than those times when he asks, I tell him he has to wait. The other toy is his Jingle Ball. This is his favorite and most special toy. It has to be this exact ball in every detail, or he won't play with it. They are no longer made. Two have been broken by being stepped on. We do not want to risk the loss or breaking the few remaining he has, so it is given to him when he asks for it and put up when done. If I tell him no or he has to wait, it is because my wife is sleeping downstairs, and he will take it downstairs on the hard wood and bang it into the walls and doors. Me asking him to wait is no different than telling a child to wait until mom is up before paying with a loud toy. I hope this answers your question. I try to say yes whenever I can to all the kitties.
5:20 I think it might just have been a simple "Good Morning". 🙂 Which is not that simple considering people use that phrase now knowing what it really means. It is not a question as in "Was/is your Morning good?", it is not a statement "this is a good Morning for everyone" because you can't know that. It is a wish, that you have/had a good morning, but it could work as a question as well depending on circumstances. Or Todd was happy now, and mad before because he just did not have a good morning for whatever reason.
Why are you being strict with your cats toys? Cats and dogs should be able to play with their toys whenever they like, seems mean sorry... Their lives are already so short, you should not deny them that.

It's no different than telling a child they can't plat with a loud toy until mom wakes up. The mousey is out all the time. I fill it twice a day with Todd's prescription cat food. Todd is in profile when he repeats mousey several times but I would not want to be on the receiving end of the expression I can see out of his profile when you tell him no. He was not best pleased that you wouldn't give him another mousey! Around our place we call that look "getting the stink eye."
Yes there is much to communicate without buttons but agree they are a helpful for understand the what they want. What is maybe not obvious is that the words must all be modeled and owners must look for their response. A pause for thinking then a behavior expressing it. That pause is absolutely necessary with or without buttons and then to look for a response action to give you the hint on what they want. Want pets? Lean into my hand… etc.I have six cats but only one that uses buttons so the same methods are for all of them. Those queues absolutely changed everything!
No, they are inside only. We have a lot of very loud cars around up and Todd is terrified of them. All the cats run when they go by. I'm afraid if one went by while outside he would pull and fight so hard on his leash he may hurt himself. I just down think it's worth it.
Thank you! It is all modeling. I press the button then show and explain the word to him. I repeat until the connection between the word and the button is made. This is over simplified of course but you get the idea.
