Todd is without doubt, one of the best drummers on planet Earth. His rhythm and fill in's are on point. He plays with passion each time he puts those drum sticks in his hands. Respect to one of the best!!!!
A master of polyrhythmic accents and superbly timed fills. Smoothest transition from traditional to match grip. Just an absolute joy to watch and listen to. So much talent on display. No need for blast beats!!
I cannot stop watching this. The snare work is spectacular. This song is a masterclass in what part drums can play in a song. All over the place but ALWAYS in the pocket!!!
After not playing for over 25 years....Todd was a great inspiration for me when I started playing again in 2018 after I retired and joined a Contemporary Christian band...I watch this 'Master of Percussion ' and cannot turn away from the work he makes look so easy...keep it up !!!!!
I’ve seen a few different live performances of this song and each time there are a few fills he does differently. He doesn’t over do it. A joy to watch

He is amazing, no doubt, as a retired professional drummer from Los Angeles, I can say, it helps to play the same 20 +/- songs for 25+ years, you get them down reeeeally well....
Of course, @@drew-shourd, but even when you take that touring catalog out of the equation, his playing and educating is still helping to move the craft forward, inspiring the rest of us (like many others, whether they're in the spotlight or not) to be our best, or at the very least, to get better. My god! Flawless technique and in the pocket. I've never heard such a musical percussionit. On top of that his drums sound like thunder! Oh well, in my next lifetime.
He just became one of my new favorites, with traditional grip none the less , I'm blown away , I wish it wasn't 2 am or id go to the set and see how many seconds till my matched grip normal left wrist will give out

Been listening to this band since I was 12 (65now). John P was a good drummer, Todd is another level up. First time I saw and heard him with the band, what a difference. Thanks for giving the music a kick in the ass!!
Just watching this again for like the 3rd time. I just can't bow deeply enough in respect. There is so much to admire here. Your technical abilities are obviously world class. But also is the pure attention to the original song and reproducing it in a way that pays perfect homage and yet improves it somehow. And it's not just this song, it's every fucking song. You're great, but more importantly you're respectful and are giving it 100% all of the time. A true professional here folks! I've always thought Tommy Shaw was one of the more underrated musicians around, and you absolutely belong in that universe. Bravo sir. And on another note, thanks for taking the time to do so much instruction and such. It's great to see the complete package at work.
Todd Sucherman is such a joy to watch. I grew up in the 70s a big Styx fan, and was a big fan of John Panozzo. While John wasn't the greatest drummer ever (I can poorly play MOST of his stuff), he was very good and his style and the parts he wrote for the "progressive" sounds of Styx were perfect. I love how Todd stays true to John's playing, but his skill allows him to augment the songs and take the playing to the highest level without departing from the basic sound John created. RIP John, your tracks will live forever. And Todd, keep on man, keep on.
If you doubt this guy isn't a top 5 drummer right now, listen to Styx The Mission from 2017 start to finish. I can't ever comprehend some of what he's doing, much less replicate it
nobody knows who the top 5 are.. how do you compare a george kollias to a nate smith to a virgil donati to a todd sucherman.. simply not possible. he's undoubtedly world class. he's got insane chops, fantastic groove, i cant recall seeing him mess up, ive been told he's one of the nicest guys in the business and he seems to have his life together.. if you got all that, i cant imagine caring too much about wether youre top 5 or top 50. like samuel l jackson said: if you need a sam jackson character in your movie, youre gonna call sam jackson.. it doesnt matter if he has 0 or 20 oscars

I remember the first time hearing Todd. It was on the 1996 “return to Paradise” album. He played so well on that album. Not to take away from any other albums that he’s played on. Truly, a modern day great!!!
