It was a glorious day and nice to be out on 'The Witch' my Royal Enfield Himalayan.
After riding over Berrio Bridge, through Middlewood and Upton Cross I arrive at Tokenbury Corner up on Caradon Hill. From there it was on foot to South Caradon Mine, and as I later discovered Holman's Engine House. I give a very brief history of the area whilst flying the drone around and, I find a pair of Exeter Riders' underpants.

Enjoyed this visit to a copper mine. Thanx for digging up some history on the mine, good work. Nice to see the drone footage, this always gives a bigger perspective of the site. Cornwall looking lovely and green there Jeff. At least all that the rain is good for something. Gorgeous 👍🏻 Looked and sounded like you had EcoRIdes levels of wind for this ride. Quite blustery, like it has been here for.......hmmmmm.....since Spring 2023 ! A nicely preserved mining complex there, always interesting to see these old industrial buildings. Some top droneage going on too, giving us a great view of the whole complex. Very interesting and entertaining. That's the trouble with chaps, they do leave your keks exposed and they can get caught on fences. But now that he has his Meteor, Exmouth won't wear anything else, obvs. Cheers you two. We’re all sick of the rain here 😞 Glad you enjoyed seeing the old mine workings, I love those old buildings and imagine how it must have been 150+ years ago. Most interesting video👍When I left school at 15, I was told to go down the local coal mine, not flippin' likely. Ain't no way I was going down a hole in the ground. Engineering was my job all my life and I still saw and experienced a few nasty accidents. Safely and happily retired now😁

Jeff this was just so fascinating - I've walked to see the Crown mines and been down one - can't quite remember where that was now - and though I'm not usually keen on drone filming you chose superb lighting conditions and an interesting subject with views we wouldn't otherwise get. And together with a magnificent ride it was just wonderful. Thank you yet again for showing us a part of your Cornwall. Peter

Ah I have only seen engine houses on the coast from a distance. They are somehow beautiful I think. I hope to get down there following the TET eventually as I know it passes very close to some old mine workings. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the kind words. Jeff

Another great video SB thanks for sharing this lovely spot with us and for taking the time to share the history of the place, excellent work 👍 I had the pleasure of a meet up with Noobiker on Friday and took him on a tour of some local roads. The day started of wet but dried up for us and we had some great views although it was a bit cold due to strong winds on the high ground. Sadly our Comms wouldn't link but I'll see what I can do with the footage.

Great vid, SB, and I love the drone footage. I'll have to visit that one. The shaft at the end of the engine house looks like it's sinking. This happens to a lot of mines as running water in the tunnels and adits wears away the bottom of the hardcore plug that sealed the shaft. Eventually it will have to be re-sealed. Many Cornish folk have woken up in the morning and found a gaping hole in their back garden.

Your remarks about the old miners working for a pittance while the 'fat cats' creamed off the profits is so true, Twas always thus and unfortunately always will be... Hello my friend. It’s a popular area for picnicking but most people are lazy so you don’t have to walk far to find a quiet spot. Twinks and I have gone alfresco around there a few times. “Haytor”….no I haven’t but I’m definitely interested. I could incorporate it into a video actually as I have been meaning to get up that way to show everyone a couple of tors by Haytor named after me 😉 Thank you sir 😎

Thank you Saddlebags, that was very interesting. Those old mines always pique my interest, it was good to learn a little more. The fat cats are now living in second homes all over Cornwall whilst the locals earn a pittance serving them. Oh well, at least not so many die now, silver lining and all that 😁 I hope Exeter will collect his old kecks, what an eyesore 🤣🤣🤣 Or maybe I should get them and sell them on ebay, should get a few pence 🤭
