I just bought this lens for real estate interior shots, both still and video. I tried it for nearly a week and used it in a professional assignment. I shot most of the shots with this and the details with Olympus 45mm f1.8 on G85. Both video and still show distinct quality difference between the two lenses. Even an untrained eye can tell you the difference. Honestly, this lens atx-i is not all that great. It's somewhere between a kit lens and a prime lens as far as image reproduction goes. I was actually quite disappointed with the distortion and I wonder if it is really rectilinear. The flares are ugly even in ordinary room lights. The colours are not very realistic and any boost on premiere Pro makes it weird. I use it on D3300 and it is no comparison with the 35mm prime. The only good thing is, it is cheaper than the rest, but what you get is what you pay for. I have a G85, and I think I should have got the lumix 8-18mm f2.8 for nearly double the price of this. At least my clients will not grumble.

have you had a chance to try the newer Tokina 11-20 ? Wondering if that might be any better :)

@@driftwoodpictures No sir, I don't intend to buy any more Tokina. I have, in the last one year, noticed that the performance of the lens is better in landscape shots of projects in bright light with filters. Interior videos are almost unusable with this lens.

I just had to pause the video half way thru and hit the like button and leave a comment .. I really appreciate you dropping these videos man.. the info u provide really helps me make the best decisions with my equipment since I got the S1H as well I’ve been dreaming about a way to keep everything in focus just how my Sony 7sii+Ziess use to be . No matter how fast I move in a out.. Iam definitely copping this lense next to put the S1H to the test.. thanks for the info..

Im guna get this lens. I was reading into and found out that they made zero changes and used the same exact glass internally. Basically all they did is made a better rehousing.

That made sense. I didnt see to much besides build quality and it didnt however handle flares a little better but overall just built quality was better

hey, I have a question, according to this review if you zoom in to 16 mm then the fish-eye effect at the edges disappears --> /watch?v=ISFzKI_uDz8 So, why are the VLOG'ers using the Tokina 116 filming at 11 mm with the fish-eye effect ? The lens looks cool in the VLOG's, & city photography, so I guess it's versatile for those two... unless you're going to shoot models at 16 mm, is that even a practice ? As in some prefer it ? I think the unifocus 50 mm lenses are sort of ugly actually compared to the 24 mm shots and stuff...

For the price its a good option. I would rather reccomend the sigma 14mm 1.8 for that but the price is a big jump. Up to you depending on your budget

Hey man great review! Question - Total newb, I just bought my first camera, a Canon M50 with the EF-M mount. Since this lens is not full frame, does that mean I shouldn't use it with the viltrox speed booster? Should I just get the standard EF to EF-M adapter instead?

You can use this at 16mm with the speed booster without any major problem but If you want good AF performance, use the standard canon adapter, hope it helps :)

For someone who wants to move to Panasonic, do you have any tips on learning manual focusing especially for tracking shots? I'm currently on the Canon 200D and rely on autofocus quite a lot, but I'm looking to upgrade for better hybrid shooting. Sony or Canon's mirrorless crop bodies have decent AF, but poor video codecs, while Panasonic has so much better video codecs.

Hey guys does anybody had a problem to focus to infinity with Tokina 11-16 atx-i and GH4/5/BMPCC4K (with MB speedbooster 0.71x) ??? I have this lens and I cannot focus to infinity or even beyond and I'm not sure if it's "normal" on every piece or only mine is wrong/broken..?

I've read about this issue with this lens. One guy said he found a video on RU-vid about recalibrating it and that solved the issue. Since I don't have this lens, I didn't try to find the video but it's worth a look if you're dealing with this.

Anyone knows what's the difference between this lens and the Tokina ATX-i 11-20 f2.8 ? I mean, the 11-20 does exactly what this lens does with 4mm more reach. So what's the point of making these two lenses ?
