Ken Wanatabi who??????? 🤦‍♂️ Please pay more attention to Japanese names; there is nothing hard about Japanese names. You just read them as they are writen

@@loochieCS *Watanabe Not Wanatabi. Unlike English, Japanese names contain unique meanings depending on how they are written in Kanji. Thus, Misspelling is a huge disrespect

HBO doing the show a disservice to not promote the show easily. and we the audience have to pick up the slack. I hope it gains more attention once it ends in its post-moterm ending.

I saw this show and immediately fell in love with the Japanese 90s setting and the Yakuza plot can’t wait for season 2

@@loochieCSAfter watching Tokyo Vice season two I can confidently say that it's entered my all time top five. I felt like season two's ending was the perfect series finale and that a third season isn't necessary and would probably only serve to undermine its own legacy so it's better to end on a high note than for it to drag on unnecessarily-However, I would love to see a prequel series chronicling Ishida's rise to power in the Chihara Kai, Godfather Part II style! 🔥🔥🔥

@@enterthebruce91 Well said, totally agree! Unfortunately, it looks like a season 3 isn't happening according to Jake himself on Twitter, but I'm still happy we got a cohesive ending to our story. A prequel series sounds amazing!

@@loochieCS To be honest I'm glad it's been confirmed that it's not being renewed as much as I love it, maybe I'll start writing the prequel series myself! All the best from the UK 🇬🇧 👍🏽

Season one was great! The cast, writing, direction and cinematography ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I can't wait for season 2 to release in the U.K after it's U.S run concludes on Max next month and hopefully it gets renewed for a third season, I've only seen the trailer for season two but I can already tell its as good as, if not better than the first season. HBO/Max always delivers premium content. Thank you for this great show. P.S another great show not a lot of people know about that finished a few years ago is Banshee (also HBO/Max). Can't wait for The Penguin and The Sympathizer.

This last week was the first week without Tokyo Vice. So weird without it.

The period correct Japanese cars are great. Especially the yakuza vehicles which are big luxury cars that are rarely seen outside of Japan. Cars like the Toyota Century and Nissan President. The yakuza aesthetic and style is beautiful… cars, clothes, and tattoos.

The biggest achievement of this show is that despite being made by westerners it feels Japanese to the core. I am not Japanese but I have cleared the JLPT tests upto the intermediate N3 level and am an avid Japanese film fan who's watched the classics from the 50s.

Yep. It's great, an American produced premium show with a predominantly Japanese cast, spoken predominantly in Japanese and shot entirely in Japan. I haven't seen any of season two yet because I'm waiting on a UK release date and also hoping it'll be renewed for a third and (probably final) season. Maybe HBO/Max or another network have plans to adapt Jake Adelstein's other books (The Last Yakuza and his upcoming book Tokyo Noir) one day. I hope so! I wanna watch all Tokyo Vice episodes before I read the book-Thank you HBO/Max and thank you Mr Adelstein for your amazing work! 👍🏽

Agree 100% that the show being in Japanese is likely the stumbling block to its success in the US, and perhaps why MAX has not yet given a green light to a third season. (I'm not saying it's not successful, just that the audience for it would be bigger if it was in English.) I admit that if I wasn't already in the midst of binging assorted KPop content, I'd probably have hesitated more to start watching a show with subtitles, but it's NBD now. I love Ken Watanabe, and I have generally adored HBO/MAX original shows, so it didn't take much to get me to start watching. Hopefully we get some good news about more seasons or a spin off but I'm not optimistic. Thanks for the video.

I'd love to see Jake's sequel book to Tokyo Vice, "Tokyo: Private Eye" to be adapted for another season. Not sure though. After ep. 9, it seems pretty evident that this might be the story they wanted to tell, and that's all good in my book. Thanks for watching 😀

Eh.. I watched the first series but my biggest problem with the show is its just the same old thing to be honest.. It feels like another detective show, even with its nuances.

Fair, though I really recommend giving the second season a go. It really amps everything up, and makes for a more thrilling plot.
