hi billy I normally don't comment on anything but when you shared your army story I grew up on a small family farm my dad was born in berlin in the late 30s and as a child he seen what hate did to people we were not raised that way and I never really seen racism tell I enlisted in 2002 as my unit was being molded I was called many thing because I grew up to get to know people be friendly respect all and never let hate plant it seed I was looked down on in my unit because I backed a man based on his caliber not his race we all bleed the same and if im in a hole with ya in the shit i want to look to my left and then to my right and make damn sure they got my back like i got theres and thank you for your service brother
Tbh aside from being a reactor myself, I am a huge fan of reaction channels. 95%+ of the reactors I watch are black. I think the reason for that is like you said earlier, not being able to see things from the perspective of a black person, it's insightful to see how you see things compared to how I see them. It's a way to relate to one another. That's why I love reaction channels. It also breaks a lot of stereotypes and gives the reactor a chance to experience different beliefs and cultural patterns. A good story, I don't need to be like the person telling it, or the main character, to get it. A good story can get me to empathize with someone outside my experience. In this case, its a story about me, but I mean, I been listening to hip hop for 20 years, and most of it is nothing like my life, yet it can still resonate with me if its a good story.
Hit the nail on the head. My experience in the military (20 years) I worked for, with and over people of all walks of life. Some of them, on every side, had some racist bias. We even had religious bias. We had a guy eventually get separated because he would not take orders from anyone who was not christian. It was crazy. However, most folks were cool and I know its cliche or whatever, but normally everyone would joke on everyone it seemed like it went in circles. There were boundaries though.
We would give each other mad stereotypical shit but at the end of the day we would all willingly lay down our lives for your brothers and sisters to your sides

As a fellow veteran (I served between 90 and 97 in the Air Force) and in my mind media is not "white" or "black" or any ethnicity. Media at least in this country is "American". America is one of the few countries that is made up of people from multiple ethnicities and backgrounds. We are the "melting pot" after all. Keep up the grind Billy. I would imagine for a black guy, there is alot more of the "white stuff" to pick from. In general I mean.
