I remember during the weeks right after 9-11 talk shows were very desperate for guests since so few celebrities wanted to travel to New York. Conan frequently had to resort to Al Roker and random SNL featured players.
I was at this show. I remember that it felt kind of weird to laugh, but there was something good about being there and I remember Conan came out before it started and sort of talked a bit about everything. The Black Crowes were the musical guest, well actually just Chris and Rich. They played She Talks to Angels.

I remember now that it was Rudy Giuliani who announced that we should all rush back to 'normal' which it now seems was deeply misguided. We went to war and back to life as if, the result was a permanent state of war.
