Tom Waits has the most amazing mind and such a way with words. I love this guy! In reality, he is a rather shy and soft spoken, well dressed man but give the guy a stage, microphone, a piano or in this case a megaphone and watch him transform into some kind of unexplainable master of poetic trivia mixed with real and sometimes hard life experiences. Genius!! Something like a Hobo Leonard Cohen.

Kudos for reacting to this -- a fine piece of musical theater. It harks back to the time when street preachers appeared in lots of towns and cities, strutting their stuff and singing and preaching the gospel.

Tom Waits to me seems like he a performer in the 1930's or the 40's he is an old soul!! Him and Nick Cave and Mark Lanegan. He is really unique, what a performance!! I mentioned this in another reaction that I would play him when I was an art professor at the University. My students werent sure what to think but I loved it.

To me Tom Waits and Zappa are their own genres of music, just nothing like him before or since.
