i mean in the game joel clearly stated the last words tommy said to him before he left him was that he would never want to see joel's face ever again. also joel was not planning to visit his brother initially, heck he wasn't even planning to leave boston
The difference in their facial expressions is gold. Joel looks like he’s about to break down because he knows his little brothers alive. And Tommy is all ecstatic that Joel is there like he unexpectedly showed up to a family event at the last second.
As someone with a close brother since we were young this scene made me tear up. The feeling of what was years maybe even a decade of division and lost all being shattered with one loud word shows just how much they cared. I like the show version of the reunion better then the game as it just shows how close they are and how much love and compassion they really do have for each other as brothers.
I feel like this show showed more humanity than the game, you really got to see sides of the characters you didn’t see in the games, and the parts you had seen you got to see more. It was really well played by the cast, phenomenal. Just wish they had’ve deviated a little more from the source material in some areas in the second half. Literally the best episode of the series is one that is completely original (Bill and Frank’s episode)
It’s something tv series can do better than game, where it sits for some time to let audience experience their emotions without cutting back to next action set immediately
The emotions that I went through from game to announcement of the show to the scenes themselves, honestly you’d think I was bi-polar or something. This is my comfort game/show 😭😭
The tears in his eyes just really pulls at the heartstrings and the pulling each other pack into their embrace and holding on for dear life, my heart 🥺
This scene made me ask myself "Am I a good brother?". I'm not in a mood to speak about my life for last 2 years, so I'm always afraid to ask my brothers how are they and answer this question if they ask me back. So am I a good brother?
I love show version of Joel more in a ot of ways. He has much more emotions. He is jealous of Tommy for getting live that he was robbed off. He is not a killinf a machine, but is still incredibly ruthless. It seems like Sarah's death scared him more than hardened.
They don't dare to even break eye contact with one another till they are holding each other in their arms. Like they are afraid that as soon as they look away the other will just disappear.
i wish they would make the 2nd season cannon to the game, it would really seal pedros acting and raise bellas and gabe would tommys character real come alive
